Jesus, Kevin Hart as Roland. It's like they're aiming for so-bad-it's-good, but they'll probably land in mediocre and forgettable territory. Well, here's to continuing a proud tradition of cringe.

BL1 had a sort of dark humour to it, whilst BL2 went zanier and often veered into "lol so random" territory that grated. I haven't played BL3 yet out of worry... I seem to remember they at least...

I seem to remember they at least pulled Tina back a bit for the fantasy DLC, and that had me optimistic, but then...BL3 happened.
Not only did they cast Kevin Heart as Roland, they cut Brick and Mordecai from the movie entirely. I don't know how you make that movie without two major characters.

This sounds brutal. As a lover of the Borderlands universe since the first one, I'll be honest I didn't even know the movie finished shooting. I can't even imagine a story for the universe being...
Now we’re getting word that original screenwriter Mazin has officially removed his name from the project, he’ll go under the pseudonym Joe Crombie.

Directors have done it when the producers fuck things up, but I can't think of any other instances of a writer pulling their name so I'm betting it's far more rare.

If this movie somehow trips and falls into being good I'll be shocked, especially with the development hell. The only saving grace seems to be a very solid cast (for the most part, Cough Kevin Hart Cough). I'll probably catch it on digital when it releases out of morbid curiosity.
At this point the studios are probably hoping that it simply won't make a massive loss, but it has some very well paid celebs attached that need paid. I wish they had the money to do what the...

I wish they had the money to do what the bigger studios can and simply wipe and restart. Borderlands could do with a decent movie or two out of it.
I like Borderlands and I know that's not popular. I hope this never sees the light of day, honestly. I'm just really sick of adaptions on the whole as of late. Been burned far too many times.

To be fair, Borderlands is campy schtick.
I personally wouldn't have cast Kevin Hart, but its not a deathknell.

I mean, the very first major boss was 9 Toes (also has 3 Balls), and with how prominate Claptrap was, it was always very zany.
Surprised they didn't have some penguin appear and hold up a spork

Indeed. I am frankly speechless.

When a writer goes so far as to pull their name off of a project, you just know it's going to be a complete shitshow.
Does this happen often? It sounds like a crazy thing to reveal LOL
