Happy to see they went through with a third part although this teaser makes it look like an action packed slaughter fest which might please the masses and I will be one of the few that won’t like it I guess. Either way can’t wait to see it haha

I typically like sci-fi films that take their time with the plot and character development, and I loved Alien and several of Ridley Scott's other works. I liked some of the themes that Prometheus and Covenant explore, but man, so much of the plot, particularly in Covenant, hinges on these gaping holes in logic that just completely took me out of the film.
This definitely doesn't look like a slow burn, so it will be interesting to see how it compares to those two. I agree that it will probably be viewed more favorably.

One of the best things about the first 2 Alien movies is they revolved around characters who were fully competent and capable but being out of their element or simply 1 step behind a superior foe. That's what made it scary. Not because of a couple scientists who where scared and skeptical at every turn until the giant fanged snake shows up and they said "hey let's approach this thing and touch it for no reason"
I liked them both as well - moreso, I loved Prometheus and was satisfied with Covenant. Have you watched Raised By Wolves? It's not Alien connected, but (as Scott says) is a cousin to the Alien...

There are a ton of similarities to the Prometheus line, and since we're not likely to get a third in that series, I'd like to think that Raised By Wolves entertains some of his create ideas for the finale out loud.
I never actually watched covenant, but I did enjoy the look and feel to prometheus. I tend to give plot holes less criticism than other people, because to me sci-fi is already fiction. It doesn't...

Exactly. It's like watching David Lynch - all loose ends aren't going to be tied up, all character arcs may not be paid off - it's the feeling that the thing evokes scene by scene that matters.

It was so strange. I love it when IP shoots for ideas first a palatability second. Lots of it is just too weird, too vague and too high concept for even today's tv and that's why I love it.

I forgot to mention there are fancuts of both movies out in the seas to find with additional scenes that where cut from the cinematic version but should have really stayed in.

repeat the same tired Alien beats again.

(Isolation, which is one of the best renditions since the original — takes place with Ripleys daughter 15 years after Alien, which also takes place between Alien and Aliens.)
I do hope they focus more on the horror aspect which made the originals and Isolation so great.
Interestingly I always viewed the Alien franchise similar to Zelda games: iterations on the same story. My sticking to a similar formula the voice of each director/crew came through in a unique way.

I liked Prometheus but I found Covenant to be a slog. This isn't connected to those though and takes place in between Alien and Aliens.

I’m so sad Raised by Wolves was cancelled. What a weird and wonderful show.

Great to know - thanks. Would love to hear what you think of Raised By Wolves if you get around to watching it.
All I get from this trailer is that they're going to repeat the same tired Alien beats again.
