This is interesting news. Remedy almost certainly doesn't have the cash to make these games even with the success of Alan Wake 2. I assume this means they know they can get a deal with Epic. I would argue AW2 is the best game on the Epic store and so I imagine Epic is hoping to repeat that success. I guess we will have to wait and see. I love seeing Remedy get control of their IP. They are easily my favourite game company and I have loved all of their games, even Quantum Break.

It's cool what they've managed to do after Quantum Break, which I think flopped? Having the rights to Remedy-verse IPs seems like a really valuable asset at the negotiation table (even if I myself would prefer them to do something else than a singular universe).

Great to have some good news amongst all the layoffs!

They do have the Condor game which is probably a new IP. So it's hard to know if it will be in the same world or not. Either way, I enjoy the call backs.

When Epic had a giveaway for Control, someone at work posted about it on Slack, so I made an epic account to add it to the library. Then it sat there for months until I finally had some downtime....

Other than Portal/Portal II, I had not played a story-based video game since Zelda on the Wii. Control was my gateway back into PC gaming, so excited to think there might be more in that vein. I still have Alan Wake and AW2 on my todo list though, so at least I have that to look forward to in the mean time.

Control might be my favorite game of the 2010s (with God of War (2018) being a close second), so I'm incredibly excited to see what they will do with the sequel(s).

That said, I'm happy they're doing that with Remedy games! I'm also sad because I've enjoyed everything Remedy does and I don't like it being trapped on EGS.

So, like "Yay! They got the IP back." but "Boo" if it's trapped on EGS like AW2. Control was begging for a sequel based off that... Can you even call it an ending it had.

I love Remedy and Alan Wake is the game that made me turn my head to them in the first place, but I am really disappointed that the sequel is an EGS exclusive. I only have a slight aversion to paying Epic for the game, but it’s all the hullabaloo associated with the launcher that I dislike. I suppose more than anything I just want something that’s easy to run on my Steam Deck.

Yeah, the Steam Deck is a big part of my buying decisions right now - if not Steam support, at least a Linux version, and I've never really gotten Heroic and Lutris to have the "Install and go" feel of just buying a game on Steam...

Even a game like Cyberpunk which I bought on GOG and is on my desktop just seems like a headache to go through the process for on the deck.
