I love it! Super fun with friends, but less stress than something like Escape from Tarkov. You can be more competitive in the smaller servers or you can treat it as a mindless shooter on the larger. There's no real punishment for dying or losing, so personally it scratches a lot of itches for me.

It’s way worse when you’re working with a team that’s not aligned with your ideals. For side projects I take my time and usually over engineer things to learn what I like.

I use Migadu for email and Google for everything else. For notes I really like Obsidian, or just a simple text editor.

We’ve got a mix of cast iron and All-Clad steel pans. Highly recommend both. We have some Staub and Le Creuset cookware as well that gets its fair share of use.

I knew a bit of Java before high school, but learned C++ through a book during. Mostly used it to automate some of my math homework.

In college it was mostly Java, C# and Python. My internships were all over the place in terms of tech used.

My first job was JavaScript and Ruby. Second job was Java, C++, JavaScript, Python and Ruby. Tons of SQL if you count that. Now I primarily do Typescript and Go. Most of my side projects are in Rust.

Which is ironic, as it’s — in my experience — much more challenging and you would expect the average programmer to enjoy a good challenge. I consider backend development to be “solved” to some extent. There is a definite “right” way to structure your backend for most scenarios. I find that aspect of the job to be very boring most of the time.

Kali Malone - The Sacrificial Code

There is something special about this album and its take on Drone music with an Organ. There are a few similar albums, like Áine O'Dwyer - Music for Church Cleaners that are also particularly good.

Helps me focus in the way that non-vocal electronic, or heavy metal does.
