I've never been a huge fan of Bond but it tilted that way in recent years. I never really cared for the early ones either for decades but for some reason that has changed. And I would certainly agree with FRWL being a perfect example of the Connery years.

If we're talking about the best of the 60s era in general my pick would have to On Her Majesty's Secret Service. I've always adored that one. It just has everything I love about Bond films and that wild late 60s vibe and atmosphere.

But with Goldfinger, as I'm halfway through that one again, the charm that Dr. No and FRWL had is still there for me. I'm curious if that will remain the case for Thunderball too. I'll probably be finding that out tomorrow.

This was my favorite episode of the season so far. I also don't know why but I wasn't all that big of a fan of Sam until this season. I'm loving his run and I guess I really do get his vibe now and that literally enhances all the previous seasons to me. I've been a huge Ben and Adam so far obviously. Now it's perfect. (Yes of course it already was.) I can't wait to see how this season continues playing out as it was a bit slow at first but now is full steam ahead and I'm here for it baby!

I've started a rewatch of all the James Bond films from the beginning and I was impressed with how good Dr. No is for being the first film in the franchise. It has all the charm, the beats, action scenes, and fun elements of all the best Bond films. I will be enjoying From Russia With Love tonight and the slow marathon continues.

Not me but a very close friend. Said friend worked in and around New Orleans doing body removal and transport. Without giving any specific details she did a pickup from a nursing home involving an old man who passed.

She saw a Hemingway collection in his room and thought she would love to have that but knew it wasn't possible or moral to do so.

Cut to two weeks later and we both went to the Goodwill in Slidell. She was looking at the electronics then we were perusing the book section. Low and behold the exact copy of collected Hemingway was sitting right there front and center.

She bought it immediately for a dollar or less. We both thought it was hilarious but also so perfectly accidently lined up to happen.

It may have been a North Shore nursing home but she wasn't sure.

I made my first ever curry recently. My history with curry doesn't go back far and isn't cultural. I'm a white a guy from the deep south US lol.

Anyway a friend of mine has made many over the years I have known her and I wanted to try my hand at it. Going on the knowledge I acquired watching her make them I managed to no recipe one myself.

The first key element was proper curry powder from a local expansive Asian store. I don't remember the specific powder used but that plus cooked and mashed green beans and sweet potatoes, ginger, an onion, half a garlic clove, at least a half stick of butter, plenty of additional seasonings (a specific blend my father makes himself), some lentils, and water and gumption I was left with a delicious and flavorful paste that went excellently with my freshly cooked rice.

It came out very close to how friend's curries always do so I know I'm on the right path. I will be fine tuning and trying different variations on my next attempts.

So for those of you out there that have not delved into the world of homemade curries I would highly recommend this.

I've been coming across all sorts of new/newer artists. Including:

    Jesse Welles (protest folk/singer songwriter/Americana/blues)

    Sludge Mother (stoner/sludge metal)

Earth Tongue (sludgy grungy stoner rock/metal)

War On Betty (progressive metalcore/with all sorts of influences)

I'm pretty much delving into these artists alongside such older stuff like:

The Living End - Self Titled (Pop punk/rockabilly/reggae/ska)

Creed - My Own Prison (post grunge/alternative/hard rock) [yea we all know it's Creed but they were a super solid band on their first two releases IMO]

Death Cab For Cutie - Plans (indie/emo/alternative rock)

I've been a musician for 29 years and 23 of those years have involved FL Studio in some way. Hilariously after all that time I am far from an expert using it. I tend to stick to physical playing and recording but use FL for extra and added layers and sounds.

My advice after my long involvement with it is just experiment with it and see where it takes you. I don't use it deeply or in any complicated way and I can make whole tracks/orchestrations using simply the step sequencer, piano roll, and playlist with the mixer.

Just have at it and have fun. You should be fine with just those four parts of it.

I've just about finished up a rewatch of Rush (2013) which tells of the rivalry between Formula One drivers James Hunt (Chris Hemsworrh) and Niki Lauda (Daniel Brühl) in the mid 70s.

This film has everything anyone could want. Great characters/portrayals, wonderful dialogue, excellent pacing, and of course action packed racing which is shot beautifully, creatively, and effectively compared to practically all racing movies before this and since IMO. The cinematography is a master class basically.

I'm not even that big of a fan of racing myself, even though I dabble, but this film sucks me in to it. You can smell the exhaust and practically feel the heat warbling from the race track as the cars go screaming by.

Niki Lauda has an interesting philosophy. I'm not saying it's completely right but it makes sense. Especially put in contrast to Hunt's playboy wildman counterpart. But how he applies this philosophy, how he and Hunt's stories intertwine, and what happens in their lives that effects their racing is just so endlessly engrossing to me.

I was blown away with how good the film was when I first watched it the year it was released and now I revisit it at least every couple of years. It just seems to get better and better with age.

So for those out there they may have zero interest in racing I would say don't skip this one. You'll thank yourself later.

Sonic 2, Sonic 3 and Knuckles, X-Men 2, and Lion King on Genesis. I grew up playing and owning these games so it's a nice relaxation session to sit and play any of them now. Only emulated these days as I sold my original Genesis and games but I tend to play them on Wii on a CRT which still provides a mostly proper experience IMO.

I have of course beaten Sonic 2 and S3+Knuckles many times but Lion King and X-Men 2 remain undefeated.
I've gotten close with each. One day they shall be conquered while I'm chilling.

If you're going to watch Picard just stick to the third season. Even the show runners made it feel the first two were completely pointless. Which I would say they are. I blanked out all of season two for example. I couldn't even tell you what happened. Season one is passable if you want more Data lore and story but it's kind of flat overall. Season three however was pretty good and is a nice nod to and appreciation of TNG. Well worth a watch.

I would argue Sex and Candy is the weakest song on it and it's still very good.

I have listened to the rest of their albums too and they are quite good. I'm just not as familiar as I am with their first. They definitely deserve a deeper dive from music heads.

I personally love it quirks and all. Same with SG1 of course. Rodney's character growth is great and the sense of adventure the show creates has been rarely recaptured by much since except maybe The Expanse. IMO of course.

I gave Flow (2024) a watch after coming across it and absolutely loved it. It's a silent animated film starring a kitty who is caught up in a weather related apocalyptic situation in a world devoid of humans.

The animation is wonderful, the animal characters are realistic but extremely emotionally expressive, the plot had me guessing constantly, and the tension hit perfectly.

I was invested from start to finish and that's hard for me things these days when I find fewer and fewer films to be this riveting. So I would absolutely recommend it.
