Jasper is home and doing a lot better for anyone who didn't see the edits to my previous comment!
Glad to hear that.
Still has to wear the cone of shame though
Yeah, gotta have the cone for another week so he doesn't lick at his surgery scar.
meow meow great server and lots of fun to play :3
Agreed! (meow)

Dear esteemed @creesch van de Huiseigenarenvereniging,
I am pleased to informed you that I have finally stopped procrastinating and I have constructed one of the two planned extensions for The DeLijn Line. In specific:
@Noox's old stop (stairs-based) has been replaced by a proper stop with an elevator
A stop for my wonderful fellow cat people, @faye_luna and @Nankeru, has been added (connected via elevators)
A stop for @Felicity's Flower Hill has been added (connected via elevators)
In the case of Noox's and Felicity's bases, I have taken the liberty to create a small overground "metro stop" (so that the elevators can easily be found) because Noox and Felicity are too busy with IRL stuff and cannot currently create one themselves. For faye_luna and Nankeru, I decided to let them decorate the area around the elevators on their own as they're both currently active.
Oh motherfuckers. I spend 10 years making sure I NEVER have to deal with a VVE and then I get grandfathered into one anyway?!? 😉❤️
I mean, you are an honorary HOA member by proxy. You knew that right?
Je kan me contributie uit me dooie klauwen kome hale!!!!!
Wel de lusten, niet de lasten. I see how it is... ;)
Quick aside: I was watching Star Trek last night, and there was a point where they activated the "translation matrix" to decode an alien user interface. It feels so futuristic that I was able to copy/paste the above exchange into google translate, and it seamlessly detected that it was Dutch and converted it. Now I can laugh along with you even though I speak not one word of Dutch. We're living in the future. ❤️
Haha, I kind of encouraged creesch to embrace his unofficial role as the town's HOA and create an HOA office inside the mall... But I'm just an innocent little catgirl so it's clearly not my fault :P
Just don't pay... what are they going to do?
[TLDMC-1022] Assigned: Bluemap - Update "DeLijn Line" stops
Hi @creesch,
You have been assigned a new issue on Jira:
TLDMC-1022 - Bluemap - Update "DeLijn Line" stops
Project: TLDMC
Issue Type: Task
Priority: Medium
Status: New
Story Points: 2
Assignee: @creesch
Description:
Update the Bluemap representation for the "DeLijn Line" stops.
Extend the existing backend JSON structure to add new stop entries for Felicity and for faye_luna/Nankeru.
Remove the previous stop associated with Noox and replace it with the appropriate new stop.
Adjust the line mapping to align with the updated path, ensuring the route accurately follows the new stop layout instead of the outdated one.
Validate changes in the Bluemap environment to confirm correct rendering and functionality.
QA Acceptance Criteria:
New stops for Felicity and faye_luna/Nankeru appear correctly in the JSON structure and are rendered accurately on Bluemap.
Noox's old stop has been fully removed and replaced with the new correct stop.
The "DeLijn Line" path follows the new stop layout seamlessly without visual glitches or broken segments.
No regression issues are present elsewhere in the Bluemap stop or line structure.
JSON validation passes with no syntax errors or schema violations.
Please make sure the updated data integrates smoothly without breaking existing functionality. Unit tests shall be attached to your pull request.
Oo sorry, but QA needs acceptance criteria for this ticket!!
Acceptance criteria have been added.
I don't remember this story from refinement, poker or planning sessions. I talked with the team, they are okay with picking this up, but it obviously means that we need to move on two point story to the next sprint.
Jokes aside, I'll try to make some time this week to update the map. I also realized I never extended the purple line either so that needs some cleaning up.
@ everyone who is new, are there any homes or other locations you have build you'd like to have added to the map?
Things I'm aware are missing:
The delijn line and purple line have both been updated now :). I'll do a pass on those locations in the list later. I am not sure where the ToteRose village is and flower hill (Is that felicity?).
