Chattanooga-borne here, this is literally nothing but a broad stroke of idealistic paint. Sure, there’s a lot of nice outdoor space, and downtown is “quaint”. However, wages are stagnant, housing prices are out of control, leadership is thoroughly inept and steeped in a culture of not creating any meaningful forward progress, and violent crime is through the roof.

Not really comprehensive, and kind of insulting really. Then again, I no longer live there after 30+ years, so I don’t really have much skin in the game.

    https://www.apple.com/apple-intelligence/

Processing happens on-device, on the off chance it has to leave it goes to third-party verified private compute nodes that do not retain the data. If you leverage ChatGPT (optional), they may get some of your data, but they’re even clear when that will happen and explicitly warn you.

I think you fundamentally misunderstand how it works - I’d rewatch the videos revealing it, as they go into detail.

Broadband over electrical lines is a nonstarter. It’s highly interference-prone, has limited bandwidth, and in general is not a scalable solution. Some utilities make use of it for relaying things like smart meter data, which is a good application as it’s redundant data that is somewhat fault tolerant. For average consumer use though, it would not be a pleasant experience.

Well you've had Turner Broadcasting there for a long time, and also Tyler Perry's productions and other things. The state began offering big incentives for productions there in the early 2000's, and then offered even more around the time of the 2008 financial crisis. I don't know that it was a concentrated effort by the bigger production houses to make a move TO Georgia, but moreso that it grew a lot of its own production facilities and companies more organically, with the incentives then enticing others to come shoot there.

They could be purchasing data in the form of a user profile that Google/Amazon/whoever has built based on their collecting of your information, then just using rudimentary AI to deliver targeted ads to an area with it.

But yeah in general, I don’t believe some solitary marketing company has the brain nor actual power to corner a market like this, this is just flavor text wrapped around some other garbage.

Smart speakers and such have been a prime target for years for security and other research, so if they actually do have some way of passively doing this and it’s been missed all this time, then it’s going to be a huge conspiracy, not a little one.

This is the answer. You have solved the technical issue, which is providing an easy-to-use centralized place to store knowledge. Now management and HR need to solve the people issue, which is making sure people use it, and use it properly. Document what “using it properly” looks like. Let them devise how they will do the enforcement. It can be as simple as them saying, “wow, this new widget system looks great - where can I find the documentation to read about it?” and then actually following through on setting that expectation that an idea/process/product is not complete and ready until it has documentation also.

You cannot solve people issues through technology, but you can endlessly frustrate yourself and erode internal trust by trying.

Nashville SC fan here. The Leagues Cup penalty kick shootout in the final between them and Miami (with Messi) was an unbelievable moment, and crazy to watch. Definitely up there for me.

Messi joining Miami has brought whole new sets of eyes to the league, and really elevated the game I feel. You don’t have to look much further than Robert Taylor on Miami as well to see that Messi’s presence seems to spur people to really bring the A game. It’s been an exciting time.

Apple picture and production quality seems to have brought a lot of care into the league as well, and it has a high polish that makes it easy to watch and enjoy. MLS pass is somewhat expensive, sure, but it’s a one stop shop for all things MLS, and there’s no blackouts or other ridiculous stuff you normally expect with streaming sports.

Loving the MLS and also hopeful Apple can get some other cool streaming rights, like F1.

I was a voracious consumer of Harmontown, and followed all his projects quite closely. When he shuttered Harmontown I was pretty bummed. Reading this though, it sounds like he realized that it wasn’t conducive to a fully transformative experience. I’m quite glad he didn’t go the way so many others do, sliding into never changing or introspecting, and becoming tabloid gossip.

Security hygiene is unfortunately like that - it requires regular work. A cadence of maybe once a quarter once you have it in a normal place suffices, in my experience.

The app “Permission Slip” by Consumer Reports will automatically work on removing a lot of your data that’s out there, and opting you out of various lists.

In addition to that, I recommend searching your name, phone number, etc every so often, and if data comes up, take 5 minutes or so and ask the site to remove it. Most of the public data aggregator sites have a method by which to do it, though it’s often cumbersome; it’s well worth it though.
