The server operates on a soft whitelist. Anyone can log in and walk around, but you need a Tildes account to gain build access.
We recommend you install our mod web-chat so that you can chat while in your web browser. It turns the server into an old-school chat room.
Nothing much on my end, honestly. I guess the only real news are that Poland finally no longer looks like an ugly floating moss platform when viewed from @Evie's base or @GravySleeve's base, as it now has a proper coastline around it. Or, well, except for where my starter base used to be, as I'll soon build a sea port there.
I've placed over 300k moss. I'm sick of moss.
Reposting my comment from yesterday into the new thread:
I've been hard at work building out The Horizon Engine, but I still have a very long way to go. Just did some work with Gimp to try planning out my future builds a little better (things got a bit complicated cause I didn't preplan). I need to build about 10 more buildings it seems.
Moments before disaster
I would love to hear the story
Damn kids on my lawn.
So. many. neat. places. to. sit. on. the. server.
If only there was a lightweight plugin that would allow us to enjoy these comfy seats.
@teaearlgraycold, pretty please?
Edit: Apologies if you happen to have a sitting spot at your base that I didn't feature. Feel free to drop a comment with pictures and/or location! Perhaps I should create a catalog of all the places I find. 🤔

You missed the sitting room in my suite, above comm. storage. I have my office, which I used a minecart, but there is a sitting room in my suite with couches. Also, come to think of it there are also benches in the transit hub below comm. storage as well as benches at the transit station in Tildes Town that @TaylorSwiftsPickles decorated
And there's some minecart seating in my speakeasy, under the cherry tree in town. Plus unsittable barstools.
New thread, new update post!
I found a page that lists all the shaders that are currently compatible with Voxy, and tinkered with them a bit. I decided to switch from BSL to Photon at least until Complementary updates with Voxy support (should be later this month according to the devs). Here are some screenshots I took with the new shaders:

This week I decided to expand the infrastructure of the City of Pitch. I built a series of tunnels under the city and gave them some atmosphere (image). Then I built a generator room and used some mob heads and redstone to give it some life. Apparently Elder Guardian heads on a fast clock make pretty good machine droning noises.
Just today, I also built an autojukebox to play some jazzy tunes in town square. We didn't have the disc I needed in storage, so I built a farm.
Oh, and I also made some greeter robots for my starter base portal. :)
Edit: Link to my previous update
DH was messing up so I also switched to Voxy and it runs great.
I'd love to see us add a Voxy server side mod to stream data if one exists.
There is no such mod. I have done it manually once with the server data for pickles but that becomes a gigantic file to host somewhere and also becomes outdated over time.
It looks like one just got developed recently. I have not tried this so have no idea how it performs.
Edit: There is also this one, which some people on the voxy github have suggested is working (though there is some discussion about AI generation so maybe proceed with caution)
Second edit: It's also been suggested that the plugin I linked in my edit streams full chunk data instead of LoD data, which may be very taxing for our server. I'm re-reading the text description of the first one I linked and it also mentions streaming chunk data. I think some testing is required before we jump to adding any of these.
Sending full chunk data probably is too much for other reasons as well. It sounds to me that it would potentially allow people to download a copy of the server world. Which for a survival server doesn't seem right to me.
The first one you linked also doesn't seem to have its source linked anywhere. Even though it claims a MIT license. Unless I am mistaken of course.
Yeah, I was initially excited, but became more skeptical the more I read. I definitely think we should hold out for a plugin that sends only the LoD data.
Edit: It's a bit of a bummer to be sure, but I also kind of like that I have an incentive to "fill out my map" by flying around. I have found quite a few interesting things on my surveying trips. :)
I looked into it earlier this week, and there's no good solution for streaming LOD data right now. There's a few workarounds, but nothing official or performant enough for a server of this size. We'll probably need to stick to Distant Horizons for the time being.
I "beautified" the little tunnel connecting the main high-speed line into the Community Storage station. Got started a bit with the tunnel for the Spruce Forest & Floating Island line by adding froglights for the portion between the Community Storage and underground TildeTown station. It'd be cool to improve the beauty of the whole tunnel but I'm a bit of a lazy bastard so I might leave things as is for now.
I somehow missed this comment, but I did notice the decor and thought it looks really nice. If you do decorate other tunnels, I will caution you that it is time consuming and can cause burnout. If you do decorate more tunnels, keeping it simple is recommended.
Yeah I learned that real quick with just the tiny tunnel I worked on so I'll work on the other tunnel in phases. I don't even have an idea on what the design would be so Ill take some time to think before moving on.
