The server operates on a soft whitelist. Anyone can log in and walk around, but you need a Tildes account to gain build access.
Hey all! Sorry I haven't been on much lately, I've had a lot going on with my dog having medical issues. I likely won't be on much for a couple more weeks probably.
More Info / GoFundMe
My dog Jasper had to go into the ER vet on Saturday night. He has had a UTI for the last couple of weeks, and the antibiotics weren't working. On Saturday he stopped peeing entirely. He almost certainly has Benine Prostatic Hyperplasia (still awaiting test confirmation) . Basically, his hormones are causing his prostate to expand to the point he can't pee, and a lot of stones have also built up in his bladder. The doctor performed surgery last night to open up a new peehole for him because two days of flushing him out with a catheter didn't help. I hate asking for charity, but I've set up a gofundme to help cover his medical costs. If anyone wants to help, donations are greatly appreciated, and if you can't donate, sharing the link is also very helpful!
Edit: Turns out the doctor decided not to open up the second peehole, they had decent success opening up his bladder and clearing it out. He still has to stay for monitoring a couple more days.
https://gofund.me/f26f4c40
Edit: Going to bring Jasper back home now!! 🥹
Edit: Might have to bring Jasper back in, he's not peeing again. :(
Edit: False alarm? I hope. He was able to pee again, but he doesn't seem to want to drink.
Edit: Should've updated this sooner. Jasper has been home a few days and is doing much better!
I see Corgi. I donate.
Thanks again so much tea!
Thanks for giving us an update on what is going on with you. Sorry to hear the dog issues. Take the time you need, don't feel any pressure to play on the server.
Jasper still isn't able to come home today, but the doctor seems certain all he needs is more time for his bladder to flush out to get his pee clear again. They don't want to release him too early because he'd have to come right back in again if he gets blocked back up. I'll have another update in 7hrs, hopefully with news on when he can come back home.
Edit: Jasper coming home tonight! Going to pick him up now.
Edit: Jasper not peeing again this morning. Might have to bring him back in. :(
Edit: False alarm? I hope. He was able to pee again, but he doesn't seem to want to drink.
Edit: Should've updated this sooner. Jasper has been home a few days and is doing much better!
I tried to abuse the "Exemplary" label a bit here to get your comment at the top, but I misunderstood how it worked. Now I know..
In any case, thanks for sharing the context and link. Pet emergencies can be extremely emotionally draining. Remember to take care of yourself, too, and please do keep us updated.
Just a quick plug for my server - making sure folks see.
So that said: https://tildes.net/~games/1ni4/daychildes_minecraft_survival
Decided to make use of my collection of mob heads and created a "Museum of Severed Heads" in my old house at 132, 89. Come check it out! We are accepting donations. Simply place a severed head above a sign and think of a clever (or not so clever) pun or joke name/title for the head!
There are like 80 of my heads in community storage if you need 'em, lol
I have made some fine additions to your collection
I love 'em all! Thank you!
I still don't know how I ended up with one of yours but you get a great view of Titanic from the little water house!
Oh, that was just me sneaking around and leaving copies of my head on people's bases to confuse them.
Anyway, I've got cat ears now...
We are planning to make a (mob) head exhibit at the museum; @creesch has donated some already. We could combine efforts if we wanted to make a comprehensive collection! I have been busy with teaching, so I've been very absent 😅 so, something I'll hopefully get back to working on in a few weeks
We can consider mine to be the traveling exhibit building up hype for the real thing :D
Ok! Sounds good :)
I have a bunch of extra mob heads in shulkers at the mall I can donate from when I have time to play again.
Thanks! Yes, no rush. I too have been swamped the past few months, have had zero time for much of anything
If anyone would like the wandering trader llama head in Daytowne North, grab it next to my house from the fence. :)
I'll try to remember to check to see if it would be useful (i.e. not there already) when I'm in next.
I need help coming up with commands to create an entryway for The Temple of the Origin. I want to have an entrance hall with signs to mirror Genesis, e.g.:
"And The Creator said '/setbrightness 5,' and there was light."
