How about you make a general topic for Very specific but spoiler free help with games? (Maybe it could be added to the ~games sidebar in some way or the wiki)

You mean like the Minecraft and game sale topics that got posted occasionally? Is there a community process to go through or anyone can just start a thing if they feel like it?

(Beginning: 00-06)
Spoilers for those who have completed these
1. The Lake
Spoilers for those who have completed these
2. Solitary Island
Etc
Then folks can ask for specific puzzles underneath
We could even do a let's play one area per week, if you want :)
I'll re-attach here... I meant like there can be just 1 topic, that gets necroed whenever someone needs very specific but otherwise spoiler free help to advance. So everytime someone needs help...

I meant like there can be just 1 topic, that gets necroed whenever someone needs very specific but otherwise spoiler free help to advance.
So everytime someone needs help they post a top-level reply describing their situation (game, platform, controls, etc) and what help they want.
But please ignore my idea as much as you want and go with yours!
Ah I see what you mean, for now I'm also going through past threads to see how others have done it and get inspiration, the more input the better so do share your ideas (including anyone else...

Baba Is Hint is probably what you want: there are different levels of hint per level, each hidden from plain view so you can't spoil yourself too easily.

Got into Baba is You earlier in the year and its kinda crazy how quickly the game goes from simple and easy to being simple on the surface but quite difficult, its a really fun game.

It's hard to put my finger on, but I guess you can just feel walled very hard. Order has this too (sokobans always do, even if we've gotten better about it), but Baba's nature means you either get it or you don't. Very binary on some levels while you stare at the screen trying to figure out what assumption is wrong or, rarely but much worse, the exact sequence of moves to line everything up (a sokoban classic that baba does mostly avoid).
Of course we've got tons of QoL stuff so you can test these assumptions and move things around, but too often I felt like I eventually would brute force combination and then find the "ah i see what assumption was wrong", but not really because I figured anything out so much as "hmm...i guess i haven't tried that"

That's where I got stuck too. I looked up the solution in the end, and it used a mind-bending technique that hadn't been previously introduced. I would never have thought to try it. I'm pretty sure after that is where I thought, welp, the rest of the game is going to be me not understanding what to do, and just looking up the solution, so I stopped playing it. The game is good, but it needed to have a more gradual difficulty curve, with more clues as to what is possible. There was another one earlier on where, having looked up what to do, and actually doing it, I was still confused as to how it worked - as in, I pressed the buttons to move Baba and a brick as described in the "solution recipe", but they moved in a way that was counterintuitive yet solved the puzzle.
I mean I get it, the whole concept of the game is to try and think outside the box for solutions. And it is fun when you discover one of those un-intuitive reactions but it also means when you hit...

Just as a fun aside, I made a short clone of Baba is You, for Christmas 2021. The levels that I didn't design are pretty good! https://qplanner.co.uk/tmp/rex/advent/content/dinoisyou.html (It has...
There are many ways to make a hard puzzle, the article explains how 'Baba is you' implemented them in its levels.
This is such a fun game, highly recommend if anyone hasn’t tried it. I’ve sunk many, many hours into this.
It sure is, but it's so hard! I think I'm still stuck somewhere at the normal levels last time I visited the game. Wish there's a way to search or ask for little hints without accidentally being hit with solution spoilers
I mean, you could try asking here; Tiderinos are a helpful bunch, and there's probably someone good at giving the type of hint you want.
Would it be too spammy? I imagine having to make such request quite often lol

Cool! Thanks for letting me know, if anyone can just do it then I'd like to give it some thoughts and try myself.

Baba is hint is a pretty spoiler free hint guide with more revealing hints if the first one does not help

I got to the first ending but there's probably more to it. I'm going to start a fresh playthrough again.
