What happened yesterday has no place in any sport! I hope that those that created the mayhem and the stadium managers are held accountable. Scenes like what we saw yesterday has happened before in other parts of the world in big football events like yesterday's game. I am surprised more people didn't get hurt. What a disgrace! I don't know if this stadium has a general manager and a security manager but both should be fired. What I saw from social media posts and TV was a complete lack of crowd control and unpreparedness by this stadium. Loved the game, could have gone either way if it wasn't for an incredible play by Argentina. Quite frankly I am surprised that the game was played at all but I suppose the mighty dollar comes first among all.

Carli Lloyd & Alexi Lalas react
I've can't with the USMNT anymore. I have been so invested with the team over the years but US Soccer has one consistent failure after another. Yesterday after the failed Copa America campaign to tune back into what others are saying and once again I hear the same thing: US Soccer isn't going to change and stay the course! So there you have it everyone! Wondering what folks outside the USA think about our situation, what do you recommend or change if you could?17 votes -

Time zone challenges aside, I’m really appreciating the growth in the competition and the extent that the tournament has grown in popularity, viewership and more importantly recognition.
When I (for the first time) watched the Euro’s last year there was a perceived slower pace of Football and it took some getting used to compared to the pace of, for instance, the Premier League. But after watching a few games I’ve come to realize their game is developing at a high rate - and this World Cup’s excitement, quality of play, and upsets are evident that these players are catching up fast. They really are really putting on a show to be appreciated.
But, like I said in the title, I’m watching Footie from the US.
And, I wish I could say different, but the Fox commentary, in the simplest terms, sucks big time. Their breathless uneducated excitable play by play commentary (especially John Strong’s) detracts to the point that this is not an enjoyable experience at all.My resolution is to watch the game on Telemundo (in Spanish) so I can appreciate the talent on display, and not suffer the distraction of terrible commentary, but still pick up on the vibe.
If American Soccer wants to evolve, then the TV commentary needs to toned down from overly excitable (and partial) to more informative and educational.
I’m so grateful that the Wall wasn’t built tall enough to not now allow Spanish commentary.

DC United parts ways with long time coach Ben Olson in the middle of dreadful season

Olsen has been a fixture in D.C. United for over two decades. First as a player and then as the longest serving coach in the franchise's history. In fact, in all Washington sports, only legendary football coach Joe Gibbs had a longer stay at one team.
Yet, he's always been a bit of an anomaly for such a long tenured coach. He never won the league championship, and only one piece of hardware (the somewhat obscure U.S. Open Cup, a tournament competition open to all professional and amateur soccer sides in the country) during his tenure. But he was known for his gritty game style that squeezed a lot of value out of one the most poorly funded rosters in the league for the decade he was at the helm.
But the last year has been especially bad. After the departure of soccer superstar Wayne Rooney, the front office struggled to fill the big shoes left behind and the wheels began to really come off. The team is currently sitting with just two wins. While some of that can be ascribed to a slew of injuries, United has played matches missing 8 of what would likely be their starting 11 this year, Olsen has been seen on thin ice for a while for not being able to get beyond the occasional playoff appearance.
It's kind of a mixed feeling among the fanbase, many of whom knew that it was time for the club to move on from Olsen, but at the same time he is a legend to the club for his long time involvement and glory days as a player. Still, some loyalists say the front office has dug their own graves with this move, as Benny was probably one of the only people in the world willing to coach the squad given how little the front office spends on its roster. Now they may be out of excuses as to why the wins aren't coming.