I've realized, though, I know vanishing little about minecraft commands, and even less about setting up a server. What important commands might fit well in a "creation myth?"
I've never used command blocks before, but I'm fairly certain there's a command to change the weather, you could call in a storm perhaps? I think it's also possible to summon mobs with them?
Edit: I also just noticed you're building a temple out in the badlands near my volcano map art. If you want I can tear that down so it doesn't affect the view from there.
If you want to get fancy, there is a set order for the commands in the Genesis narrative. The first half of commands are about creating the world, and then the second half is about filling the world.
"and God separated the light from the darkness" could be interpreted as
/gamerule doDaylightCycle true
This is exactly what I'm looking for! Thanks for this.
/gamerule randomTickSpeed 3
This is fun! :D
"Then God said,
/gamerule doInsomnia false
. And God saw that it was good."/gamerule doMobSpawning true
I thought there was some verse about how the plants and animals are to provide food and materials for people, but reading through it I don't see anything so direct. You could throw in
/gamerule doMobDrops true
and/gamerule doTileDrops true
with some holy flair./publish false survival 25565
This isn't how a server like Tildes actually operates, but it's the closest thing in a command.
Could add some flair to the "creating the heavens and the earth" with commands like
/fill
and/fillbiome
and/worldborder
and/setworldspawn
.I'll echo the "Sorry I've been away!" sentiment that seems to be the theme this
weekmonth.I'm currently working full time and also working on a master's degree - it's a lot of time, but up till last month it's been manageable. Last month has been a lot and I haven't found time to play much of anything. I did steal a few hours over the weekend to fiddle with the enderpearl stasis network, but I worry I should've spent that time on my term project. Presentations are next week and I don't feel prepared.
Finals are the week after, and then I expect I'll have time to really dig in on the server again mid-May.
A brief update on the stasis network.
I've started to plan out how I'll actually build this thing in survival: what the material cost will be and how practical it is to fit in the footprint. I also did some tests to see what the lag overhead is:
/tick warp
shows the time spent on each tick. On my computer, each 9-bit receiver takes about a millisecond each tick. That doesn't seem too bad, but since I'm planning to build several of these and I don't know what the performance on Tildes server will be, I'd really prefer to reduce that. There isn't really an "off" switch on this thing, so I want to make sure it's as low-overhead as I can.In the prior version, all waypoints operate on the same channel, and each message is 9 bits: 1 is a lock signal, 3 identify the waypoint, and the other 5 identify the player.
The lock bit can be avoided by reducing the capacity of the stasis network by 1 player (31 instead of 32). I think that's a fine compromise, so I'll do it and reduce the bit count to 8.
I spent the few hours over the weekend learning to build a channel selector. The receivers aren't much different, but the transmitters are then much more complicated. I haven't quite finished designing a suitable transmitter, but the bones are there. (My selector panel outputs signal strength, but the channel selector needs binary data). So I'll run each waypoint on a separate channel, moving the address out-of-band and cutting the bit count down to 5.
That reduces the per-tick overhead by about half, about 0.6ms per tick per waypoint on my computer. I hope it would be cheap on Tildes server too.
Aside: Redstone Multimeter is truly an epic utility. It's a sort of oscilloscope that lets you monitor the timings and sub-tick ordering of different events like redstone signals and block updates. I have to run my server with Fabric if I want to use it, but I can test parts of it on Paper to make sure things ought to work on Tildes server.

Hey all! I was AFK in the hoglin farm overnight, and I have just added 2.33 shulker boxes worth of leather to the community storage, for all your armour stand sculpture needs :)
I decided to figure out the rough size of my home, since it is quite expansive both above and underground so it is hard to figure out scale. Here is a screenshot that demonstrates the rough size. It is worth noting that some of it is multiple levels, while other areas are just single areas (or the thin offshoot in the northeast corner which is a thin path that will soon bring you to a new addition I am planning).
