I hope I'm wrong about this movie but it's hard for me to imagine it not being a bloated, joyless mess. Also, isn't Harrison Ford like, 80 years old at this point?

Logan is considered one of the best comic book movies ever. It’s pretty good. I also really like Ford vs Ferrari and Walk the Line. Mangold is the best studio director working today imo

That seems optimistic to me. I'd at least heard of the crystal skulls, "the dial of destiny" sounds like someone wanted to spice up their game of twister.

5 minutes passes....
TIL that they are actually "real" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crystal_skull but also they're made up, in that they are not actually South American artifacts but 19th century fabrications purported to be from Aztec or Mayan culture.
The crystal skulls have been a favorite subject for conspiracy theorists and New Age practitioners for a looooong time now. And TBH, I'm actually more surprised when someone hasn't heard of them...

E.g. Dan Aykroyd's Crystal Head vodka bottle design was inspired by them, since he's bit of a alien/paranormal conspiracy nut himself. I even bought a bottle when it first came out because I wanted one for display, and I know several other people who don't even drink vodka that bought a bottle for the same reason as well. :P

James Mangold is a pretty good filmmaker.
Hopefully he'll be able to make something good of it. I haven't seen many of his movies other than 3:10 to Yuma, which I did think was fantastic.

Well, let's be honest, I'm still going to watch it because it's not going to be as bad as the last one.

Well, it's punchier at least. And it makes some sense.
I was ready to groan about it, but that trailer has me hyped! Also, excited for the Pheobe Waller Bridge addition!
Same. I thought, "This looks fun!"
