My fault. I said, "I really need the new update because I need blocks that smell like farts and blocks that produce visible farts"

New VC pitch: The fountain of farting wisdom. You ask it a question, throw one diamond in, and it tells you your answer. Scaling from "definitely not" (no fart) to "definitely yes" (maximum fart).

    https://reddit.com/r/litematica/comments/1up8uqk/important_announcement_litematica_vulnerability/

Important Announcement: Litematica vulnerability in MC 1.21+

There is a vulnerability in most recent versions of Litematica (since minecraft 1.21 and on). I know a few people here use it. You should update to the latest patched versions.

Yesterday evening (2026-07-05 around 23:00-ish GMT+3) it was brought to our attention (by the "exploiting community", namely numbers and Nightwane from Autism Inc and DupersUnited), that there is an exploit/vulnerability in certain Litematica and Servux versions.

The vulnerability allows malicious actors to send files other than just schematic files between the server and the client, and place them outside the intended directory.
The most obvious consequence of this is allowing the attacker a way to install malware on the remote end.

So basically if you have joined a malicious server (or even a trusted server but with a vulnerable Servux version, which then became infected by a malicious user) with an affected Litematica version installed then you may have been affected.

The vulnerability affects Litematica and Servux versions on MC 1.21+

I'm not 100% sure when exactly this was introduced, but based on the git commit history it looks to me like this was first introduced to Litematica version 1.21.5-0.22.2-sakura.4. The commit was made on 19th May 2025. The following full 0.22.2 release seems to have been made on 22 Jun 2025.

From there it was later backported to the following versions, according to the git history. These commits were made on 31th Dec 2025.

    • 1.21.4-0.21.6
    • 1.21.3-0.20.8
    • 1.21-0.19.60

It's also in all 1.21.6 and later Litematica versions until the just released fixed versions.

    What to do?!

Update your Litematica version immediately to the latest release from Modrinth!

And don't join any servers you don't fully trust the owners and admins of!

The Litematica versions with the fix are the following releases:

    • MC 26.2: 0.28.3
    • MC 26.1.x: 0.27.9
    • MC 1.21.11: 0.26.11
    • MC 1.21.9 - 1.21.10: 0.24.8
    • MC 1.21.6 - 1.21.8: 0.23.7
    • MC 1.21.5: 0.22.5
    • MC 1.21.4: 0.21.7
    • MC 1.21.2 - 1.21.3: 0.20.9
    • MC 1.21 - 1.21.1: 0.19.61

If you run a server that uses Servux, update Servux to the latest version.

The Servux versions with the fix are the following releases:

    • MC 26.2: 0.11.2
    • MC 26.1.x: 0.10.4
    • MC 1.21.11: 0.9.5
    • MC 1.21.9 - 1.21.10: 0.8.7
    • MC 1.21.6 - 1.21.8: 0.7.7
    • MC 1.21.5: 0.6.4
    • MC 1.21.4: 0.5.7
    • MC 1.21.2 - 1.21.3: 0.4.8
    • MC 1.21 - 1.21.1: 0.3.17

How to check if I was affected?

One way to potentially check if you were affected is to look for files anywhere on your system that contain the string .litematic in the file name somewhere other than in the actual file name extension.
An example would be a file like somevirus.litematic.jar in your mods/ directory.

Now ofc this isn't a foolproof check, if the malware manages to rename or remove itself...

Just updated to test things out. Most of my mods are compatible, though it looks like Distant Horizons isn't receiving data from the server, and nor does it work with the new Vulkan-based renderer. Though that's to be expected.

I compared Vulkan to OpenGL on Linux and saw a jump from 250 to 450 FPS (with Sodium). So that's pretty impressive. I may be able to render Tildes Town more smoothly now.

Are there any cool new features to check out? I see the menus are different. There's also new biomes, though I expect those won't be available in a pre-generated map.

For sulfur, that is renewable with a sulfur spike farm. But cinnabar is not a renewable resource, so we may need to come up with a crafting recipe to make cinnabar renewable in a balanced manner

They've previously hinted at redstone being mercury-based, and cinnabar is mercury and sulfur, so I'd reckon 2 redstone + 2 sulfur (or 2 redstone and 2 gunpowder) should give 4 cinnabar.

I guess it's time to say what @Ethinolicbob and I have in store for our base area.

We're making a golf course with the new sulphur cubes.

I spent some time over my hiatus designing a clubhouse, and I have the materials for it. We have ideas for what some of the holes will be, but we'll need to actually try things out. I want to see if we can use different blocks inside the cubes for each hole, but that will partially depend on how we design the course.

On another note, I will try get an updated version of my modpack out at some point, but I have other things going on outside of games at the moment.

mfw no web chat included :( Fun fact btw, if you look at the web chat versions 1.1.0 has an insane amount of downloads compared to other versions. Recently we finally found out that it is due to some weird russian modpack belonging to a specific server.