Another factor I did not mention is to make sure the materials used for the tunnel is easy to gather. We have a variety of farms that make most items easy to obtain, so it is not too limiting.
Yep! I'm mainly just sticking with processed rock blocks like Tuff, andesite, deepslate etc. since we have those in abundance in the community storage. I remember trying to gather enough copper for the high-speed line bridge which wasn't a hassle but wasn't super easy either haha.
Tearing up Trial Chambers makes getting large amounts of copper blocks easy as well....luckily for me. Gonna have to destroy another one soon.
I was very ill-equiped at the time I needed copper so I would've not survived a trial chamber haha but I'm aware of them now
@teaearlgreycold thanks to @PunchTunnel the source of the glitching behaviour of items in water streams have been found.
Github issue describing it
The solution is to modify /infrastructure/apps/minecraft/spigot.yml
Line 108 to the following:
misc: -1
This will revert it to the default vanilla behaviour. This might cause some slight performance decrease though
Edit: After some in game testing, I have realized that standing close to the water streams prevents it from stuttering, which further confirms the theory that the stuttering is caused by player distance
Changed and should apply after reset.
Seems to have fixed it. I ran 10 shulkers of moss through the system (moss was kind of the worst offender for overflowing) and 11 blocks made it to the overflow. That is a 0.07% of items slipping past the filter in a stress test, whereas before the change we were probably having closer to 25% slipping past the filter (I never measured the rate before). Thank you for making the change. As long as we don't have any serverside performance issues after this change, I think it is solved
Edit: Since so little items are making it past, I implemented a loopback system where the items stored in bulk storage get filtered out using one sorter from the multi-item sorters and it gets put back into the start of the system to be run through again. I set this up a while back but did not enable it since so much was making it past that I was concerned it would run too high of a risk to be active during server restarts
#BlamePickles
More so due to the placement of it, being at the end of the water stream, giving it the most time to cause problems
@Mendanbar I have added your datapack
Sweet! @PunchTunnel, I duped some dragon heads and put them in the mob head box in community storage. That should get you started. :)
Edit: Link to the recipes from the previous thread
Fantastic! Thank you both for sorting this out. It feels good to not have to risk wrecking stuff simply for bottles of breath.
Logged on to do a little work on my basement and library in town, finally got to check out the new rail station under storage. It's gorgeous and very familiar to use, reminds me strongly of the DC Metro (which is a compliment).
Glad to hear it was familiar to use. It helps that I have had user feedback from other players. I find myself this season trying to balance something that looks cool and is interesting for me to build with the utility of the build, and leaning more towards the looking cool department.
As I've mentioned in other posts, I've spent a bit of time connecting the Emerald Empire to Hamster's rail line and making it look a bit nicer. It's a rail tunnel, so isn't all that fancy, but I have made the walls sandstone in keeping with our theme. I've made the leaves on the roof a bit more sparse here, even though there's still a lot. In the next section are some note blocks that you can right click to switch tracks. The water slows the minecart down enough to give you enough time to click and for the track to switch. That then takes you up the much more lush tunnel (that also has the blue carpet roof) that terminates at a small station platform.
Added a robotics factory to my city over the past couple days. New progress pics!
server down? Blue map also seems to be down for me
Edit: It appears to be back up
@Lazerdye I have completed the section of rail that runs north/south from your base to the flower farm, but it currently ends a couple hundred blocks east of your base across the river. Before I build a bridge to cross it, I wanted to get your opinion on placement. Are you wanting to have the junction in your base where the rail line currently ends?
I have added in the junction, placing it where your rail was currently ending and built a bridge to cross the river. Lazer, feel free to modify the bridge or any of the other infrastructure around your base as you see fit. Once I add a proper stop in the flower district, that will be yet another place accessible by rail
I think the AFK guardian farm is kind of broken. I'd been afk there for almost 20 hours now and it produced more or less no shards even though guardians are spawning and items are flowing...
Maybe the sorter is broken or something like that.
I know previously with the guardian xp farm we had the hopper clock in the nether freeze. Maybe a similar issue has ocurred?
As far as I can tell there is no nether portal. They spawn on a small platform and are pushed upwards by a water stream that has scaffolding on all sides, & then they get killed with campfires.
Did some rail expansion the past few days. Screenshot showing the line. The yellow portion is built by @LazerDye, stopping at their base, with planned extension to go to Poland. The pink section is what I have built, and services the flower farm and a stop within render distance of @Herven's base and also the xp guardian farm. Not sure where to expand it to from here, since there is nothing else in the area
