He picked "lol funny number" that also happened to be high enough that the board would be forced to look into it because he was trying a dumb power play.
They said we're not interested this is clearly bullshit, and he said no i mean it, they said prove it, and he signed on the line (masssssive simplification for brevity).
I, and others, speculate he figured he could use this to pressure the twitter board and then back out having made their months uncomfortable. He sure as fuck wanted to back out when he went to court over it. Instead it turns out signing on that line is really legally binding and other hyper rich people can fight you in court and win.
So...yeah. Given this isn't some childs idea of how to bully a mega corp, it'll probably cost less.
I was looking for the pitchdeck that is supposedly going around and can't find a copy. Bloomberg apparently has a leaked copy, but are not publishing it.

I can't imagine it's that interesting. Usual charts/graphs showing wildly optimistic nonsense about how it'll do X or Y thing Z% better than current, mixed with Musk's usual flair for somehow...

I guess some of the specific numbers might be interesting, but even then it's of course going to say some crazy ROI and the like.
Does this mean that Elon's AI company somehow ends up being the most ethical since it won't have to steal as much from everyone on the internet as other AI companies? Didn't see that one coming...
and noting that xAI will be able to train on the high-quality data from Musk’s social network X.

Somehow I'm not concerned about the ethics of Megacorp X not paying Megacorp Y for the use of the user-generated content hosted on their platform. If we really care about the ethics of it we should ask whether the actual creators of that data get a say in whether or not it gets used for training AI. Do you really think Elon is going to add an opt-in to Twitter so that only users who explicitly consent allow their data to be used for training? Hell, I doubt X is even going to add an opt-out, never mind an opt-in.
Good thing a billionaire is starting the company then
Puts things in perspective that Musk spent 11 times on his side project shitposting app.

Yeah obviously not. Also don't care about the corps, I meant random people and artists all current AI apparently needs to steal from.
Isn't the opt-out just to not use it?
Ahhhh yes, when I think of high quality data, I think of X (formerly known as Twitter)
I am also seeking 4 billion dollars.
What a coincidence, so am I! My pitchdeck is simply “I will spend it better than Elon Musk would.”
