Surely it will never approach the brilliance of Jem and the Holograms, though.
In all seriousness, I'm really desperate to know how Michael Bay intends to turn an 11 second animated meme into not only a whole movie, but an entire film series. I think if there's anyone able to do something that successfully appeals to kids with a massive budget, it's him - just look at how much people loved his TMNT and Transformers movies!

Skibidi Toilet goes way beyond that, there's currently 70+ episodes, some of which are 10 minutes long, and there's been several narrative arcs surrounding the power struggles between the skibidi toilets and the fraction, including some internal power struggles among the toilets. Still very short-form and very silly, but across everything that's been put out, there's quite a bit of narrative and backstory, all told with (mostly) the only spoken word being "skibidi." I don't know how well this can adapt into a cinematic movie, but there's certainly enough raw material to work with when you dive into it.

Art for arts sake - why shouldn't people create things they enjoy? Why make sequels and prequels and spinoffs if the original had a 'good enough' narrative? Because people like to create.
It's popular - people like (or think they like) remakes of things. Why has Avatar the Last Airbender been recreated in live action not once but twice? Thus:
Money - let's not be naive, the most realistic reason for creating a movie like this. Michael Bay & the team behind this clearly think there's a profit to be made.
I think you missed my point because the answer, in this context, is clearly #3. This isn’t a labor of love by people who desperately want to tell the complex story of the world of Skibidi Toilet....

No, I should apologize. I assumed that was obvious in the thread based on the sarcasm of the initial comment but that doesn’t really carry over. I should have made that clear so I’m sorry.

Edit: this has been resolved. I think Michael Bay's interest has gone to the head of dafuqboom (the 'creator' of Skibid Toilet): From Twitter: source If anyone doesn't know, Skibidi Toilet is made...
An update on that thread is saying that dafuqboom is not behind the DMCA notice. Speculation is either the DMCA is faked or just someone trolling. So nothing to really be worried about at this...

I have further read that it is potentially the production company that is acquiring the rights that is behind the DMCA request. That makes sense from a "who would do such a thing" point of view....

The views are for the entire YouTube channel, and skibidi toilet is apparently a fairly long series at this point. So I don't think the comparison is quite as lopsided as you think.

Cringe is definitely not outdated, and calling something the Ohio version is more like calling something the discount version of something. The Ohio trend was over a year ago at this point and doesn’t get used anymore. (ex: you look like Margot Robbie from Ohio also see: Walmart version of Margot Robbie).
People still use cringe, I don’t know why it would become outdated.
From what I remember, Ohio has been around since like 2019 or 2020 (whenever "it's all Ohio?" took off). It just happened to still be around when "gen alpha brainrot" started to become a meme.

Desperate or bored? I mean, if I had his money I'd be messing around like Daniel Radcliffe. Someone comes along and says "Here's a dump truck of money. Make a movie about evil toilets." and I'd...

No, he's probably not the film snobs choice to direct Citizen Kane 2049 but he's got money and gets to do creative things. He doesn't have to understand it, just make your kids want to go see it
This is shaping up to join the ranks in the pantheon of our finest films, alongside The Emoji Movie and Jack and Jill.
Surely it will never approach the brilliance of Jem and the Holograms, though.

If the video series is so narratively rich, why does it need to be made into anything else?
Why are books adapted into movies? Why are animated films adapted into live action? Why do people write fanfiction of the franchises they love?

This feels more like Snakes On A Plane.
The Half-Life movie we never asked for.
.....i mean. If it pans out I'll watch it, im not immune to movies based on my favorite nonsense ¯\_ (ツ)_/¯

If anyone doesn't know, Skibidi Toilet is made in Garry's Mod.
This would be like Bernie Burns from Red vs. Blue suing Microsoft for Halo. It makes absolutely no sense.

Is there a word for when old people desperately try to hang on to whatever it is todays kids are into?
"Hello Fellow Kids!"-ism maybe. Or like Mr. Turner-ism, as in Timmy Turner's dad.
Or maybe it's just "cringey." Do the kids still say that?
Cringe is a little outdated; "Ohio" is the word that means something bad or cringey now. It's like a combination of 'cringe' and 'mid'.

Corporate marketing?
Seriously… these people have no idea what they’re doing…