Flower hill is indeed Feli's base, and ToteRose is, I believe, in the village directly south of the arena
Ahh, my South is moving so gimme a bit on that. I'll try to get to it but I was distracted by progress on the northern road :)
But it will be in the relatively flat area south of the stupid ugly wooden mountain topper with torches - on the sw side of that mountain - if you'd rather mark it before it exists.
I'll connect it to the first southern effort I made once that is established.
Jira is free for up to 10 users. Someone sufficiently motivated has the option of taking this joke too far.
Thanks for the idea ;)
I spent a year and a half in analytics and I'm having flashbacks to Jira. I both love and hate the idea of implementing this haha.
And for anything self-hosted (well, many things - I don't do docker), I could host instances. lol
Hi all!
To whoever cares - the second of two extensions for the De Lijn line is now functionally complete as well. In specific:
Shroomlandia's old stop (stairs-based) has been replaced by a proper stop with an elevator
A stop for @dhcrazy333's Titanic has been added (connected via elevators)
A stop for @zestier's islands has been added (connected via elevators)
In this case, I have not created overground stops yet for @dhcrazy333 and @zestier, because both of them can be considered kind of semi-active players right now. For Shroomlandia, the brown mushroom house has been used as a stop. For dhcrazy333 specifically, I suggest that they make the overground stop be a little iceberg, considering that it's basically in front of the Titanic :P
So if you ever wanted to go from Tildetown to zestier's islands in 60 seconds? Now's your chance ;)
Things I still need to do (and will likely do on Saturday):
@creesch, please update the bluemap accordingly :P
Draft drawing of where the De Lijn line goes as of right now
Absolutely love the idea of an iceberg themed stop for the Titanic area haha.
Moving has been going well and we are in the home stretch so I'm hoping in the next week or two I'll be able to hop back on and see all the wonderful progress everyone made.
I need get on and build a stop then. Been busy with other stuff, but that project doesn't sound too huge so maybe I'll be able to find some time.
I mean, the ones I created for Noox and Felicity were a 6x3 box with a roof... Nothing fancy needed :D
The map board thingy has been repaired
Graci
Road construction going on north of Tildestown. I'm out of town until tomorrow night. I don't think it'll be a serious issue, but in case anyone notices.... the road is there, just dumb and skinny. hehe. It'll be fixed. :)
I have gotten sucked into a rabbit hole of wireless redstone technology and, still, not been on the server.
My term project presentation went well! I have finals over the next week, and then my schedule will be much more free. In the bit of free time I did have, I got talked to some of the other folks in the wireless redstone community so have been distracted by that.
Redstone Update
I have been working with a group of people that are constructing a wireless networking card for computational redstone to shrink my design and make it more lag friendly. With some of their feedback, I have constructed the smallest wireless receiver with a channel selector! It is much smaller and easier to build than the behemoth I had before.
It also has an "off" switch now, which is big for server etiquette.
They have given some more feedback on that design and suggested some modifications with pistons that should make it even more compact, simpler, and cheaper to build.
This has a couple benefits: there is no longer really limit to build more of these stations. The maximum would be 31 players across 31 waypoints, and this can be expanded. The only consideration is the lag impact, which is much reduced from the "behemoth," still near zero, but still not nothing. So I still plan to build no more than 5 or 6.
One interesting thing that this allows for is very small personal waypoints. I could build a small receiver with near 0 lag impact at people's bases; you could travel to any of the public waypoints and teleport back home. In principle it is also possible to build additional transmitters, but selectable ones are bulkier and more expensive. The easiest solution would be to choose a "primary" waypoint, and have quick teleportation from base to there. From the primary waypoint, you have access to the full network.
I'm at a point to open discussion: Where do people want these waypoints? How many people would be interested in a personal recall waypoint?
Bear in mind that the receivers are quite loud, as they have pistons and trapdoors running on a clock. The clock may be turned off, but this disables the waypoint. I intended to build these in spires, roughly a 16x16 footprint, so that the receiver can be up off the ground to keep the noise away. They can also be buried deep underground, but I figure a tall spire is a good visual marker of a waypoint anyway.
