I work as an engineer writing code that supports the production of our products in factories. I also creat designs for industrial machines to support production. My day to involves a variety of meetings adding my input and experience to how to better create and support these machines, as well as the actual hardware and software development work. Which generally consists of drawing schematics and writing code.

As for is my work worth 4x as much as yours? Ethically I don’t think that should be the case, but the high pay is justified by the profound impact my job can have on the factory. If I mess up I could destroy millions of dollars of production, and if I do well I can save huge amounts of money through increasing factory efficiency.

That’s totally anecdotal though. I know plenty of people who I graduated with who got jobs in the EE/CE industry.

I’ve always had some difficulty getting my mayo to emulsify properly. I’ve found a milk frother wand is instant and super easy. Much easier than an immersion blender.

I mean, do you live somewhere that gets cold? The temperature recorded is not the only thing that matters. The wind has a fantastic effect on the perceived temperature. I live in Ohio and it’s regularly in the tens of degrees Fahrenheit. But with wind, the windchill makes it feel well below 0f.

I don’t think this is an edge case, but the reality for millions of midwestern and north eastern Americans.

Also I’m not arguing against e-bikes. I personally would love to get one. But unfortunately I don’t think I’d be able to use one all of the year, or for all of my daily travel.

This is fantastic. And it’s interesting to note, that the relay logic seen in how the machine was programmed is still used to this day in factory automation.

Because factory automation was traditionally done with relays, they’ve created digital programmable relay systems called Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) which are incredibly common today.

Personally I just don’t see the technology as practical for me yet. I rent, so I have no where I can charge an electric vehicle on my own property currently. And then, even if I did, the cheaper and more affordable (though still far more expensive than a used ICE) EVs still have a range of less than 300 miles. Which for many people may be fine. But I regularly (daily) drive over 100 miles, and several times a week drive well over 200. And that still may be enough range, but I live in an area where it gets very cold in the winter, which depending on weather and traffic conditions can reduce the range between 25% and 50%.

It would be wildly inconvenient to do my daily commute, then go stop to charge my car on the way home every day.

Don’t get me wrong EVs can be great, and the tech is really exciting, but I don’t think it’s something that is gonna work for everyone yet.

I’ve recently begun learning the Godot game development engine.

Now that I’m out of school, I have a lot more free time to actually pursue technical projects for fun.

Currently, I’m just learning the basics. But I’d love to create a relatively simple 2d, sprite based, D&D inspired RPG.

Just a word of warning. BG3 is great for getting the basics of DND 5e, and the vibe correctly. But if you play on the tabletop there’s a lot of subtle differences.

Lots of good resources online for getting started in weight training. I think anything that targets your core or back would be really helpful. (Pull ups, rows, deadlifts, Supermans).

There may be, I’m not sure of your exact situation but I’m sure if you could consult with a physical therapist they’d be able to point you in the right direction.

    Hi,

Sorry if this comment comes off as unneeded advice that’s super obvious, but I don’t know anything about your personal situation.

But I would recommend, as a taller guy, who used to be very heavy (I lost over 25% of my body weight in fat at one point), some strength training.

You can probably do some relatively low impact strength training with low weights, and it might help your situation a lot.

I myself have essentially eliminated all of my back pain by doing exercises that target my back, such as bent over rows.

Now like I said, I don’t know about your personal situation, and if this is applicable to you. But even some small weights of just a few pounds could be a great place to start and they might help you out a lot.

It is 100% more approachable than the first game. And it’s a new story so you don’t need to know anything.

It’s based on the fifth edition of the d&d rule set which is the most modern and much more streamlined than the second edition (Baldurs Gate 1 and 2), additionally I find that since the combat is turn based, it becomes a lot more clear what’s actually happening.

Imo, if you like fantasy, RPGs with a strong emphasis on dialogue and turn based combat this is 100% a game you would enjoy.