To get back to your modpack. I noticed you included the Voxy alpha ( @TaylorSwiftsPickles ). It is worth noting, Voxy does not work with Vulkan yet and will crash the game if you have previously set the renderer to that.

So for anyone experiencing a crash, you might want to disable Voxy, start minecraft and switch the renderer to openGL.

Some progress has been made in my Old Kingdom Egypt build, so I thought I'd finally write a brief update!

The outline of the valley temple, causeway, boat pit, pyramid temple, and pyramid have all been laid out, but most importantly, all of the underground chambers have been built!
The first is the likely tomb of Khasekemwy (Second Dynasty) built under the pyramid temple. It's a sprawling complex built half in a trench, and half tunneled into rock. A labyrinth of storage magazines and burial chambers, this structure might have had a superstructure at one point, but if it did, King Unas tore it down to build his pyramid temple. This tomb is unadorned irl, so it's mostly done, besides a few finishing touches.

The second is the burial chambers under what will become the actual pyramid. Constructed in a wide trench, by King Unas (Sixth Dynasty), the burial chambers have a gabled roof constructed of monumental blocks of limestone (Gables are hard to build in minecraft, so these chambers are merely corbelled in game). Now, I just need about 70 unique map arts to cover the walls with about 200 invisible item frames to complete it. That, and burying the whole thing under about 50,000 blocks.

So, come check out the started pyramid complex, or stop by the Nile farming village across the river! Accessible from the nether high speed rail going East!
I'll be gone for most of next week, but if you wish to leave any offerings to the king, place them in the barrels in the vestibule (first room in the chambers beneath the soon-to-be pyramid)

So I have started playing around with creating a sulfur spike farm. I have done a small automated proof of concept, and the growth rate is quite slow. The farming mechanics are quite similar to dripstone, so it should be easy to build a farm. However, the industrial district storage prefers items inputted at a small steady stream, whereas dripstone farms use flying machines, which does infrequent large deposits. So I will probably just make something similar to a large bamboo farm kind of design

Edit: I have since built the farm. It has 64 sulfur spikes, so it will output a decent amount hopefully. It is my own design so might not be the most efficient, but it was fun designing it

Edit: I expanded it to 4 total layers. I think for projects that require a lot it might be worth building a large flying machine based farm. A flying machine in the industrial district would eventually get unloaded mid-flight so not the safest location for one. Although, part of that is my farm philosophy which is have several small low impact farms in common areas to provide a small trickle of resources, then build giant high output farms that have higher performance impact in remote areas

I have since built a larger design south of town using flying machines. This has been my first time designing my own farm and it has been tons of fun. I plan on expanding it further, with at a minimum of one more module (but maybe three). Since each module of this design is 3x the size of the whole farm I built in the industrial district, it will be good for some of the larger projects.

Edit: There is no good option for transport to this farm. I have been taking a boat down the rivers from comm. storage. I do not plan on building a portal to out here, but I am thinking of putting in a southbound line for transit, which will serve the large sulfur farm as well as some other builds in the south

As I understand it, that's what those blocks are meant to represent in those biomes anyway, so terralith's 26.2 terrain generation would likely end up doing that anyway? But then again I'm not a yellowstone expert

That would be nice. I think the big farts update will suit your build style quite well, and I am interested in seeing what you build with it

I feel like I'm doing something wrong.
When I try to update the instance version in prism, it gives me:
"Error Updating instance: Null jar is specified in the metadata, aborting."

Whenever I attempt to launch the game, it fails with:
"Instance update failed because: Component metadata update task failed while downloading from remote server: One or more subtasks failed"

I feel silly that I have such trouble updating every time, a process that should be relatively simple.

I hope to be back to building pyramid chambers soon!

I always create a new instance for each version and never upgrade a instance in place.

I guess I was trying to avoid that But what of the saved schematics, screenshots, mod list, and hotkeys? Must all be manually moved/reconstructed?

I open both folders and copy configs etc. between the two.

Well, it seems like I get the same errors in every new instance as well, no matter mods/modloader... I'll try some other things later today

I had to update the prism launcher itself, which remedied the server error, however I had to wrestle with getting any/all mods to work for a while. But I'm back in! With most things intact.

Yeah, I always find upgrading an instance to be something I fumble my way through, rather than have it just be a smooth single click operation

On the vanilla launcher it is a smoother process to update, whereas for prism I find it a bit clunkier

@teaearlgraycold: Gravy just said we can apparently no longer name armour stands to create "floating labels" for some reason - neither the anvil method nor the floating method seem to produce any visible result. However, as I recall, @creesch had access to some other way to produce those kinds of "floating labels".

Seeing as @creesch is mostly offline, could we either extend that permission (which is currently OP-exclusive) to all authenticated players, or at least 1 trustworthy active player of your choice?

Both Gravy and I will need a significant amount of them in our bases

Tbh, probably due to the minecraft version and the armor stands plugin or something. I can see if there are newer versions or stuff we need to update.

Permissions are also fine of course.

I'll update it in the repo and will leave a note next to it I guess
