The server operates on a soft whitelist. Anyone can log in and walk around, but you need a Tildes account to gain build access.
I didn't take a lot of screenshots this week. But I was standing in front of my little floating glass house I build a while ago enjoying the view. So I figured I'd share that view:
I just finished making an abandoned train depot in the industrial district. I think it turned out pretty well.
I also thought it would be funny if a UFO abducted creesch's cow that he left near the nether roof tower. The aliens seem like they might be from Shroomlandia. @creesch @TaylorSwiftsPickles
where were you when cow was kidnap?
i was at house eating big pig pumpkin pie with comrade Spork when phone ring
cow is kidnap
no
Forgot to mention, if you land on the ufo and climb inside, you'll find an autocrafter for wooden bowls which you can use on the mooshrooms!
I know this is tangential, but I figure the people in this topic could help.
I run a Java server for my kids, running Geyser/Floodgate. They want flight in survival mode to make building easier. It needs to be server-only, 1.21.5, and ideally supporting NeoForge. I personally would like to see a cost associated, like increasing hunger or time limited like a potion. So far I haven't been able to find anything that fits all of those needs, but I'm also new to modern Minecraft.
I'd consider going down the path of writing one myself, but I already have too many side projects and "Start writing Minecraft mods" is not a good one to add to the list.
Once the new version is out with friendly ghasts you can use them to help build floating structures.
You can do it with command blocks, and that means you can make a datapack for it.
also found a couple plugins: https://modrinth.com/plugin/custom-flight/versions
https://www.spigotmc.org/resources/gfly-simple-and-smart-fly-plugin-1-7-1-21-5.70106/
This one sounds exactly like what you want, it costs feathers to fly and you can configure how many for how much time: https://www.spigotmc.org/resources/featherfly-ffly-survival-flying-1-20-1-21-4.113243/
This is the only option I see: https://modrinth.com/plugin/noikzfly
But it’s primitive. You’ll need to warn them to not log out while flying or they’ll fall on login.
So this might be a bit wackier option, and will definitely be more setup, but perhaps something like Project Korra could be interesting. It's based on the Avatar: The Last Airbender universe, and many of the classes include enhanced mobility options. I know for sure airbenders have a limited creative-like flight. It is 100% serverside, but I don't know how well it would play with Geyser/Floodgate. I've only ever used it with a purely Java setup.
Lots of busy stuff happening IRL at the moment so probably going to be hardly on the next few weeks. Once things quiet down it will be back to finishing the deck features on the titanic build. Might try to get some AFK time at the Piglin trading spot just to help restock some things for the community storage though.
While I still have work to do in the underground parking garage to get it finished, it is finished enough that cars could be added in. If anyone wants to design cars, feel free to add them in. The space is 3x5 (the same as above ground parking). If armor stands have a performance impact, I would recommend limiting the use of them, since the area is already taking moderate performance impacts (if stands do not impact performance much, disregard this point).
I have been working on Daytowne, which is south of spawn on the river. There is a dock on the river.
I will take some screenshots on a later update. :)
I had been working in one direction, but I have decided that the town should be flat, so I have been flattening the land by the river; I rebuilt my house.
My intention is to offer plots of land - some with empty houses, some empty plots - for folks to come build a "vacation" home. The intention is to have the building styles somewhat resemble a Minecraft village - i.e. houses to that general scale, built mostly from wood/cobble/stone and looking like a relatively vanilla village in some ways.
It's not really ready for prime time, but feel free to keep an eye on it. :) I wouldn't turn down help flattening land, for those who enjoy that, but no worries, I'm working on it.
Big thank you to Gravy for completing the mall loop. I got distracted, and never actually finished it.
I blame the pyramids
Honestly, they are most to blame for my recent hiatus.
This also reminds me of another project that I need to start...

No problem at all! It was nice to take a break from all the buildings I've been making. Plus I just used litematica to copy the bends in the road you had already made, so I didn't have to figure them out myself. :D
Holy heck! I'm out walking my dog, but I noticed you mine out the whole ding-dang thing! Thanks for saving me a ton of time! (And thanks to Pickles for getting me eff. 5 and a beacon, which was the foundation on which the hole was built!)
I did a bit of terraforming south of the mall and I put up a new building. Inside you'll find a tic-tac-toe game I threw together, the redstone is flawless. :D
How psudoanonymous is the link between Tildes and the MC account? My MC account is more linked to my real identity than my Tildes one, but would prefer not to change it given most of my playtime is with people I know IRL.
You can always verify your account and then unverify it (clear your name) and continue to play normally. I don't rember the command but it exists because I did it once.
Edit: However if you mean that you don't want people on the server to see your MC username, that's not possible. Even after verifying, everyone sees your MC name "in person" and when you log in.
But you can opt out of showing your tildes name
You could change your Minecraft IGN. Although people can look up your previous names. It would be best to buy a new account.
Lol what is this, the Nintendo Switch?
Too soon
I mean, even V1 had a hefty take there.
I have completed a staircase to the mall basement in the loading docks. Overall, the mall basement is nearly finished, with the only major task left is to make the elevators from the parking garage to the food court.
I have gotten one elevator working. I still need to clean up the redstone a bit (thinking I will use calibrated shulk sensors to get more creative in button placement). It is working where you can call the elevator if it is on the wrong floor. I also need to figure out how I am going to rebuild the exterior, since the elevator sticks out further than where the original wall was.
Ooh! I was just trying to think of a new project for myself last night! Time to work on building some cars perhaps....
You could also add some cars in the parking spots above, although I was considering changing the concrete in the parking lot to light grey to have the parking area be all cohesive
Does anyone have experience building redstone feed tapes, specifically in fairly tight spaces? I'd like to cycle through different colored glass to cycle through different beacon colors, but redstone timing is not my forté. Any help/ tips would be welcome!
I've never built one, but I've seen a few in some builds on YouTube. I'm sure I can help sometime we're both on.
I looked them up on YouTube just to refresh my memory, and they're even easier than I remembered. Here's a link, or I can still help if you prefer!
