I should have worded that part better, but in essence I thought you thought of them as simpletons lol.
I was also applying what you said on a grander scale than the context was outlining. In other words, I can see plainly now that you were not, in fact, condeming your former classmates for the heatheness act of using Mac!

I have to agree with @Greg. I'm not entirely sure it's necessary to make this distinction as though they're somehow foolish by comparison for opting to use Mac. They're used plenty in professional settings, and certainly for reasons other than status and simplicity. This is anecdotal, of course, but every job I've ever had thus far has provided MacBooks for development.
With respect to the topic at hand, I would agree that if you're an outlier using one type of system in a course in which the software side of things is heavily geared towards Windows, then perhaps consider as such, but otherwise I don't think there should be a stigma for opting to use one system over another, and I am not about to generalise on the intelligence of those that do.

I do agree that once you pick favourites in terms of Eikons it's a tough sell to switch, and I gravitate towards any that have good countering capabilities. Mastering an ability such that you can apply it to any Eikon is somewhat of an alleviation, at least. It's a bit like style-switching in Devil May Cry, which I always thought would work well in an action-focused Final Fantasy game, but with jobs (e.g. Strangers of Paradise) instead of summons.
I had also been doing all of the side quests as and when they became availabile before pushing forward with the story, as I'm the type to leave no stone unturned on a first playthrough. I think these are generally well-acted in the voice acting sense, but animations are very stilted. I don't expect miscellaneous questing to be like something out of Advent Children, but I've seen better back-and-forths for inconsequential quests in other games. What caused me to pause my playthrough however, was that at the very last hurdle there is a rather egregious quantity of these dumped on you, enough to make me audibly sigh. Since I'd done them all up to that I point, I may as well tackle them when I'm ready to.
The areas, while nice looking, have nothing to do in them outside of whatever marker it is on the map you're trying to get to. Hunts are fun, probably the only side activity I would deem as such, but having them and other side quests exist in these spaces is their only purpose. When they're done, there's no reason to visit them. The issue is exacerbated by the fact they're annoying to traverse rather than the traversal itself, because the areas within areas are all interconnected by corridors with invisible walls. There's no jumping over gaps on a Chocobo that the game doesn't want you to.
Despite these complaints, I enjoyed the game. I certainly wouldn't deem it an outright disappointment. I've played far worse cookie-cutter AAA games in recent years. I think aspects of the game are not a bad blueprint for further action-focused titles, if they decide to make them, including the Asura's Wrath-esque boss fights if for no other reason than the fantastic spectacle of them.

Firstly, sorry for your loss. Whilst they're not remakes, the trilogy was ported to PC within the last few years, so unlike the Jet Set Radio example there is at least a modern way you can play through them if you were so inclined! The first two were crowdfunded if I recall correctly, and are even on PS4, Xbox, and Switch. The second one was Steam Deck verified in February, even adding a couple of new boomerangs and outfits!

In my last role I was the only one working on a particular project (I'm a software engineer) such that if I took any time off, all that guaranteed was that there'd be a mountain of work waiting upon my return. As you can imagine, keeping that fact alone out of the back of your mind is quite the task. Eventually it got to a point where I wasn't learning anything either, because there was essentially no peer review on anything I was doing. Any PR I'd put up was Hail Mary approved nigh immediately.
When I handed in my notice, suddenly it was panic stations, and I spent the remainder of my time there onboarding two contractors. I hadn't actually planned on leaving, my state of mind at the time was that I had resigned myself to the "comfort of familiarity" and inherent job security I was afforded by virtue of being that lone cog. That is, until a former colleague reached out with an opportunity and I just went for it. Thankfully I can say it's been a very positive change, and my work life balance is much improved. Plus, my previous company isn't looking too hot at the moment. If it says anything, there's two other alumni in my current place.
Anyway, that story is not to tell you to quit your job or anything, but for the sake of my own mental health it was the right call for me at that stage.

The other aspect is, if it's a recent topic with ongoing conversation such that it is being bumped by others within the thread anyway, then is it really a problem writing a once-off thanks amidst the rest to cap it off? I wouldn't consider it so. If it's an older post that you bump by asking a new question, and then this question is answered, I wouldn't consider saying thanks noise in this context either as new information was garnered.
In a hypothetical scenario in which this did need to be addressed, I would be in support of a lower-stakes label than Exemplary that is only visible to the author, the latter being important because the last thing I'd really want to see on Tildes is Reddit Gold and the myriad of other pointless awards that only add to the popularity contest feel of their respective comment sections.

