The appeal is basically this. The first one is a good psychological thriller in the vein of Se7en with a great twist. The next 1 or 2 manage to keep some of that energy, but as they go on it turns into more of what feels like a CBS police drama with a lot of gore. They also maintain the tradition of every movie ending with a twist, and these get increasingly convoluted as the series goes on. These later movies (except for maybe 6) definitely aren't as good as the first but if you can handle some gore and enjoy a ridiculous plotline and stupid twists they're a lot of fun. I haven't seen Jigsaw or Spiral yet though so idk if they maintain that trend.

Saw X is being directed by Kevin (of Saw VI) so this is probably the first good Saw film since VI in 2009.

I’ve only seen The Final Chapter and Jigsaw. I kind of liked Jigsaw. The trailer is pretty sick, and I thought those actors were better than most of the ones they get for the saw series.

You poor thing. You need to watch them all. At least the first three. Spiral as it’s a spin-off and I like the traps.

I don't think I can sit down and watch them. None of them look great. I saw Final Chapter when I was 13 and was browsing Netflix for any horror movie. I saw Jigsaw cause I had moviepass at the time and the trailer was cool.

If you aren't a horror fan then I understand. But they are fun to watch, although I don't know how you'll do having seen so much on YouTube already. I'll say this: you've watched the two worst films in the franchise.

I don't watch Saw, Conjuring, Insidious, whatever other franchises exist all the time. I have a friend like that and a lot of the times he goes "nah these movies are bad, but we like them anyway." But I do like horror movies. The Thing, The Exorcist, and A Nightmare on Elm Street are probably up there in my favorites of all time.

LoL. I had a friend ask me this once and I had to explain that since I had watched 5, I kinda felt obliged to watch 6. But I really can't follow the plot much after the first one.

This looks so good. I can’t wait for September 29.

TIL these are still coming out. I don't know if I should be impressed or not, but I'll watch it either way.

Spiral was a disappointment (only 40 million gross on a 20 million budget) that's why they have roped in Saw VI's director, the last decent Saw movie. No one wants to kill the cash cow.

I didn’t know there were so many. It’s amazing there are more Saw movies now than there are Scream, Exorcist, and A Nightmare on Elmstreet movies. Almost as many as Friday the 13th movies (12 so far)

I swear, I must be the only person who can't watch these because Jigsaw and his motivations make me so incomprehensibly angry. There's no scariness or suspense for me, just rage. I don't know why this specific fictional character does so, but I literally got up and left halfway through the second one because I was just so enraged.

It's weird, no other horror franchise does this to me (neither Terrifier nor Se7en, both of which seems to be the closest thematically to Saw to me, evokes a similar reaction), but it's just sad to see that they're still churning these out.
