I very much like the idea, and the free tier seems good enough, but I dislike that the premium option is a $2/mo subscription. If I end up not uninstalling after a week, I'd be much more inclined to throw $5 their way one time than ever pay a recurring subscription.
Subscriptions are extremely exploitative of people who forget stuff all the time.

I'm the same, if you give me a one time purchase Vs subscription, I'm taking the former nearly every time.
One thing I've noticed of late is old perpetual licenses Vs subscription. Perpetual used to mean you kept something forever, but companies obsolete things on purpose to make them moot.

They love to say each user is worth X revenue over a given period of time, therefore if we can acquire a user for B cost, they will more predictably convert the revenue. Their income will be more consistent which businesses tend to love.
I’m thinking of giving it a spin too. I’ve got a Pixel Fold running Graphene and the fact that it gives you an option to disable an app’s network access at install time is one of my favorite features.

I actually emailed the dev on this and he did set up a one time option. It's as much as a year up front though, which probably doesn't address your concern.

I did end up uninstalling it as the benefit over just having "Do you actually need your phone right now" as my lockscreen image was nill.
I think you can use lock-screen wallpaper with similar question. I used this trick few years ago with different sentence (needed a constant reminder about some personal stuff).

I don't know. Depending on implementation this feature can become irritating very quickly. I tried to install the app, but looks like it doesn't work on my phone - question screen never appear....

Upd: some permissions should be added manually.
Upd2: this app is not for me. Its like another annoying pop-up that I manually added to my phone.

I'm gonna stick with it but I could see this pop-up getting in my way at an inopportune time and leading me to uninstall.
At the end of the day, all of these intentional inconvenience solutions don't seem to work out as well as their ideals. I have a friend who's tried jelly star as a minimal phone and several other alternatives but through him I can see how these products alone can never spark change and how the inconvenience is genuinely life impacting in select circumstances (not severely, but enough to question why one is taking this path).
love the idea. I use an iPhone as my daily driver so I can't try it out, but I've used both One Sec as well as screenzen - the latter for Reddit in Safari. And it is definitely one of the best...

And it is definitely one of the best ways I have found to reduce my screentime. Just delaying the app has kept me from opening it so many times already
I've tried this for the past 20 hours or so on my OnePlus 10 Pro, but it doesn't work very well. It's only interacted with me twice on unlock, failing the rest of the unlocks.

I made an Apple Shortcut to achieve something similar. Opening/closing certain apps triggers the shortcut. If I've been on my phone more than 15 minutes the phone vibrates and a menu pops up that asks, "Is this helpful?" Yes does nothing. No, boots me to the lock screen.
The random interruption is just enough to make me consider what I'm actually doing.

The lack of functional NFC payments is really hurting, but otherwise love it.

I was just thinking that this feature would be twice as good as just a lock screen. You must answer the question to enable the finger/pin.

Thanks for the suggestion - I'm giving One Sec a spin :)
