Reddit continues its banning spree, r/GreatAwakening has been banned
This was the QAnon subreddit. I filtered it a while ago so not really sure what they’ve been up to of late, but I expect just more of the same. That subreddit genuinely terrified me honestly.
The whole QAnon movement is a ticking time bomb for a murder or mass shooting of some sort.
That said, I hope Reddit realizes they've crossed the Rubicon and are smart enough to bite the bullet and ban r/the_donald, r/conspiracy, etc.
I doubt they'll ever ban t_d. It might be ground zero for the most recent wave of fascist toxicity metastasizing across reddit, but it's big, they buy a lot of gold, and I don't think the admins want to deal with the blowback they'd get for banning the president's subreddit, regardless of how badly it needs to happen.
I would just love it if they ban the sub the second he's gone
I feel like that was the original plan, but fate (and Russia) had other ideas.
T_D seem nervous

Oh my lord, I gotta visit here more often. Get a load of this guy:
Lol. Literally the highest office in the land, and they think they're being suppressed.
Their 1984 shtick doesn't work unless they're both incredibly powerful and incredibly vulnerable at the same time. Same with their fabled enemy, "The Deep State."
Very dangerous, but full of weak snowflakes.
Umberto Eco, Ur-Fascism, 1995
The lack of self awareness is fucking staggering. These fascists in training have been making the internet worse for like 3 years now and they don't even understand
I think this post stood out.

Just keep in mind that 8chan was born because 4chan became too "SJW". So, the people that thought 4chan was too tame came to reddit and 8chan as refugees.
Yes, because the Reddit admins are watching everything you do, hoping you'll give them a strong enough justification to finally drop the banhammer on you.
I can only get so erect
But then where will I get all my drama from?
For your own health, you should focus more on organic, free-range drama. Consider artisanal debates on whether or not it is immoral to mourn the death of a pet if you're non-vegan, rather than consuming the High Fructose Corn Syrup of drama.
You're right I definitely enjoy drama farmed organically from subs like mfa, dnd, cooking, and any/all fansubs but it's just so rare compared to massive amount of content spawned from dramamills like T_D, CTH, etc. :(
When I'm jonsin I take what I can get. You can't cut me off cold turkey! I don't know what I'd do...
You're going to have to watch out for dramabetes is all I'm saying.
I've got type D dramabetes
I believe one of them already started a major fire in California a few weeks back
Steve Huffman (Reddit CEO) has basically said he doesn't want to ban r/the_donald, so I don't think that's going to happen anytime soon. As I remember he doesn't think that banning them is going to help fix anything in the US etc.
If only Reddit were as sympathetic to the interests of the poor soldier as Julius. #BringTheEmpireBack
The last watershed moments would probably have been the banning of FatPeopleHate and the Moderator Blackout, going by those experiences and taking into account the direction Reddit is currently taking I'm skeptical they will actually go all the way this time.
It terrified me that people actually believed any of it. Sort of like how flat earthers are terrifying.
Looks like they're trying to move over to Voat, there were 1500 people online in https://voat.co/v/greatawakening when I managed to get it to load once (most of the "popular" subverses on Voat usually only have about 200).
Voat keeps crashing though, so it doesn't seem to be able to handle the traffic. Last time the site was having issues it took over 2 weeks before the admin even noticed that the site was completely down, so I guess we'll see if it manages to stabilize on its own somehow.
Edit: Oh, PuttItOut is actually paying attention to his site this time.
They're pushing v/QAnon as well.
Out of the loop... what was it? Also looks like /r/theredpill might be banned
Not the most unbiased source, but Cody Johnston did a video about it.
Holy shit his delivery is incredible. Astounded exasperation has just become my new favorite mode of comedy.
How familiar are you with Qanon, or "The Storm"?
If you're into podcasts, Reply All had a pretty good episode about QAnon: https://www.gimletmedia.com/reply-all/122-the-qanon-code

Hey that's me!
It's a happy day for Reddit and the internet as a whole
The sub was a powder keg and part of me is glad that it was banned before things got out of hand and they hurt someone, but I've been also worried that this will be the match that sparks that keg.
Had not heard this
Damn I had not read that
Nice.
The Donald needs to go. The Qultists are all going to go there and voat
Even the Donald users for the most part acknowledge the Qanon stuff as one big LARP
That's why they made new subs for it. The Donald users just gave them shit for believing the LARP.
They may go there temporarily but they won't stay and won't be welcome there to continue the drama.
I think you'd be surprised. They'll flock together in numbers when they feel oppressed
They'll flock to voat if the site can run or they'll flock to the chans. Even The Donald mods aren't dumb enough to let them be the ones to get them banned.
I can dream tho
That was a bad one that flew under a lot of people's radar I think. For fuck's sake, the "report" message was "report White Knights and general f****try" (uncensored in the original message of course).