I figure:
This level of Redstone is magic to me. Seems like impressive stuff, great work!
Teleportation you say? I would be down to help build the waypoint in Tildetown. I think a good spot would be just north of the transit hub. I have been considering covering up the rails and building on top in that spot.
At some point I mean to share details about how it works in the recurring "What technical projects have you been working on" or making a dedicated post with details in ~comp.
But the last couple days the technical folks have taught me about "block event delay" which we've been able to combine with my item protocol for a pretty huge leap in compacting the machines. So I want to push that a little further before settling on a design to bring into tildes.
This looks like the system docm77 built on his channel yeah? If so, we should put a waypoint out near @mintysaurus place so we can get to the concrete duper faster!
For what it's worth, @creesch found a chicken-powered cannon design on yt that allows you to travel like 4000 blocks in a couple of seconds or something.
I saw that design! By Unhappybean. They posted a revision that reloads a bit faster using infested potions, the same mechanic as the silverfish XP farm in town.
https://youtu.be/qk9QAwh4PBc
It is similar, built on the same principle. However I want to allow anyone to use it, which means I need to transmit a lot more information than Doc does. I've been putting effort into condensing things so it's cheaper/easier to build in survival, and does not use so many items and redstone components so it has negligible lag impact.
Mintysaurus is a good destination, they're way out there even on the nether roof. But, like I said, the machines are loud. @mintysaurus do you think it better to put the machine up out of the way in one of the structures at your base, buried deep underground, or just constructed somewhere nearby?
I don't really care what happens to the interiors of those buildings, and I don't play with sound so you can put it wherever you want. It's probably only going to fit in like 3 buildings though. Feel free to use the materials in the underground storage area, or you can just put it down there if it doesn't fit anywhere(accessible behind the base of the throne in the big building behind the nether portal).
How do you not play with sound? I've tried it but it's too weird. I turn the sound down enough that its background noise, but so I can still hear my footsteps and if monsters are around/hitting me
I just released a new version of the web chat mod for the few people that use it:
@TaylorSwiftsPickles The DeLijn Line elevator has been moved to a more prominent location in the transit hub. I will add a little more design underground next time I am on.
That's awesome, thank you!
Working on opening up to the north of Tildestown:

I have plans:
https://ieh.im/s/msedge_A2TKbUxHht.png
https://ieh.im/s/msedge_WaTXyQ4t3n.jpg
I'm planning to extend the road out of Tildestown up to the water and build a small dock.
Generally speaking, I'm planning to build a road from around that dock area over by the balloons and connct over to Daytowne North.
Currently, the road that right now peels off from the Tildestown road connects to a station entrance. But I plan to extend the road from the turn to the station and keep it going straight with a tunnel under the large mountain and basically connect it over in the area of Tildestown.
Of course being careful of existing stuff, but there's not a whole lot out there where I'm going.
I'll be looking for other areas in which to work, so if anyone would like to suggest some places that they'd like to see opened up... road building is really what I find probably the most satisfying to do. heh. I like fixing up villages and connecting them. I always want to build large farms on the outskirts, but I never have the patience. I love what everyone else builds, but I know I'm simple and less talented.
I don't mind buildng road+rail lines, although I'd probably leave the rail laying to someone else. But I can help build structure.
I personally hate the elevated lines, though, so my preference is to build with the terrain, not against it. No hate toward the builders, all styles are valid and there is also something nice about being able to see farther and being a little above the terrain.
I like the idea of increasing the road system on the north end of town. I have some initial thoughts on the proposed connection from Cathedral Hall Station to Daytowne North. That area has a really nice wilderness vibe to it, so I feel like potentially doing straight wide roads in that area would not be ideal, and instead doing narrow winding paths might be a better fit. @secret_online did a really nice scenic loop southeast of town, that could be useful inspiration for what I think would fit better in that area. I think part of my stance on that, is recently with the fog mod that I am running, I find looking over that valley is really nice, so I want to build there but unsure what would fit so have left it as a blank canvas until I have an idea but I am also not claiming that area yet either.
