I think that this is the equivalent of heavy cream in the US: https://www.k-ruoka.fi/haku?q=kerma&tuote=pirkka-kuohukerma-2dl-6410405142597

If you take this and shake it until the solids clump into butter, the remaining liquid is buttermilk. https://www.kingarthurbaking.com/blog/2022/04/08/how-to-make-butter-at-home

Lots of people get their license at 16 and then lose the mechanical ability and mental acuity to properly control a vehicle as they age.

Or, at least for me, you forget stuff or didn’t pay attention at 16. And then you’ve got to rely on search results and trying to interpret what you find.

The greatest positive impact on my driving was having to basically go through driver’s Ed again to get a USAREUR license when I was stationed in Germany at 19.

I’ll echo this. I played through high school, then took 10 years off until I found volunteer bands. A couple years in a corporate band, couple year break with a cross-country move, and now a community band since 2019.

Sheet music reading is more important for my band experience, but I agree on the importance of ear training. It helps to be able to hear a melody played by someone else and pickup on it yourself.

What’s your MOS and rank? I was an E4 33W in the mid 2000’s, but not diagnosed until 2019. In some things I think it was a detriment, general tidiness certainly! And the appetite suppression side effect of the adderal would have been helpful as well.

On the flip side, I think the squirrel effect was a benefit for situational awareness- you notice when something moves. Maybe a disadvantage to stealth, but that didn’t matter in a humvee turret. Also as lower enlisted, most orders were in workable chunks.

My daughter has been using it ~1/wk for the past 2 school years. Canned soup, left overs, spaghettios. If the contents aren’t mostly liquid, I’ll put some water from the kettle in to preheat it. Then it goes right in the dishwasher, haven’t had any problems yet.

Content: NPR+, AdmiralCloudberg, Dan Carlin, War on the Rocks. Marketplace in the past, can’t remember if it’s still current.

Hosting, etc: Nixihost and Hover for server and domains, and some mailboxes through hover.

Suburban Michigan, US. Family of 4.

We’ve had a go-bag in the past, but designed around an impromptu hospital trip than the zombie apocalypse. In our location we’re not at risk for flash flooding or wildfire, so we’re more likely to bug in than bug out.

My preparedness plan is largely Costco. TP was on sale, so we but a couple. Next trip, I’ve forgotten how much we have, and it’s still on sale, so buy another. It was late 2021 before we used up our pre-Covid stock. And so there’s always a good bunch of canned goods or shelf stable food.

Beyond that, we try to keep the cars at half a tank or greater, have some flashlights, external battery for phones, etc. basically enough to get through a few days snowed in.

But it looks like Fairphone has been around since 2013, so I’m hopeful that they’ll be around to provide this support.

I don’t think the solution for people being unbanked is to require everyone to accept cash. We need to find ways to bring everyone into the banking system that wants to be, either through incentives to existing financial institutions or creation of standardized bank accounts at the Fed.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soundboard_(computer_program)

I'm not sure if could identify the scammer, but for me I was trying to determine how likely it was to be a scam. A soundboard might have 100 phrases on it, so if you ask a question and get a response that doesn't make sense, or hear the same line repeated exactly over and over, that's an indication the voice you're hearing isn't the person. But this is how things might have been done ~10-15 years ago, and I'm sure the technology is better by leaps and bounds.

So for why you would use this - if you're an email scammer, you can just copy paste the first email, and you probably have a set of replies that you can copy paste and lightly edit. But when you're using the phone, that's a lot of talking that may or may not pay out. Also you probably want to sound different - the caller might be anywhere in the world, but want an accent that is local or makes sense for the call. If you can just click a button that says "give me my money", its a lot easier.
