My overwhelming reaction to seeing all these sleek previews on one page is that the NES era must look like the freaking Stone Age of gaming to a kid growing up with this stuff now!
Schedule I is a blast and well worth the price tag It’s a nice mix of automation game, management, drug dealing, car driving, chemistry, botany, gambling etc

Drug Wars on the TI-83+ was the highlight of High School math. We modded and had a multiplayer variant on the +. I forget the exact details, but it involved the IO cable.

Did it all begin with Gang Wars? Plus, do you remember how the file transfer worked for the TI83? Was it device to device? If so, with what kind of cable?

It was device to device, here's the cable Here's the programming guide, page 16-16. Basically you could put one calculator in send mode and the other in recieve mode to exchange variables.
Wow, just a copper cable huh. I've always been curious how ringed plugs like this can be used for applications outside of just sending analog stereo sound.

Remember that USB-A only has 4 wires: Ground/Data Out/Data In/Voltage. You could totally do USB via a headset jack connector. Which ironically would have solved more than half the engineering...

How are you all seeing the list? For me it is broken. I even looked for archives of the webpage and the only snapshots I see it was broken then too. This is what I see:

I didn't realized so many people still played L4D2. It's kinda heartwarming. tModLoader being so high in most played as a Mod is also awesome. I love indie games that embrace mods still thriving....

It's actually interesting just how many of the most-played games are relatively old. I guess we are past that point of diminishing returns when it comes to how much games change. A 1995 game was a lot more different from a 2005 game than a 2015 vs 2025 game.
I somehow totally missed that Borderlands 4 came out. I saw there was chatter about it, but for some reason I thought that was just about a release trailer.
I only have a few of the top new releases, and the only one I've actually played so far is Oblivion. A few are on my wishlist, the one I'm most tempted by is Digimon Time Story, but I played the previous incarnation on Switch and found it worked well there. Something about Digimon feels anti-PC to me, not sure why.
A few games I would have loved a few years back: Outer Worlds 2, Borderlands 4, Bloodlines 2, Avowed (which I already have but haven't played yet). But with my recent habits, I'm not sure I have the attention span for them.
Old games, yes, very surprised! On their Most Played list: Counter Strike 2 - 2012 Dota 2 -2013 pubg battlegrounds - 2017 Arc Raiders - 2025 Apex legends - 2020

That's pretty great. I own literally zero of these games, somehow. Usually, most years before this, I've owned at least a few, but this year is it's a total goose egg. I guess that's because I've barely touched my gaming rig this year. It consumes a lot of power, and I used to keep it powered on and on standby, but it's an older rig with around an 850W power supply that consumes so much electricity that over the spring and summer I flipped it off to keep our bills down (and it immediately dropped my bill by about $25-$30, which for me is around 1/5th of my average monthly billing) and haven't really found myself missing it all that much (at all, really.) I briefly powered it on a month or two ago and diddled around, then shut it down and haven't touched it since. I'll stick to playing some stuff on my Xbox and the rest on my Mac or iPhone.

I thought the 'XYZ Simulator' trend was already outta hand a while ago, but drug dealer simulator takes the cake.

Culture really is cyclical!

Very cool. Thanks for the insight.

Well for me it worked until I tried it again just now. Likely something on their end.
Same for me, it was broken yesterday and still no change today.
Was broken 15 min ago, fine now

Make sure you check out the "top sellers" list, not just the "new releases". I thought the same too until I started poking around.
Ah, so I do own many of them! I was line “I am behind the times” but not really sad about it, if I’m honest.
