I played 10 minutes of the demo a couple weeks ago, but dropped it midway through because it was evident that the game was delivering on everything I wanted from it.

I'm happy the game is finally out, seems to be reviewing well, and that I have some time off coming up to play it :D

Oh my, just played the demo for about an hour, and what a joy it is to play! So smooth and fun. I'll probably wait to pick it up eventually on the Switch 2, as it seems more like a living room game, but I'm looking forward to learning more tricks on it then. The writing is super silly and engaging, the music is excellent, and the graphics are intense and lovely. I love that unique little gems like this exist.

I love when you start a demo and immediately get hit with the need not to spoil yourself. It's fun to have a game with tangible excitement you're waiting to play.

I've only played a bit past of what they had in the demo, but man does this game rule. I already loved Blood Cultures and skateboarding games, so their music in this is just a match made in heaven. Vibes are immaculate. I'm starting to get comfortable with the skating and I can say it's not just a fun artsy experience: it's a real good handling skateboarding game too. I love how you get the little still photo overlay when you trick over the manholes and such. Runs super well on the steam deck, but I've also been pumping up the volume on my home theater for this.

This is such a stupidly good year to be enjoying new video games.

So what is this game about? Looks cool and everyone seems pretty positive on it but is it a Tony Hawk with a story or a walking simulator with some skateboarding?

Sort of a Tony Hawk-style game with a more limited moveset, different goals, and a mix of combat and vibes.

A Skateboarding Demon’s Grinding, Gratifying Quest Both I guess? It's a very linear game, where skating lets you battle bosses to accomplish your accomplish your goal. The appeal for me is mainly...

He [Sam Eng, the developer] wanted the feel of Dark Souls — in which failure and perseverance are central themes — blended with the accessibility of the Tony Hawk franchise, along with the free-form grace of Journey, in which the player sails through a mystical and expansive desert from one mysterious wonder to the next. The unbridled freedom in Journey was something he particularly wanted to duplicate.

      Both I guess?

The appeal for me is mainly the style, the tone (self serious, with some philosophy and humor thrown in), and the fact that it just feels good to play.
