This will be quite a good treasure trove of data for Google to improve their image generation and description tasks! Quite an interesting idea to pitch it as an educational tool.

They had something like this as a "game" maybe 15 years ago...you get an image as a prompt, you and your partner both have to enter words that describe it, if you enter the same word you get a match. Literally they had people doing free data tagging for them. (And yes, I played it a bunch. Yes, I knew it was doing "skilled" work for free.)

This was called the ESP game, in case anyone is curious.

Reminds me of a fun subreddit project I used to do to put DALL-E 2 through its paces (before quitting on Reddit altogether)-- any time I came across an unusual photo online that looked like it could have been AI-generated, I'd come up with a plausible prompt and submit it to the gallery. Eventually another user (who also dropped Reddit 🤔) combined that collection with a bunch of actual AI images from the DALL-E sub and created a cool quiz: Can you tell the difference between r/dalle2 and r/NotDALLE2 images?

Fun exercise if you want to improve your prompt writing skills, they even give you tips on how to get it right. Can be frustrating as well, there were a few times I thought I was good but I my score was off mark by 1%. Level 5 was the first level I failed all attempts.

Warning for Firefox users, this did not work for me. I had to use Chrome, otherwise it would be stuck loading with the message: This experience is currently taking some time to load. Please wait or try again

I didn't get that message on Firefox... but I did get this message on Firefox and Chrome: So I guess it's region locked. :( I'm gonna have to check it out via my US VPN later.

Unfortunately, say what you see is not available in your country.

It's a very limited set of images, with nearly the same ones every game. They do appear to generate new images based on the prompt you submit, but that's more a subtle showcase of their tech than anything that helps them. (Besides, it's Google, they have a mind-boggling amount of training data available through search, images, YouTube, Gsuite, etc.)

Nice experiment. Hint: If you're in Germany (for example), you will need a VPN to play this.

It was cool until it wanted me to know art styles. And then proceeded to show me normal ass looking pictures.