Rumour has it, if you squint hard enough, you can even see Saddam Hussein's hiding place
Been in the process of moving so still on a bit of a hiatus. Hoping to be back sometime in the next month!
Darn it... I was hoping to visit the mall, but I couldn't manage to park my personal vehicle in the parking...
The HOA has an opinion about parking vehicles like that, you should pay our office a visit
Exsqueeeeeze me. I showed up during your business hours and nobody replied to me.
Sorry, my personal tea break is between 8:00AM and 8:15AM.
What time is your impersonal tea break?
Outside of my working hours, obviously.
I didn't realize you needed a break. If you need more time away from me you just have to ask.
By law I have a right to a 15 minute break during every shift. It's nothing personal of course.
I knew I shouldn't have outsourced labor to a country with labor protections.
[x] Doubt
look at the in-game clock
Stop trying to ruin my silly joke <3
@creesch looks like a trader llama spat on your map wall behind the announcement board and ruined a lot of the maps. Any chance you can revert this the easy way?
Dunno, maybe?
I just updated the map room in my home, so if you need to make new maps, feel free to duplicate mine if that makes it easier
So I finished the mall basement now. I may do some small little touches in the coming days, but overall quite pleased with how it is. The elevators turned out quite well and were a fun opportunity for me to play with flying machines.
Sadly, as I was adjusting part of the ceiling, I broke Xultar @GravySleeve. I did not have time tonight to troubleshoot it, but hoping to have time tomorrow for that.Xultar is fixed now!I was able to hop on for like 5 minutes last night and saw the mall exterior for the elevators, looks good. I'll take care of Xultar when I can if you can't figure it out, I've got too much going on to worry about it right now unfortunately.
Yesterday I was able to finish up the road corners, so it does look finished now. Overall the elevators were a fun project because I felt the need to make it polished and robust since it is in a public build, and also I got to play around with new to me redstone mechanics (calibrated sensors and flying machines).
I was able to do some testing on it this morning and found two issues:
The button seems to not be properly turning on the system. It toggles the noise, but not the movement. Adding in a button to the line that starts the system gets the system to do the animations. It seems to only provide the "yes" answers, when doing the override to provide animations mentioned above. If the "no" is selected, it briefly shows "no" then "yes". If the "yes" is selected it only shows "yes".Hmm, well that is very weird. I might be able to take a quick look tonight, but I'm not sure why that would be happening.
I have solved the first issue.
Need to figure out the second.Second is now solved too. Xultar appears to be fully working againCould be an issue with one of the repeaters? There is a repeater that's supposed to lock one of the lines when the other is active.
That was the second issue, I did edit my original comment once I figured it out, but unsure if I edited it before you commented
Nice! I'm honestly a little impressed with myself for troubleshooting that from memory. 😁

This is north of Tildestown looking south-ish at it from the other side of the river.
I'm building a house on the outskirts of Tildestown on a small area that appeared to be unclaimed. I've built up the dirt to give myself a bit of room. (site: https://ieh.im/s/msedge_u60wevUhFE.jpg)
I'm working on another town area. I'll make larger plots and not fully flatten the land. Probably 30x30 lots, give or take.
I've also built a road connecting to..... I forget the name of that station. So this opens up a bit of land with easy road access. The road is primitive and I plan to make it better. Just wanted to get it laid down.
To me, laying down road that's relatively easy to follow helps open up areas for more building. :)
If folks would like to see more roads in various areas, poke me. :)
Also, thanks to a real pickle saving me from being in a real pickle by posting to the wrong thread. ;-)
I like the new pathway from community farms area north of the mountain and connects with Cathedral Hall Station. With @Bront's addition of a path from the base of the diorite bridge to Cathedral Hall Station, there is a nice loop. I am biased on wanting more people to develop that area since it is around my home, but also I think just how town has developed it is plausible that nobody builds along that road.
Tea, I noticed you finished the decoration for the TildeTown West Station stop on the cyan line. It looks really nice
Thanks!
