I never bothered until i wanted to use Bixby to automate a routine. To update it you need a Samsung account. I do actually really like their automations. I have one running for when android auto connects - my phone automatically goes into do-not-disturb mode and only calls and signal notifications are let through; the other is to fix an issue Samsung caused themselves - their eye comfort shield (blue light filter) scheduling is borked, but you can fix it in a routine.

If you're into that sort of thing, it's pretty neat. If not, then I can't really think of any reason why you should bother, assuming that you have Google for your normal backups.

Same experience, "tiger up close" has its first 20 or so images from stock image websites with the photographer credited for each. Interestingly I've been frustrated with my normal search results being cluttered with AI bullshit, but now that I think about it my image searches are pretty clean still. I wonder why, but am not complaining.. about the image searches that is..

This is location specific. Not sure where OP is, but its not that bad in the Netherlands for example. It's also field specific. We're still so desperate for software developers in the Netherlands I had to beat recruiters off me with a stick every time they saw 'SQL' and 'Python' on my resume and missed the part where I'm clearly not a fucking software developer

Not to hate on you or anything, and I'm sorry if your experience has been shitty of course.

Just saw your edit: i also have adhd and wasn't diagnosed until 27. I've talked some about how the medication has helped me on Tildes, it's in my comment history if you're interested!

I will definitely say that I had to work HARD to prevent sticking-head-in-sand syndrome even with the meds. I compromised by, for example, still taking a weekend (didn't do job hunting sat/sun, unless I saw an ad for something I really liked). I strongly recommend going down the diagnosis route if you're considering doing so, but if not then at least remember to be kind to yourself and know that it's not just you - job hunting always sucks. It's never fun. You might do really well, or it might take a few months or weeks. But no one enjoys this and there's nothing wrong with just slamming your laptop closed and giving up for the day every once in a while.

Are you in a tech-y industry or trying to get into one? If so:

    1. Get Linkedin if you didn't have that already
    2. update it and just add anyone you've been in contact with the last 6 months. The entry-bar for adding people on LinkedIn is a lot lower than, say, Instagram or something.
    3. Get LinkedIn premium. First month is usually free, and if you plan to apply via linkedin or indeed etc., I highly recommend it. Please do also note that I do not recommend it at any other point and actually hate LinkedIn, but it's a necessary evil when job hunting (and it's pretty good for tech jobs, it's how I got my last 2 jobs), and in my experience the best way for recruiters to find you.
    4. if you're in an industry that requires cover letters, get a subscription to an LLM (e.g. ChatGPT or Claude) and get it to help you customize the way you word things on your resume. Ex: I'm a data analyst and a data management/governance specialist. When applying to analyst jobs I make sure to emphasize my statistical knowledge, when applying to data governance jobs I emphasize my SQL and data warehouse experience.

I hope that's some useful advice :) I'll note that it's of course location and field dependent on how successfull the advice above is, but I do hope it helps!

Best of luck!! Oh and as for time, I spent around 4 hours a day doing job-hunting stuff, I tried to send out roughly 2-3 quality applications per day (depending on what's available as well). I used my LinkedIn premium to find jobs that were suited to my skills (top jobs that match your skills it's called or something), which I recommend filling out fully (its 50 skills you can input into your profile) if you have diverse or very specific skills. I have a bit of a weird specialism within my field so it was a life saver to get jobs recommended to me that were tailored to me, rather than just 'data analyst in the Netherlands + SQL' or something.

Ooo GDPR is a good one, which I definitely echo. I'll add onto that that with GDPR came a heavier focus on data security in general - probably because GDPR forced companies to hire actual data security consultants. Suddenly there's courses on preventing social engineering we have to pass, and the guillotine for those who leave their desk with their computer unlocked! Not complaining mind you - I used to be the only data security 'nag', but now suddenly every other day an email went out from up top scolding everyone about the shit I'd been pointing out for years, LOL

I've never had a car until 6 months ago, which pretty much coincided with getting a job I need to drive to (public transport is 4x as long).

I've driven that car to and from work, up to 5 times per week.

Every. Single. Day. I end up in traffic.

I've still never checked the 'traffic radar' my country religiously maintains. Logically, I know I should check it so I can decide to leave earlier or later, my work doesn't mind what time I arrive at all.

But still, every. single. day. Total suprise-pickachu when I'm stuck in traffic again...

Maybe you'd want to add some filters so that you don't get the news posts that much? I've got a bunch of filters setup (mainly to block out politics and sports) and if I see news things it's usually very niche (like, tech news developments that I actually want to read about as well as scientific advancements).

My vote is for podcast Republic! I absolutely love that i can "delete" episodes from my podcast subscriptions and they won't be backfilled. I need that cause I love Jim Morrison and all his dateline podcasts, but every time a new podcast is made ALL their dateline podcasts receive a new 'promotional' minute-long episode. That's infuriating so I'm glad I can remove them.
