I finished my Red Dome! Very happy with how it turned out, am calling it a Nether Summoning Altar. Here are some screenshots, in case anyone is interested!
Feel free to stop by yourself if you want to take a closer look! Please do mind the 'gap' when entering - the drop is quite high, so not recommended for those not wearing armour or carrying totems (looking at you u/Creesch, be careful please :P!). I'll be building a stair / water lift system at some point as dropping-down-and-faceplanting is not a very elegant way to enter atm...
Oh P.S. You can get out again via the ""secret"" trapdoor directly behind the 'altar' :) it's hidden in a water stream so just closely look at the floor to find it!

So.... I managed to die again today even with a totem. Clearly have a lot to re-learn, also now the town hall is without Elytra, sorry about that :/
Edit: Turns out there is a ton of spare Elytra in the town hall I simply didn't see :D
I was gonna say - town hall had over a shulker of elytra a month or so ago.
Hello again everybody! Here's what I've been working on lately.
I built a farm for Crimson/Warped Fungus and Roots. I put it next to the afk tree farm at 830, 90 since you can then use the Fungus to grow Nether wood.
For anyone who didn't see the last thread, Talon and I built a dedicated Banner Center over by the Community Center at 670, -240. Feel free to hang up your favorite creation in the display area!
I also went ahead and added input chests at surface level for the Mining Depot so you don't have to trek down there to make a deposit. I used the spot that had been reserved by someone for that purpose at 770, -110.
And I've continued making new additions to my nature reserve. It now has 3 campsites (with a 4th to add still) and a mysterious geode has seemingly sprouted from the ground through an underground cave system. I still need to add more armor stand campers and I also want to "call in" some armor stand researchers to have a look at the geode.
A plan is also being hatched to use the nature reserve for an upcoming holiday event! Still some time before more info will be revealed, but I eggspect it will be a lot of fun!
Through me Gravy has also hacked in some impossible banners for sweet decorations to the campsites.

This made my day, lol. I built the mining depot (and reserved that above-ground spot) in the first few weeks of the server getting started. Haven’t been back on after I got burned out from two straight weeks of making map-based cat pixel art.

Hey! Incidentally I just finished a big mapart project for my museum. And I was wondering if you'd mind if I displayed a copy of your cat mapart as part of a mini-exhibit on the subject?
I happened across your museum last night while exploring and really enjoyed exploring the exhibits and reading through the story. There's some great lore there, and it was sort of unsettling to read through when I was the only one online. chef's kiss!
glad you liked it! right now some of the lore is a bit inconsistent because i'm doing renovations, rewrites and expansions, but I'm still really proud of the big main exhibit

Your cat picture is what inspired me to work on a picture of my dog Jasper! Progress has been slow, but I'm set up a bit further west of your picture if you want to see what I have so far.
Can you explain the Mining Depot a bit? Where do the items end up? I have a bunch of materials to add, but wanted to make sure I know where to get them (if I ever need 100 stacks of deepslate for example).
There is a chute down at 750, -169 that goes down to the Mining Depot where you can deposit or pick up extra generic building materials like stone, vobble, granite, etc. It's under the big mining pick in the center if town. Someone had previously reserved a spot for input chests at the surface so you don't have to go all the way down if you only want to get rid of stuff. All the items deposited are autosorted or go into the overflow chests.

This is by far the biggest project I've taken on. It's fun to see it start to take shape!
I checked your city out last night and it's amazing! Some of the best diagonal building I've ever seen, and it's all just soooo pretty.
We've now got a wither rose farm (in the End at 1317, 1601, visible on dynmap (thanks Noox)), and I immediately used it for its only real purpose - to improve the wither skull farm. The skull farm now only spawns wither skeletons and it spawns them much faster than it used to. I'm not sure if the sorting system there is going to be able to keep up.
Thanks for setting this up! I used it last night for its second purpose: a ghast farm on the nether roof. 🙂
Happy new year everyone! We've officially cleared out the Xmas decorations and excessive snow - ty to those who helped ❤️
The new years decorations are still up, so if you want to see Bendvis' fireworks contribution you still can! It's next to the Town Center Nether Portal.
I personally plan on adding some fun spring decorations - including a May Pole, Easter bunnies, lots of flowers etc. etc. i encourage anyone to contribute if they feel like it!
Lastly, the area near the Dinecafe / Skelly Spawer that's been opened up has been claimed for a new public park. I'll be working on that with u/GravySleeve, but again anyone is free to contribute if they think they have a nice idea!

I think the park is pretty much done Noox. We could add more benches between the trees, but I think there are enough around the fountain already. Maybe something else instead? Small hand-made trees with fence posts and leaves? Or maybe some small art sculptures?
Edit: Maybe throw one of these up next to each entrance?

This reminded me that I've been playing with some seasonal themed resource packs lately that are good enough to share. Not made by me, just found them in my travels online.
Default-Style Winter Pack - Nice winter theme. Adds snow to the ground, and turns lily pads to cool ice cubes (among other things).
Other packs by the same author. I was using the Christmas pack before the holiday and it was quite cool. All spruce trees have multicolor lights and iron bars become string lights. I plan to use the fall pack next year.
Also for fun I've installed Cozy Bees which puts adorable sweaters on bees.

I'm usually pretty careful with resourcepacks, as I have heavy heavy shaders - but omfg that mod author you linked has the CUTEST baby animal reskin mod!! They're so derpy 😭!

