I feel like it is worth keeping in mind that slower-paced interactions don't translate well to short trailers that will capture the attention of potential customers. It's possible that the game does allow non-violent solutions, but we just haven't seen them because they don't fit the marketing departments master plan. I will withhold judgement until I see what some of the more trusted reviewers have to say about this. And I agree that it would be a wasted opportunity if the game was only about shooting virtual people.
On one hand, AAA budgets let these crazy detailed, beautiful worlds really come alive in a way that is only possible with scores of artists and 10s to hundreds of millions of dollars. On the other...
On one hand, AAA budgets let these crazy detailed, beautiful worlds really come alive in a way that is only possible with scores of artists and 10s to hundreds of millions of dollars. On the other hand, it basically forces them to chase mass market appeal to be profitable -- and there is nothing more mass market than endless gunplay.

I've played that game since just before the 2020 version in the early 90's plus some of the spinoffs (Like Cybergen). When they mention some core characters from that game in the trailer I had to do a little "yay!"
Watching this is cool because its sort of what we played as kids, some chunks seems removed from the world. (not to mention the sensations as if one of the megacorps from the game is the one releasing it)
So might buy it, might not. It can only disappoint at this point.
Had to stop at about 3:30 cuz it definitely seemed to start getting into spoiler territory. Also added a topic tag so others know to be wary. I am so f'n hyped for this game though. :P

The only news that made me slightly depressed was hearing about the 100hr/week crunch. It didn't make me less hyped for the game, but it was definitely disappointing to hear, especially given...

You did so correctly. I haven't been paying attention to the videos because I saw the original trailer, I know I'm going to buy it as soon as it goes on sale, and there are story spoilers in this trailer. I'm sure the game will have hundreds of hours of gameplay beyond what they spoiled, but I don't need to know the entire plot to be sold on a game.
I considered stopping, but also considered that this trailer is made by CDPR so if they don't consider these points major spoilers, I'll trust them on that point since it's their story.

The canonical illustration of this concept.

One of the very few games that every time something new gets shown, it gets me more hyped instead of the normal alternative.

Here's the latest Night City Wire, which contains a bunch of other videos released earlier today plus the trailer at the end.