On the idea of increasing town and building more roads, I think it is worth considering the balancing act of expansion. Right now, I feel like there is limited room to build (as evidenced by @hamstergeddon's comment about not finding room in town to build), but also we do not want to create too many empty lots that it feels empty. When I started (lots of players joined in quickly and helped me) the overhaul process of cleaning up/formalizing the modern district south of town, I created some empty lots by clearing trees, and they were quickly filled. So, having too many trees can hinder building. However, it would also suck if we cleared the forests near people's homes to create empty lots that never get filled (in particular, I am thinking across the road from Zatamazzar and Bront).
Edit: I want to stress, I am not against the project, and part of being on a server is letting people build things differently than what I would build. Sometimes that leads to constraints that could be either positive or negative. A constraint can be positive in creating a different approach that turns out nice, like Hamster building underground connected to an abandoned section of metro line. A neutral constraint would be when j0hn built his kelp farm (which I was not as close as I am now when he built it), that clashed a bit with the style of my home, so I had to strategically use the part of the mountain that juts out to create a divide between the builds. A negative constraint that can be frustrating, is when I am working on my home, and part of my previous build ends up in the way of where I want to build. So with your planned road expansions, it will create constraints for me if I decide to expand more, and I am unsure if the constraint will become a positive or negative constraint. But if I do not want to deal with constraints caused by other people building, I should log off the server and play single player. Build how you are inspired to build, but I wanted to share my thoughts
Edit 2: Secret's loop starts at 117, 67, 282 and connects on the other end to both spawn and the south end of the acacia suspension bridge. That path works well in creating a scenic path to connect a few areas, but less so in creating new building plots.
You know, one of these days I should really log back into this server and continue all the armour stand work I had planned for both that path and my house. There'll still be a bunch of posed by not armoured stands in the train station from... however long ago I was last on. I guess I was reaching burnout on just doing armour stand work :(
I should also check to see if the secret_agent in the mall has any cases. Between Oblivion, another Minecraft server, and replaying BG3 with a friend I probably can't commit to playing on this server, but it'd be nice to run around and say hi.
Surely you can find some time to do just that ;) Or would it be too big of a temptation to also start building stuff then?
Sure, and I might do that, but I generally like being able to commit to games/servers long-term rather than popping in and out. Just a personal thing.
Tbh I've been joining just to chat for the past... 4 months?
Lies. I've seen you build a house. :) <3
I've started actually doing things again in the last 7ish days, to be fair. Slowly and steadily.
Was motivated by Evie to build a little house in your town, and motivated by my fellow cat people to expand the DeLijn line as I planned many months ago. But I kinda was burnt out for the last few months.
I mean, it makes sense. A new server is exciting, the options are endless. And there's aneed for factories and farms and a town and a house and then after a while, although the options are still endless, what else is there left to build? :)
Existing builds can be awesome, but then they are done and static.
Why do I even have a house? It's just to have one, and a central place to store excess materials, and perhaps a place for crafting blocks, but really with Minecraft, all you need is a bed and some tools and you can "live" anywhere. So that we make buildings and such is already a little silly. :)
You could build a gyro shop that I redesigned some redstone to give you space for
All in good time
I hear your thoughts. well, I mean, lemme rephrase that :)
Am good with your thoughts. Will perhaps do a slab-based road which is easier to pull later. Also easier to make a little more winding.
I won't be clearing trees for the most part. I want to open up parts of the map not currently open - while not affecting "national park" type areas :)
but I figure having the roads will encourage development. So I definitely want to build farther out. But also, this is a somewhat mature server, so not a WHOLE lot might be added. But hopefully some.
I am most interested in fitting in with the server norms than I am with making a mark, if that makes sense. But that said.... I'm not a great house builder. I do think I'm generally good with roads - if nothing else because I enjoy doing them, or at least enjoy having them. heh.
