Personally I think a two party system gives an illusion of choice more than anything.

Democrats and Republicans tend to agree on a lot more then they realize but for some reason they decide to repeat the same arguments over and over.

This stops the spread of radical ideas, but fails to get to the level of someone like MLK or Darryl Davis where the extremists are actually giving up on violence and altering their own views.
I still think we need to be very careful with Antifa as many of them have a political agenda that goes beyond pure anti fascism, but if they are effective at stifling this neo-nazi flame then so be it. Let them roam the streets. We just need to watch what happens after the fact because historically the radical left has been just as dangerous as the radical right.
However in Antifa's defense they are a pretty diverse group with different methods of thinking. I feel comfortable knowing it's not a single ideology but rather a bunch of different ideologues coming together to fight a common enemy. Surely the anarchists and communists can't agree on too much more other than the fact that nazis are evil right? I don't know if we need to fear a hostile takeover by the left as they haven't committed the same atrocities we've seen committed by white nationalists. At least not yet.

My mom drinks, and she used to drink a lot more when I was younger, but now that the walls are closing in on her she seems to be slowing down.
She divorced my step dad years ago and finally is being forced to work her way through life now that he's no longer paying her rent for her. The thing is I never even realized how bad she was until I moved away for college. Then every time I came back home the reality of the situation hit me more and more. The tipping point was when I had to call my grandma on her when she got heavily intoxicated one night while watching her 12 month old baby.
That was a wake up call I'll never forget. Worst part of all was that she repeatedly threatened me the day after for doing so. It's almost 6 months later now and anytime that incident gets brought up it's my fault for remembering it incorrectly. Any negative comment is perceived (often falsely) as an attack on her and she will hardly ever admit any fault on her end. If she does admit some blame it's never towards the person she wronged either. It'll be to another family member but I suppose I should be grateful because I know other people in similar situations don't even have that.
Anyway, due to some unfortunate circumstances in my own life, I'm forced to live with her for the time being. Despite the situation, I'm still hopeful that something is getting through to her. She seems to be drinking less but there's no telling what happens on the days when I'm not home so I don't really know for sure. I just hope that my optimism is correct here and that I don't have that hope dashed like so many other's with narcissistic or semi-narcissistic mothers do.

It sucks because he probably would have been better off had he refused entry and then fought the case from there. You would think that arguing an unlawful search of your home by telecom companies would hold up better in court, but then again there were those judges who deemed it lawful despite the original ruling that it wasn't.

Its not that hard really, just learn about the coins with promising tech (Monero, Ethereum, etc) and go from there. Its a fun environment for sure.

I'm a fan of his lectures and beliefs but this piece was still a good read as it pointed out a few flaws of thought. If you are going to confront an idea than arguments like these are the way to do it. Most people with an aversion to his ideas would rather attack on an ad-hominem level so its nice to finally see a piece that doesn't stoop to that level.

Polarizing topics such as a ~Piracy would be nice to see as well as a more specific subgroup like ~tech.privacy.
Both these topics have been discussed (Piracy being debated) at length and I think its time to start adding more groups in order for the site to move towards more specialized and less generic content. The thing that makes these sites great is the specific sub-communities where everyone can spread out into their commonly held niche topics. We're not there yet.
That was a really good breakdown. Thanks for posting it.
