But yeah, I get it, it is a very unique game so there are naturally a lot of potential problems to be had depending on one's preferences.

I've been playing an absolute ton of SULFUR recently, and actually beat the game for the first time, which was very gratifying. I really love the Endless Mode that comes after that, too, plus you can still play the regular stages, which I appreciate.

I don't know why more people aren't talking about SULFUR. It's an offline solo extraction shooter, with extreme gun customization and old school difficult boomer-shooter FPS gameplay. That's kind of a grail game for me, and I feel like a lot of people I talk to are looking for something similar too.

I just can't think of any other game where you can rebore your pistol to take shotgun shells, then oil it with massive +spread and +projectile count modifiers, and finally enchant it with poison, resulting in a small automatic handcannon that shoots a massive suppressing poison cloud that covers the whole screen. And then also lets you display this abomination on a variety of gun racks and pull it out for just the right occasion. It's beautiful.

In terms of board games, I got a copy of Tax the Rich while traveling, and I really enjoyed it, for more than just the premise. I think it'll need a dedicated group of devotees to trick taking games for it to really shine, since it's full of bidding, team play, turnarounds, and basically everything else that makes a classic trick taker a bit obtuse. It's nice to see a relatively old school design like this in a more approachable modern box, though.

I think my favorite mechanical flourish is how you can kick off multiple different types of revolutions, but never two at once, and that affects how your opponents can respond. Like, if you hold the cards for it, you get to decide if you're causing a class revolution to reverse all ranks in the deck, or a feminist revolution to make all the cards with women on them suddenly overpowered, and your opponents will simply have to go along with what you choose. I think that's really neat.

If there's one thing I've learned over the years, it's that any real future tech will create the most convenient outcome, because that's kinda all any consumer cares about. If it involves more effort from the user instead of less, we will straight up never have it in a meaningful way.

So, when I read a sci-fi setting like the Android Netrunner universe, I'm like, yeah, PADs, absolutely! They're just foldable phones that can fold out as wide as a TV and then stick to a wall so you can use them like a monitor. We're clearly on our way to those, it's just a matter of time, unless the species dies first. But then right next to them, I see hovercars, and let's be real, that just means there's even more congestion (we use any space more frequently as it's expanded, as has been proven with existing megahighways), even more cars, and even more difficult driving tests. There's zero benefit other than the cool factor, it'll never happen.

Grab has had this feature for a while. It's nice. I've only felt the need to click it like, once, but it's cool that it's there.

Just know that you don't owe them - what they did to raise you was a requirement of them, not a debt - and you should leave if it ever feels like you should for your mental health.

I have a set that magnetizes into a bracelet, but mostly I just keep them in my pocket and/or bag. They take up almost no space so it's easy to carry multiple sets around if I feel like it.

Ahh, I was curious why my recent sessions were truly alone instead of with your afk account ominously keeping me company in the background. I hope your life stuff goes well.

I picked it up in occupational therapy, though. My hands lost most of their strength and coordination after an accident, so I had to build that back up. It's the same thing that got me into putty/slime, lol - it's all tools my therapist gave me to train my hands back then. Plus, I've always been an anxious person, and it's nice to have something to passively focus on.

I've been playing a lot of Fear and Hunger 2: Termina recently. I'm normally not into turn based RPGs, since the whole idea of just standing around in a liminal space trading attacks seems weird and awkward to me, but this one has proved that the system works in the right context, for me.

I'm surprised it isn't done more often, but the way it uses survival horror to heighten everything is genius. Suddenly you're actually using the items in your inventory that nobody ever uses in these games, because they're the difference between life and death. Life and death feels like an important distinction for a change because saving the game is not done lightly, and you could lose hours of progress. This also means that if you end up in a bad situation but you made progress, you'll probably choose to keep your progress even if it means you now have to deal with the problems that came along with that progress, like having lost both arms and now you're reliant on magic to get by because you can't hold a weapon. In the future, if you want to avoid attacks that instantly dismember, you'll have to take care to choose your fights carefully, use special abilities, status moves, etc.

Basically, it forces you to interact with it the way I imagine devs want you to interact with turn based RPGs, but no one ever does.

The story and characters also have me hooked, especially since you can play as so many different characters with their own specialties and stories. I've beat it once, after 27 hours, felt amazing, and now I'm in my second playthrough as a different character who plays totally differently. I don't think I'll stop til I've been everyone, and even then I'll be back later, I'm sure. I really, really love this game.