By that I mean very analytical, logical, and perhaps less emotional. Hypothetically, were this to rear its head IRL, one may not feel a "connection" as a result.
What I'm trying to say is that if you meet someone purely with intent the resulting interaction can come across as unnatural. I've had the most success meeting new people in general by having zero expectations it will lead to a lasting friendship, or anything else, i.e. more free-flowing and less heavy-handed, especially with people you've never met before.

I've read about what etiquette is expected, and I don't feel the need to tiptoe around. If I make a mistake I feel I will be respectfully corrected.
However, recently I have seen at least one instance of the quality of discussion dipping (a post which has seen the guillotine treatment along with the OP). I think it's important to maintain a quality userbase that isn't afraid to pushback on that kind of hostility, and not allow it to run rampant as it does on Reddit, which is what stopped me posting there. I think there is something to be said about possibly having an observation period upon creating an account like I've seen suggested in this thread.

As a frequenter of /r/SBCGaming, it is somewhat of an obsession for many. Aesthetics, form factor, onboard controls, aspect ratio (e.g. 4:3), price, and pocketability are all key factors. Most would not find attaching a backbone controller to their phone an equivalent experience.
Besides that, you're not missing anything. You're correct that there are phones with better chipsets available, and they are likely to always outpace these devices, but for those invested in the space it is about those aspects rather than just a peformance benchmark between them and more modern Android phones. Most know they could pickup a more powerful phone instead of one of these dedicated handhelds.

What is being stated in this thread should not even need to be said, it's common sense. Opinions are opinions, and that is the end of the story. There shouldn't be anything unfathomable about the fact that others like things you do not. There's plenty of critically acclaimed media that I don't like, and vice versa. My reality and disliking something does not equate to an entire industry being at fault.
There's thousands of games on Steam but very few are actually good.
This is hyperbole to its highest degree. This all reads like a very rage-baity "Reddit"-esque post to me. Unnecessarily inflammatory. There's no discussion to be had here to be honest.

Comment on RetroAchievements: Modern achievements/trophies for retro games in ~games

It seems silly, but they’re a nice motivation to actually play them as opposed to loading them up on the device of the week and abandoning them shortly thereafter (guilty as charged). I’ve been tackling Crash 2 & 3, and Oddworld: Abe’s Odyssey most recently.
That being said, if you’re a completionist you may find some achievements a bit iffy as to whether or not they belong in the main set. Sometimes they’re bordering on the types of challenges one would expect from a speed runner. I don’t mean “beat the game in X amount of time”, but ones that require a mapped out plan to execute, involve multiple missable steps, and a lot of the time require another playthrough if you’ve messed something up along the way. Of course, this is further exacerbated by playing on Hardcore which forbids save states. Just mentioning as you may go into a game with the intention to get them all and discover the odd one that is fairly unwieldy compared to the rest.
Overall though, it’s a really great repository for keeping track of all of your old favourites you’ve played through, and on the upside there are plenty of challenges outside of the scope of the games typical progression that are plenty fun too.

I would read through comment chains on threads and see arguments unfolding in front of me and just be glad I had no input in it at all. I have no problem having a discussion and disagreeing with someone in a civil manner.
Also, unnecessary pedantry in back-and-forths if you don't ensure your comment/post contains the fullest breadth of detail accounting for all possible variables, lest it be raised against you as a hole in your argument. No room for inference. Reddit made me not a fan of prefixing a statement with: "You do realise...?".

Naxes If I had to guess there's probably a lot of legacy infrastructure at play... coupled with a dash of incompetency! If I had to guess there's probably a lot of legacy infrastructure at play... coupled with a dash of incompetency!
I bought Dreams when it was available in Early Access, but for whatever reason it fizzled out quite quickly for me. Probably a lack of creative aptitude on my part coupled with the jump in complexity compared to the naturally more restrictive Little Big Planet. If this were software available on PC, like RPG Maker, I think it would be a huge hit with those more creatively, but less technically inclined. It's probably the best example I've seen of taking something that is normally very technical, and making it primarily visual.
On the topic of impressive creations though, I recall seeing this trailer for Trip's Voyage sometime last year and being thoroughly impressed. If "Made in Dreams" wasn't plastered in the bottom right corner I think you'd be hard-pressed to tell. Looks as good, if not better in some respects, to something like A Hat in Time.