So feedback and suggestions and gently poking are always welcome <3

A modification in progress
Thank you for excellent reply, will reply more later :)
I want you to feel enabled to build what you are inspired to build. I also want your builds to help inspire other people to build as well. The road work you have done is great, and there are some spots I have never paid attention to before that I want to build something beside your road, but do not have ideas yet. So I really like the idea of expanding the road network, and want to encourage that.
You are kind, and encouraging <3
Nice initiative! Building roads is also I like to do from time to time, infrastructure in general! I do think the roads currently have too many lights, though given your thoughts about mobs I can understand why you used so many :P Not sure what to make of the birch sides tbh. It isn't a bad look for roads, but it does not quite fit the roads we have so far. I am not intending to go full HOA here, just voicing my thoughts ;)
As far other projects go, I believe there is still a stretch of road missing between your town south and the main town ;)
If you like decorating bridges the purple line has a ton of undecorated bridges.
Edit: Just saw the other comment.by Isildursbane, the idea of having it be a wilderness trail like the one we have south from town is something I'd think would fit pretty nicely in the area.
Will look at suggestions, thanks.
Birch edging is less common, but I do like it sometimes. however: https://ieh.im/s/msedge_WCh9oMbcPB.jpg - workin' on it
I'd rather build what most folks are happy to see :)
Looks good :)
Just to be clear, I am vocal about my thoughts. But they are also just my thoughts (The HOA thing really is just a joke). So I also want to echo what @IsildursBane
said here.
Whenever I give my opinion, it just that, an opinion and not necessarily the most correct one either.
Well, I mean, full 110% disclosure… lol…
When I went to play around in the dark oak forest nearish to town and was discouraged from doing so, there was a quick flash of irritation, but that's just an ADHD thing where I felt embarrassment at working in an area considered "let's keep this natural", because I didn't know, and so a number of quick emotions that happened faster than it takes to read this paragraph happened, and then I was 100% fine with it.
I say that to contrast with the opnions expressed by you and others in this thread, which did not and will not trigger such even a flash of irritation or disagreement. lol.
Frankly, I would like to become "the road guy". Not only here, but when we eventually reset the server, such that a litle urban planning can take place. lol. I'm all for some organic areas, mind, and I don't want a strict grid, but I think it would be nice to have a slightly more formal downtown with a largely strict grid (but some exceptions for interest).
I'd like to see 5-block wide standard in town, and perhaps a 3-block wide standard outside of town, although depends on the design, perhaps.
I tend to build straight roads that follow the terrain, but I need to up my design styles a bit, so I'm currently planning to do a more winding road with slabs that might be 2-3 wide from the station whose name I still can't remember over to Daytowne.
Like, I don't want to be the only one to build all the roads… but I would like to be involved heavily in that side of things. heh. I suck at buildings, but I can help facilitate transportation, opening up areas, making spaces for others to build awesome things maybe. :)
So really, it all boils down to me wanting all the opinions. especially because while I was there at the last one from close to the start, I'm coming into this one after it's been well established. :)
Basically, I want to play, but not impinge on anything that exists already.
I want to find the balance of creating roads how I would and like, and creating roads that everyone else will actually like and appreciate. heh
So that is probably far too much babbling on my part about all that, but hopefully a more articulated set of goals :)
Good to know :)
I realized while reading this that there might also be a cultural thing to this all of US vs European road design and growth ;). It's something I have noticed before, and I am painting with a broad strokes here as it isn't as binary.
Though it also depends on what you consider to be the width of the road I suppose. As one can argue that the roads in town are 5 blocks wide as I made sure they almost always have a strip of grass on each side. There are a few buildings where this isn't the case. If you say roads in town need to be 5 stone blocks wide I'd say that would feel out of proportion for my Dutch senses ;)
But, if you are arguing for more structure I can totally see that. Frankly, it is what I tried to do a little bit and partially earned me HOA moniker. As I was trying to pave the roads, bring structure to the town and also asking people to maybe not blindly build over existing infrastructure without replacing it or cleaning it up. I wasn't around for the previous iteration of the server, but at the start of this server there was this mad rush where everyone was building everywhere from spawn down to where town is now. Honestly, the initial club of people might not even have gone for plots on a grid now that I think back out it. There have been multiple infrastructure projects made with the idea that people might develop around them.