I've started on the zoo. If anybody would like to help, I put up signs on a board with all the animals I want to get and put in their own display. Feel free to grab a sign and find a spot to build the display. If you dont want to wrangle the animals, I can take care of it later (just make sure to mark the spot so I know what animal it's for)
I'm trying to keep the feel like an actual zoo. So don't bunch up too close. And think about the viewing experience when building the animal display.
Also, stay on the same side of the river that its currently on and don't build any closer to the river. I'll eventually put up an entrance to the zoo from the dock.
I've gotten areas made for the vast majority of the animals. The only ones left are ones I can't think of a good biome/area for them to be in.
If anybody wants to take a crack at some, please feel free. The zoo has been marked on the dynmap. The bulletin board of animals left to do is right by the entrance.
Just saw this thread. Let me know if I should change my ghast enclosure location, or if you'd like me to tear it down. No ghasts are inside yet, so now would be the ideal time to move it if it needs to move. :)
Edit: Actually, if the enclosure is allowed to stay, I think I might chamfer the corner closest to the pandas to improve walkability. Will get that done next time I'm online.

I did a bit of tidying up around town in front of the community center today. I built a bigger dripstone farm so I could remove the tiny one, I repurposed the space near the trading hall that used to be for manually farming spruce trees. I also moved the mooshrooms and the cows into their own pens, the mooshrooms are next to the dripstone farm and the cows are at the south end of the road from where they were. I put up a sword next to the cows so they can be cooked when killed. I updated the book in the community center with the coordinate changes.
That’s great, I love a bit of spring cleaning!
I’m realising that I haven’t been online in ages now, but I can still picture all of those little farms you mentioned and where they were near the town hall… can’t wait to see it when I log back in!
Also, the mooshrooms mixed in with the regular cows was my own doing, I had way too many mooshrooms spawning at my island and decided to share, and thought it would be funnier (if also inconvenient) to just mix them in together in a mess. Thanks for separating them out, that must have been a pain!

Just for everyone else's benefit, the Glow Squid farm is at -430, -590 and the regular Squid Farm is at -150, -770.
I've been tinkering with new mods and discovered one called Distant Horizons that caches chunks and renders them further away than the typical draw distance. I took a couple of screenshots around town. It's pretty crazy to be at the southern Guardian farm and see the giant statue staring at you in the distance.
CPU gets cooking and RAM fills up quick when caching new chunks, but the framerate hit isn't so bad.

@ThrowdoBaggins Something was broken at the Guardian farm. I'm not sure how to fix it. Its been blocked off for now. Not sure if you'd like to rejoin us on the server just to fix it or not.
Unless somebody else knows how to fix it. The problem is at the kill chamber; not sure how to prevent the guardians from coming out but still being able to kill them.
Ah, thanks for the heads up! I’ll take a look at it when I’m next on, but also I just stole the design from ianXOfour’s channel if you wanna take a look at it yourself? I know there were several blocks with various hitboxes to trap the guardians just so, like scaffolding and iron trapdoors and fences, so as long as they’re still dropping down and taking the fall damage, it should be relatively straightforward to trap them in a safe pocket to hit again!
As of 01/19/24 the Guardian Farm is in working condition. I just checked.

Something else I wanted to float out there that I just remembered. I'm not sure if it would work so I'm looking for feedback, but regarding the wither skeleton farm there is a sign that says rates could be improved. I'm wondering if perhaps replacing the iron golem with a snow golem might make that happen. The only issue I can think of would be making sure the blazes can't fire back at them, but I think that could be done with walls or fences. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
The location is two nether fortress intersections side-by-side, which provides a very large potential spawning area. Initially, I thought I could create a double-wide spawning platform with a single iron golem as bait, but mobs would spawn too far away from it to aggro. So the platform now is an oval thing that covers maybe 70% of the spawnable area we have to work with.
To use it all, we'd have to expand to two bait golems and funnel mobs into a single kill chamber or use double chambers. We could also get rid of blazes and zombified piglins more quickly by having them drop into cactus if we wanted to focus solely on skeletons.
Alternatively, we could quickly weed out the other mobs using wither roses, but that would require a wither rose farm. Not too difficult to pull off in the end.
We can also make a wither rose farm in the end and use those to allow wither skellies to spawn, but not anything else.
True, I guess we've got gold covered and it would be pretty trivial to set up a blaze rod farm close to the nether hub. I've been itching to build farms again, but haven't really known what to do. Maybe I'll work on it
I'm not great at building mob farms, but I'm happy to put in the work if you want some help.
And a dedicated blaze farm would be nice for getting some of their heads as well, they must have a pretty low drop rate cause I spent a while trying to get one and had no luck.
Apparently a base drop rate of 0.5%. With looting 3, a whoppin' 0.65%. With the looting 3, its the second worst drop rate (enderman have 0.53%)

Oh, yeah, I guess so. I didn't know that, I just knew I'd seen them used to aggro mobs before. I guess that idea is out.

You can install the "No Chat Reports" mod to get rid of the messages.
I think people are unnecessarily worried about that. But just in case we have the server configured to allow users to turn off chat reports for their own messages. Just install the No Chat Reports mod.

Seems strange to me that they couldn’t just make your account migratable indefinitely. All they need to do is keep your email on file and allow you to perform an account recovery process to bootstrap the migration process.
