One fascinating text I just picked up myself is Meeting the Universe Halfway by Karen Barad (from 2007). She has a background in quantum physics but writes philosophy, attempting to create an "onto-ethico-epistemology" by incorporating quantum theory into philosophy. Anyway, I can't say much more yet, but it looks crazy (in the good way).

Being able to take it up again does not seem like a negative thing to me - I already am in the habit of alternating between filtering by 'activity' and by 'new' to get the complete picture, so to speak.

This one is ostensibly on the media's (over)reaction to Trump's recent Europe visit (particularly with regards to Putin), but in the end delves quickly into a variety of issues with the overall political climate.
For one, I think he is on point with the observation that
The panicky reaction to Trump’s latest acts demonstrates that he is undermining and destabilizing the US political establishment and its ideology.
The "left" media's overreaction to the Helsinki summit therefore reminds me just how implicated they are in the system-as-is, which people seem to forget in light of the perhaps more blatant example from the other side of Fox News.
Also interesting in this article is Zizek's questioning of just why Trump is so anti-Europe, and his conclusion that it is more related to the idea of Europe than to its actual reality:
Although America and Russia may appear opposites – unbridled liberalism and individualism versus new authoritarianism–, seen metaphysically, they are the same: the same hopeless frenzy of unchained technology grounded in fake patriotism (“America first,” “Russia first”).
He also touches on 'fake news,' fundamentalism, digital communities, and so on.
I quote the last line to perhaps inspire interest in reading:
One thing is clear: there is no return to the old ideological hegemony. The only way to return to Truth is to reconstruct it from a new cognitive interest in universal emancipation.

All in all I enjoyed the show though, nice when a cool SF idea actually has pretty good visual effects. Makes me think of this movie The Sound of Thunder, which was a great idea (based on a Ray Bradbury short story) but the budget was so low it ended up being awful, ha.

I'm of course referring to a smaller sub in which you'd generally consider the users to be thoughtful, provide more insightful commentary, etc. Or is everyone just inviting through the tildes sub?

Eventually I found them online somehow (pre-Amazon), they were out of print though now I'm not sure.
Christopher Rowley was the author, the series was about a fantasy world where dragons were small and couldn't fly, and partnered with humans to fight... enemies. Don't remember the details, ha. First book was called Bazil Broketail I believe, they are great.

This is also where the fine line comes into play between what people are referring to (in a misinformed way, often) as 'political correctness' and the desire to be / practice of being inclusive. If one does not moderate their language in what are really rather simple ways (not saying "man" so much, as OP mentions, not assuming the other is one thing or another) then they demonstrate that they value their own perspective over those of others, a standpoint which is to a small extent unavoidable but which in these cases usually is much more than "to a small extent."
The effort to keep this (internet) space of Tildes as one which is open and inclusive I see as one of the most important and most difficult jobs of the community here. I am here to do my part and am curious to see how it plays out. I will remain hopeful. For it to function I do see that it has to remain one of the core tenets of the site and any slow slippage will ultimately lead to its demise (as this sort of inclusive space).

It is a really fun game but you are right, some of the haunts are a little confusing and/or silly, recently got an owl-themed haunt that we all thought was a bit stupid.