Anyway, that was a bit of a side tangent to what I was getting at. What I was thinking is that maybe on the next server we can have a mix. Lanes of 5 wide for the main roads where the neighborhoods splitting of from there get roads that are three wide. Just some idea, like I said I am just voicing my opinion and also being very dutch about it :P.
Also, as you might have gathered, I do like building infrastructure and thinking about it. So while I am absolutely okay with you becoming head of the road department I can't promise you will be the only one who will be involved in building roads next server.
I'd be happy for you to take the lead though, as I said earlier someone working on things like that at beginning is, I think, a good thing. So I hereby bestow you the title of "Path master general, commissioner of cobble and head honcho of highways" for the next server.
I see your babbling and will match it :P
Well, maybe not stone, but maybe. lol
I think it depends. Going 5 wide gives a chance for a road area and a sidewalk type border area.
So like with the Great Northern Road that has three blocks of birch and a border of dark oak. But where walls are needed, that would go in the border; for bridges, same - railings. But the main road surface would be three blocks wide.
I've actually worked on the road on the town side of the river - as well as tweaked the bridge across the river. I've basically completed what I wanted to do, so the question is - how much do you hate it? Any parts we can tweak to make it better?
I'm working on the road north of the river. A bit of it is completed, but I'm working on makin a couple of grass levels for a mini-park on the east side. An overlook for the big hole there :)
I am generally speaking okay with that idea.
I think we could look at some possibilities and work on some ideas.
Ideally to me:
A downtown area with some road planning such that it's got some sort of mostly-gridlike design, but keeping interesting. Here, possibly stone roads with stone or even iron sidewalks - road width 5. This area would have decently large blocks like the tree farms area so things like that could be built, along with skyscraper type builds
A neighborhood type area with medium-large estates. Less formal 5-width road - perhaps wood based like Great Northern Road - at least for main streets. We can rodk on designs for 3-wide smaller streets (but to have lighting and such, it will really be 5 wide I'd think)
But it would be nice to have like a downtown with skyscrapers, commercial zone with office-type buildings, industrial zone with factories, residential areas.
But also for commercial to offer some mixed use - shops on first level, apartments on second level.
Ideally, everyone could end up with multiple personal spaces in various places, although of course probably have a big estate as their main home.
I don't want to overplan and dictate, but bringing order from the chaos imho makes a better server.
I would rather partner up on this stuff than be The Road Dictator™ lol
But I also think it might be neat to try and have 2-3 or so centers of activity. Sure, a capital of Tildestown, but a couple of other smaller cities that also have a little planning. Perhaps a modern city, a less modern city, and a mideival style city. And it would be nice to even have a couple of more rural type villages with some farms and such.
And transportation to and from each.
Then folks could choose an area and hopefully match the general building style and it would all feel a bit more integrated rather than complete chaos.
Of course, there could be a town that develops chaotically without formal planning, too.
But again, I don't want to suggeest too many areas, more than what people might build. but I think something like the above would be a good starting place to work from and come up with practical ideas.
You'll be happy to hear that I introduced you to @ColdheartsTalon as The Road Guy™ yesterday
LOL. Actually… you might be surprised to hear just how happy that makes me, actually. I might let out a little "squee".
s q u e e
I promptly forgot it
In this specific comment, context :P Also, you made me.
I've decided to not work on the pirate island anymore. It stopped being fun and progress was slow. So for now I've returned to tildestown!
My old house is now a metro stop and severed head museum, however, so I set out to find a new place to call home. But the town is crowded and I got to thinking...you know who really knew how to live? The Ninja Turtles. Sewer life was clearly the way to live! I toyed with the idea of building a sewer system in town just to sneak a little house in there, but then I discovered there's an unused stretch of rail way on the red line leftover from when the station was moved above ground.
