Yeah that's definitely personal, I also quit smoking years back and I also notice how far away I can smell it in the air or even on people now. Marihuana is just worse to me.

Yes you're letting it bother you more then you should, I live in one of the countries high on the list and I can't see how this would be a jab at America, let alone specifically. Secondly life isn't that perfect here lol. For some reason a lot of Americans seem to want to be the best at literally everything, and I think that's going to be impossible sadly. Finland definitively doesn't have the economy or tech the USA has for example. Life is quieter, and that has its pros.

I'm in the progress of learning Rust and the free Rust book (it's usually called "the Rust book") is so awesome. It's definitely meant for (somewhat) experienced programmers. Brown university has an experiment going that tries to make it even better with quizzes, some more text and some tools visualising borrows etc. Very enjoyable.

And with being cautious I mean read the discourse around that phone's custom rom. Xda developers used to be the go to forums for that, nowadays discord and telegram could be sources but it depends on the particular developer.

I have the Pocketbook Era and while the brand is lesser known in the USA (I believe) it's definitely the most open of everything I compared. It's just Linux, installing Koreader was literally as simple as copy pasting files. I like the Dropbox integration for transferring epubs. Kobo is also quite open, but installing Koreader has more caveats and the Pocketbook let's me just replace the default reader app with it, which is awesome. I don't think Kobo can do that.

Gimp doesn't seem to be as well funded as Blender and now Godot as far as I can see. Blender really skyrocketed once they got some big corporate sponsors and could hire some fulltime devs. So as long as Godot keeps listening to the community and don't fuck things up, which they seem to do, I'm quite confident. In fact I became a backer myself last weekend.

True, but that wasn't really the point I was trying to make. On the Unity subreddit a developer of some children's mobile game showed some statistics where they would have to pay more than the actual revenue from that game, showing how ludicrous and thoughtless this fee is.

    I found this interesting:

    https://steamdb.info/instantsearch/?range%5Breviews%5D=10000%3A&refinementList%5Btechnologies%5D%5B0%5D=Engine.Unity

These are all games with over 10k reviews(arbitrary number) which use Unity. Really puts it into perspective. Few examples: Rimworld, Vampire survivors, Slime Rancher, Hollow Knight, Subnautica....

This is absolutely huge and potentially devastating. What a needless greed this is. Wow.

It's pretty wild right. In a way it's almost poetry that the struggle of capitalism vs art destroyed the game's future, it could have been a storyline straight from that game.

Do you like one more over the other? I have about 150 hours in DD1 but 2 just doesn't do it for me for some reason. I mean it looks beautiful but the gameplay loop is just off for me. Runs too short to be a campaign but too long to not matter if you lose. Then the cart driving annoys me, too passive and time consuming. The combat... Haven't decided yet.

I know plenty people like it so that's fine. I can respect they didn't turn it into just a pretty DD1 though, but it's a bit too evolved for my taste now.

Nice. Yes the storage box I found was most stable upside down and then on top of my exercise mat. I guess that's trial and error, yours could be different. Grip training for me is mostly hanging from my pull up bar (my back likes that too) and one of those squeeze things. Grip strength improves quickly it's pretty cool to be able to confidently open jars etc.
