Blocki - For Walks : this one is actually my favorite so far. I bought their Discovery Set because so many sounded really good on their website, but I fell in love with this one. I never expected the combination of scents in it. "Earthy, fresh, violet." I wear this most often.
Smells Like Books - Feyre : I really loved the scent descriptions in ACOTAR, so I sought out perfumes inspired by them. I absolutely love the scent of lilacs and combined with the fruitiness of pear, it's so good. This one is more pear-forward, which is fine. It turns out I love fruity scents too. Unfortunately it's an eau de toilette, so it doesn't last as long on me as regular perfumes do.
Along the same lines as Smells Like Books' Feyre, I also enjoy Wonderwick - Feyre : this one is much more lilac-forward, so I like it when I want a stronger floral fragrance rather than fruit-forward.
Apparently I have a type because I also picked up the Bridgerton - Dearest Graceful Hydrangea from Ulta. I can't seem to access the page for it on Ulta's site currently, but quite like the floral, woody, fruitiness of this one. The scent always reminds me of something when I wear it, but I can't remember right now 😅
Non-perfume fragrances: huge fan of fall and winter scents, particularly anything with spices. Quince had a candle this past winter called Spiced Noel, with the description of fresh-cut pine, mulling spices, and sparkling citrus. I loved it so much that I ended up buying 3 total. Just having it out to smell and not lit smells so good; when lit, it has excellent throw. It fills the room and travels up the stairs, my husband loves it too. I think it's a dupe for NEST's Holiday candle, so I'd like to try that one eventually. In the meantime, I'll enjoy the candles I have (regardless of the the time of year!)

Comment on Why is it so hard to get an ADHD diagnosis? How do you find a good psychologist? in ~health.mental

My diagnosis was across 3 appointments with a psychologist who specialized in the testing: first a 1-hour telehealth interview/discussion, second the in-person 4-5 hours of intense behavioral testing, and third telehealth results discussion.
What helped me prepare for it was making a list of all of the behaviors and experiences I could think of that may or may not be related to ADHD. My mom is neurotypical and actually has an incredible memory, so I asked her about what she remembered from my childhood, and I added what she told me to my growing list. I also wrote down the diagnosed members of my family because there was no way I'd remember in the moment. I have a tendency to panic when asked questions like "so what are you experiencing that makes you think you might have ADHD?" and my mind goes blank. I wanted to avoid that and give the psychologist all of the information I could. I actually couldn't find the notebook I'd written everything in before the appointment and so listed off what I could remember. She said I could email her the rest when I found the notebook (I did).

Guess what my quiz and final exam require and are due Monday? Our professor is not giving any extensions. The course is scheduled to end Monday night and the school requires her to have grades submitted on Tuesday.

And yet, I'm excited for A&P2 to start (end of January). But I didn't realize how burnt out I was until this last week. I've slept so much and am just finally getting my energy back. In talking with my husband, he pointed out that all I had time for before was work, schoolwork, and a little sleep. This rest has been very welcome, and he's reminded me that breaks are important.
Separately, I've been working with my psych to find a better combination of medications because now I have a bunch of evening meetings for work, in addition to the only time I have to do schoolwork. A higher Adderall XR dose was not lasting as long as I needed, so I brought up trying a non-stimulant and going back to the lower XR dose that generally works really well for me. She agreed, but added that if this doesn't work, we should try Vyvanse. So now I'm on 1mg guanfacine, 10 mg Adderall XR, and 5mg Adderall IR as needed. It's definitely helped me get into a normal sleep schedule finally. I feel better when I wake up, and I'm not hitting snooze a ton of times. It's easier for me to get up in the morning. This week I have all my evening meetings (some are every other week), so it will be a good test to see if I can focus as intended on them.
I'm nervous about applying to accelerated nursing programs, but here's hoping it goes well. This will be one of my focuses next week.

Also some lizards that are all female but take turns performing as the male role in reproduction to stimulate ovulation, allowing reproduction via parthenogenesis: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Mexico_whiptail
It's pretty neat! And shows that sex and gender are not as binary as certain people are trying to force everyone to believe.

Reston seems to get hit by the worst of the storms every time I check radar and wonder why we're not getting the storm a little south of them, tornado warnings included. And yeah, no tornado sirens here. I have a weather radio (battery powered with solar/handcrank options for emergencies) and phone just in case.

Without meds, it's noisy. There are a ton of different thoughts/trains of thoughts all the time that I don't have control over, along with a background of static. With meds, I can pick the thought I want and focus on it, and there's no static. I can clear my mind on meds.

Adderall XR works really well for me, and on it, even my low 10 mg dosage, I'm amazed at the quiet. I've been on the same dosage for almost a year (tried Concerta and something else I can't remember right now before it), and I still sometimes sit and marvel at the peace and quiet while on it. I can actually get the things done that I want to get done. My favorite example is laundry: I love having clean clothes, put away in their storage places, but off of meds, they will sit in the dryer (or clean laundry basket) for days on end. And I'd feel shame every time I walked by it. On meds, my laundry is finally dry? Let me put that away now so future me will be happy to have clean clothes, folded and put away in their respective drawers (or hanging in the closet).

Eventually, we progressed to reading together. I remember being proud of being able to read my favorite book in kindergarten, "Stellaluna."
I ended up being an avid reader as a result. But apparently, in 4th grade, when everyone was first reading the Harry Potter books, my 4th grade teacher thought it was too difficult for me and wanted to discourage me from reading it. I did it anyway. I got in trouble in that class for reading ahead in the class book too (Where the Red Fern Grows).

They have a $25 bottle of wine list that we'd pick from and split, and depending on the daily pastas, we'd do the endless pasta. I took my husband here when we went back for a family visit and he loved it.
The other restaurants sound excellent too, would love to try them next time we're back in town.

When I was looking for info on the same thing, cedar can also damage wool over time, but paper or a fabric bag is enough to prevent it. I have some cedar hangers in my closet too. No moths yet and hoping it stays that way.
So, so anxious and sad. I gave notice at work this week after being there for 14 years. I absolutely love my team and my manager, and I like what we do. How many people can say that? I consider myself extremely lucky in that respect. But I know the long term goals for our department and, along with automation, there will be major job cuts in the next 5 years for us. I'm going to miss my team so, so much. They are genuinely wonderful people and I hope we can stay in touch.
So I'm going back to school to change my career: UBCO for my BSN. It's intimidating, but after the years of therapy and getting my medication sorted out, I feel ready for it. I just hope I can get transfer credit for the classes I've taken over the past 1.5 years, and maybe even my previous degree. My study permit was approved super quickly, and due to the program I'm going to, my spouse also qualifies for a work permit. I've lived and worked in another country before, but not like this. It's been a dream of mine to move out of the US since high school, and I'm so grateful to finally be making that happen. My spouse is very excited (and anxious) for it too.
