What's wild to me is Gal Gadot being cast as the Queen. She won Miss Israel in 2004 when she was only 19. In 2016/2017 she played Wonder Woman, sheltered princess of power, full of innocence and purity etc. And now she's perceived by Hollywood as Evil Step Mother aged? She's 39.
It reminds me of an old Hong Kong drama, 男親女愛(2005) where the office old maid character is the leading male character's aunt (pic here) but in real life he's younger than her by 3 entire years. A man in entering his 40s is in his prime, whereas a woman turns into evil step mother and spinster aunt. In Sex In The City (2010), they wrote that Kim Cattrall's (45) character was dealing with menopause, but that might have been due to work place bullying I guess.
It depends if you think she's much older and hiding it due to being a witch with evil magic or not. But Snow White is supposed to be like 14-ish. Stepmothers are often portrayed as younger than...

Stepmothers are often portrayed as younger than actual mothers for all those societal reasons of men marrying younger second wives. 40 is perfectly old enough to be Snow White's biological mother at 14, but even if they've aged her up to 18, 40 is reasonable.
I'm not a Gal Gadot fan, but I'm her age and I'm a stepmom (Evil? Who's to say) to a kid who has graduated college. So, yeah she's old enough.
45 is the low end of typical menopause age but some people have it earlier. I don't understand the complaint there?
But yeah the age of casting can get weird. This however just feels like age catching up to us.
Manopause can start at 45? Yikes on a bike It's entirely possible the angst is coming from my own beef with being around that age. I feel about 29-31 but the calendar says otherwise

Maybe if menopause didn't last fucking ages... If you go into it early, that is. My mom didn't stop having it be a shit experience until she was 51 - so that's a long ass time of hot flashes and...

Personally I think I'll just postpone it until I medically can't anymore (risk of ovarian cancer eventually outweighs not having to deal with menopause).
To be fair I haven't had a period in 10+ years due to IUDs, and I don't want children so no reason to change that for the next 10 either. Means that, for me, it'll most likely go from 'not being bothered with it' to 'wtf is this bullshit', so I've got reasons in wanting to avoid it for as long as possible lol.
I've not read up on it at all :/ how does it work for folks on IUD? Do they get hot flashes etc still? Just without the no period warning I guess? Buddy of mine was 42-43 and thought she was going...

Honestly I'm not a 100% sure myself - just turned 30 so it's a little ways off thankfully. What your friend went through sounds like my absolute worst nightmare though hah - I do know you can...

What your friend went through sounds like my absolute worst nightmare though hah - I do know you can absolutely still get pregnant in the early stages of menopause, so I'd be hesitant to say goodbye to my IUD unless I get 100% confirmation I'm no longer fertile.
Not sure if "fake" hormones would cause any issues with starting menopause, or with taking menopause postponing drugs. So I might switch to a non-hormonal IUD to keep the pregnancy protection but stop the hormonal interference.. ugh I hate how stupidly complicated this shit is.
Broadly hormonal BC mostly masks menopause symptoms by continuing either the cycle of monthly pill packs or the steady hormone release of an IUD or implant. It doesn't actually postpone it....

I believe there's a point at which it's less healthy to remain on HBC too. Not sure when that is.
Oh and we haven't mentioned perimenopause which is the Superbowl pre-show of menopause.
I don't see why an evil stepmother couldn't be essentially any age. 39 seems to be a perfect age for an evil stepmother. On the verge of turning 40 seems ideal for someone so vain.

Interestingly enough, this was the original image of the dwarfs in this film so I believe this current design was a last minute pivot (there were heavy reshoots on the film). I also remember...

Edit: pardon me, that was SITC2. Here's a hilarious Roger Ebert review beginning with the sentence "Some of these people make my skin crawl."

It's premature before 40, early from 40-45 and just regular menopause from 45-55
So yeah I feel you. I'm 40 and that doesn't feel right
Sure can, my mom started when she was 42, her mother when she was 45.
So much fun to look forward to.....

Consider yourself lucky and enjoy it. Many people feel 10 years older than they are.
Physically or mentally? :) I for sure don't feel physically ten years younger, only in immaturity

Gal Gadot is a terrible actor... but her not being the fairest of them all is absolutely unbelievable.
I think it's perfect casting. The evil queen is the prettiest of all but rotten inside. Don't be deceived by appearances only.
well said, actually. She's still a terrible actor, but this covers half of it.
The dwarfs look weird

I am soooo not excited for another live action remake... I want new stories please.