So now I have a "secret" lair under the town. I've also got a little underground bee farm going, with loose plan to make a honey stand in town. We may already have one? But I thought it might be fun to setup a small stand that has starter kits for beekeeping. Hives with 2-3 bees, some flowers, a campfire, etc.
I appreciate this mentality. Normalize abandoning video game projects that are not fun anymore
Hey, if you need some room to expand we also have the underground canal that doubles as a sewer. I know J0hn already connected it to it from his statue.
Edit:
Just had a look, if you extend the stairs up it almost perfectly aligns with the canal as well giving you a second exit :P
I may have to do that because it's awfully dangerous running up the tracks. Just a matter of time before I get hit by a minecart!
Glad someone could use some of that unused section. If you want more unused section, I moved a lot of the red line north of the river so lots of unused sections up there
I love it. If you make it all the way to the notice board, I hope you also add a little hidden entrance to the... Culturally Important Basement, if you know what I mean.
@daychilde I saw your house in town and it looks nice. I quite like the dark oak and iron block combination in that area. Also, I see the red metro line runs through your plot, if you want to adjust it so that it runs further underground, feel free to do so.
Thank you :) I'm a simple builder, but I'm glad it's not offensive. hehe
On the metro line - I didn't want to mess with existing structures. Although I thought the glass viewport might be an acceptable thing to do and I consider it a "feature" on the property.
After all, I 'reclamed' that bit of land and expanded it, so the least I can do is not interfere with the existing stuff. And I don't have anything to do over there except try to build a park/garden type area, which I'm not great at, but I will do anyway. heh
The philosophy I do when modifying existing community structures to better serve the current state of the server is to keep in mind the previous builder. A few examples are:
I redid the mechanics of community storage a few months back, which was a complete overhaul that involved tearing down the storage room of the old one. When decorating the new community storage, I kept a similar block palette of the old storage, to honour the previous builder. The new version better serves the community, but the decoration is done to honour the original builder.
When I relocated the north section of the red line, I decorated completely differently. The reason is the old section was not decorated, so I merely changed the position and decorated it differently.
When I moved the Town Central station of the red line to above ground, I looked around at other structures in town square, and imitated those styles, which led to the original style being lost.
All three of these projects I took different approaches depending on the situation required. All three projects were well received by the community. Since these were bigger projects, I did get feedback from the community before starting (except maybe Community Storage I just started I think). If there is a valid reason for changing something (even as simple as adding a building in unused land) I think it is fair game to adjust community infrastructure as long as you are blending it into the preexisting structure and trying to respect the previous builder's work
I still need to hop in and check out the updated storage area sometime!
You should. It stores almost every item in the game, since a big goal of the overhaul was switching over to multi-item sorters.
If you do hop on, you could also just check out the development of the server, since lots have changed since you were on last. The area around your house has not changed much (not much of us river dwellers on the server), but there has been significant changes in town.
The coolest (pun intended) transport line now has its own, proper metro-style map ;)
I appreciate Bluemap, and it is a great resource, but I enjoy when we have stuff like this in game, as it just makes it more immersive
I felt like, due to not only the massive length of The Line™ right now, but also its complexity (several intersections/branches) and the general "claustrophobia" you can get from such a tunnel, I felt it's absolutely needed. Not everyone is great with memorising directions, so making it as user-friendly as I could was a priority for me right now. I put one map on very stop and intersection.
I also just finished adding hanging signs indicating where every path goes on each intersection, as well as hanging signs clearly stating which stop you're currently at (if any).
For better or worse, though, I am personally concluding this project and I have no intention of further extending it myself. There are some great places to extend the line to (e.g. ColdheartsTalon's tower, Gravy's santa village, or even an extension southwest as suggested by john) but I have neither the energy nor the mood to extend it further myself. It's not so much the time investment (hell, both expansions combined took me around 2 "free" days in total, so it's fairly quick), it's the tediousness of it all, especially with all the lava pools I find every few blocks.
