Beck: Sea Change
David Bowie: Hunky Dory
Ween: Chocolate and Cheese
Elliott Smith: Either-Or
Aesop Rock: The Impossible Kid
Alabama Shakes: Sound and ColorThese are albums I keep in rotation and invariably come back to when I’m in need of an “album experience.” I’ve got a handful more but don’t want to flood the thread. At any rate, they all fit the same lyrical and sonic bliss criteria for me as your pick.
Can’t wait to listen to Trophy Eyes!

Comment on Daily Tildes discussion - should inviter/invitee info be public? in ~tildes.official

Even if you use a moniker here that you’ve never used anywhere else, screen names your invitees pick, as well as their actions, are enough to make connecting the dots to your/mine identity.
Also, I’ll probably be over-policing people I invite here, so it’s irrelevant if my name is on their profile. It’d feel bad to know that someone you invited turned out to be a real jerk - just ask whoever the dude was who invited @hypnotoad... Jokes aside, I feel like the community-governance-with-leadership thing is what we’re gearing up for around here. I dig it.

It's the number that is suggesting there is something about the structure of this place that is encouraging them, not the threads themselves.
I see what you’re saying about looking at things under the lens of structure. That clears things up for me.
You mean the Dessert Island Beer thread, I imagine. I was thinking of lambic beers the entire time.
Yes. I had hoped to stealthily sneak out the extra s. Caught me. Red-handed.

- Desert Island Beer - I like beer and I like to try beer that other beer drinkers like. The desert island game felt like a good way to rope folks into my plot to find new beer.
- Musicians, what do you play / what do you do? - I really want to identify the musicians of tildes -who want to be identified- so we can discuss being creative or discuss the business or whatever. Posting that thread under that title seemed like a great way to start that process.
Clearly these have lots of value to me, but would these be considered low quality?

Firestone Walker 805 for me. You?
edit: just to say, oops, not dessert...desert.

It’s like the only thing left is a PIN code and a handful of passwords, most of which are reused or have only small variants from site to site. Not to confuse privacy with security but they’re both near and dear to me.

Folks are handing over everything about themselves with this sort-of corporate trust / corporate forgiveness with the mindset that people being privacy-conscious is akin to paranoia. It’s like the majority of people online lack the basic ability to think creatively about what can be revealed about them or done to them with the info they feed into the internet.
Something I’m working on with a community member is how to present online privacy in a way that engages people and provides at least a glimmer why they should care about this stuff. We won’t change the minds of most people, but I suppose it’s about creating a herd that can sway the rest of the folks.
By the way, if anyone has suggestions on strategies to awaken people, I’m all ears/eyes!

P & R - it’s silly and has heart
Scrubs - again silly with heart. My Dr. friend says it’s this show above all other ER type shows that comes closest to his work environment and relationships that form in that environment.E: can’t believe I forgot South Park! I’ve been watching since the show started. I remember that when I was in college the local cable service didn’t offer Comedy Central. There was a cool pizza joint + bar with satellite TV that ran happy hour (with great deals on pizza and beer) for the first couple of seasons. The owners were more excited about the show than most of its broke college patrons, and certainly liked sharing the experience more than profits those nights. They’d record it an play it a second time too.
Also I remembered just now that SP was the first really viral video. A friend gave me a 6th generation vhs copy of the Spirit of Christmas that he sent thru the mail. That’s how viral worked back in the days of AOL dial-up and being excited to upgrade to a 56k modem. How the fuck did I learn anything back then? Right, I guess there were libraries and owning books. I don’t know if I could go back to a world pre internet proliferation. The times have changed. Anyhow viral video, thru USPS, recorded onto VHS - you know you have something special when folks would go to all that trouble for a shitty cardboard cutout cartoon.

I hope to have more creative users here with whom to speak creatively. I like creative surroundings. It doesn’t have to be all circus and cotton candy, but allowing a color scheme and some sort of icon or logo or banner would be just enough to make groups feel unique and wouldn’t affect the perception of homogeneity in the site’s functionality.

This glorious question is why I’m gonna give this show another try. I started an episode once but I got turned off by the sci-fi channel’s television show aesthetic: overly diffuse whites, soft focus, and blown out highlights. It’s silly to get hung up on this sort of stuff, but I do sometimes.
That Joanna Newsom album does not get the love it deserves. And Pornography is such a lush landscape. Love those!