So if someone would like to "pick up the torch", feel free to! Otherwise, the DeLijn line will remain as it currently is (and it's already quite massive!)
My comment is more so showing appreciation for the metro map in game and not The De Lijn Line itself (although I quite appreciate it).
Hanging signs are good, I have before at intersections accidentally ended up doing a 180, so I like signs for me to stop doing that.
If I didn't have an existing long to do list, I would pick it up, but sadly I will pass on carrying on the tunnel work for now
I tried something like that with the previous server but it ended up being too crowded to fit everything together with labels from what I remember, so I like the idea of each line having its own map.
I had no clue someone tried to do that again!
Sadly, yeah, I don't think "all lines in one map" would work at all this season either, albeit for a different reason: some lines go absurdly far (yellow, purple), and some go short-ish distances but the stops are fairly close to each other (e.g. red).
If someone wants to copy this for the other lines, it's very easy to do!
The Great Northern Road has reached its first goal: Water: https://ieh.im/s/firefox_jziNxSZAbO.png
I will build a small dock there (anyone feel free to improve it), and then take the road a bit west and then north again.
edit: Going west! https://ieh.im/s/firefox_ELrV0DCUsf.png
Still neither north nor west enough to get me connected to civilization
@delphi, your home that you started is near my home. My ever growing plans for expansion are now starting to encroach on your area. I do not plan on tearing down what you have started, but my plans would end up boxing you in. I want to confirm that you are fine with that before I start my planned expansion
By all means, go ahead! Probably wont play anytime soon. Life gets in the way
That is kind of what I expected, but I wanted to confirm as it would be frustrating to come back and find out a single person has boxed in where you were building.
Proposal for road upgrade:
https://ieh.im/s/msedge_VMcQ9eG87E.jpg
I'm working on updating the road I recently built to use dark oak sides, with lampposts. So the birch side remaining will be replaced next. And I'll head up the other visible road with that as well.
But I'd like to upgrade this road segment to that style:
https://ieh.im/s/msedge_0RrzS6worY.png
As well as basically the rest of this same road, which leads into town:
https://ieh.im/s/msedge_hJhEJKjxbY.jpg
As I look at it, there are some blocks that would be where the sides of the road are, but I can leave those - I wouldn't destroy any other structure.
If this roadwork project is improved, I would either install wooden lampposts, or re-use the existing stone lighting structures, depending on opinions. That's also something that I could do whichever way was wanted and if that was hated, change it to the other way.
This would also involve playing with the bridge that crosses the river to make it fit the road's style.
I'm sort of opening this up as a new sub-topic because I'msure there will be opinions, and I need to know those opinions and get permission from folks. :)
If this project is not desired, that's no worries.
I'd also be willng to work on the project, and if it is hated, undo it.
Erm, and to clarify, I'm talking basically upgrading the three-wide birch road to be edged with dark oak logs, lit with wooden lampposts (or possibly stone in town, depending on that discussion).
Please, your honest thoughts because leaving things alone if that's desired is important to me. :)
I can also start with the road to thenorth of the bridge and if that is well-liked, revisit the portion of the road leading downtown. :)
Would people be interested in doing some PvP arena this Saturday? I was thinking doing it in the morning for North America, so that it would be easy for NA and EU players to participate
Edit: We could also do other minigames as well and make it a social play time, and do things like the Christmas village boat race and I also hear there is a great game near the mall with impeccable redstone by @Gravysleeve
I've never played in the arena so would totally be interested. Unfortunately, I am helping friends put up a fence gate on Saturday
Very few people have used it since eyechoirs has encountered medical issues preventing them from playing shortly after nearly finishing it, and just nobody was organizing events to use it. I thought I would throw out a time for people to use it, but we can always do it a second time as well
Sounds fun, but I work 9-5 this Saturday. :(
Edit: The redstone really is impeccable though!
