Had they been allowed to live life like humans then they would have adapted like humans....Indigenous people were forced onto reservations, their movements were restricted and they were not allowed to become citizens of the United States until 1924, the authors note.
While the Bison were pivotal I feel that this was the true reason for any long term trauma and suffering. Had they been allowed to live life like humans then they would have adapted like humans. Instead they were treated like a nuisance to be disposed of. Truly disgusting.

There are only commercial farming operations with family farms being bought or sued out of business and commercial farming ops only go...Here in Kansas they grow nothing but Corn and Soybeans now. There are only commercial farming operations with family farms being bought or sued out of business and commercial farming ops only go for whatever subsidies are available. Unfortunately the US government thinks only soybeans and corn are worth investing in while I think there should be more focus on healthy foods and regular crop rotation.

Now I use Amazon to find the item I'm looking for then go to the manufacturer's website to find where else to buy it. Amazon is still pretty good for window shopping though.

I am not an attractive person. It's my face. It's pretty bad. By the time I was 18(youth thinks they know everything) I had pretty much decided that there was no one for me and had made peace with it. I was doing the music for a party my roommate was having and basically sitting alone in the corner of an empty room at my computer managing music.
Suddenly, my now wife, walks up to me and starts talking to me. I think nothing of it because, as I said, I had accepted that no one found me attractive and had already moved on. What I did not realize this meant is that since I didn't care about sex I defaulted to treating everyone as a person first regardless of the situation and didn't have ulterior motives for anything. This is apparently an extremely attractive trait as it is what my wife tells me made her fall for me.
I had no idea she was flirting with me for over half the night until I had retreated to a chair in my room and she came and asked if she could sit down, then after a yes she sat in my lap. My wife is amazing. She really cares about people, has amazing empathy, and is supportive of everyone she meets. I couldn't be luckier to have had that exact person show up to the party who didn't care so much about my face. It really put my life on it's head.
Many ups and downs later here are the things I have learned are needed for a strong relationship:

Communication: You need to talk to each other. Regularly. About everything. They are your partner and sometimes things you may consider trivial may be important to them. Don't ever let your partner find out something happened via a third party if it can be helped. Talk about your day and add detail. Listen to them talk about their day and ask for details.

Include them in the things that you feel strongly about. If they care about a person, place, or thing then YOU need to care them. It doesn't have to be as much as they do but because you care about them some of it needs to transfer to the things they care about.

Communication: You need to talk to each other. Regularly. About everything. Talk about boundaries. (This is a mighty big one.) Talk about them early. Talk about them often. Boundaries sometimes change, grow, or shrink. Respect these boundaries and expect yours to be respected in return. Boundaries can be so many things and there are both healthy and unhealthy boundaries. Recognize this in both your partner and yourself. Work together on unhealthy boundaries that hold you back. You are not alone. Quick example of a healthy boundary: "I do not like to drink." Respect this and never push it. If they EVER want to experiment with a boundary like this fully converse about it, set limits, and be ready to back away and not return if they decide it is indeed a boundary worth having. Quick example of an unhealthy boundary: "I do not like talking about my feelings with anyone, ever." This is an unhealthy boundary (One I personally had trouble with.) While it should still be respected it also needs steady work to break down. Unfortunate only the person with the boundary can start that work. Once started you will not be alone and will have support as you break it down.

If you start living together you need to start having conversation about the day to day stuff and chores. These should never all fall to one person but should shared equally by both parties. Your partner is not your parent, your butler, your slave, or your housekeeper. For that matter you are not theirs either. Pick up after yourself and if one of you is slacking TALK ABOUT IT.
I hope I was able to communicate how important communication is to a relationship. Go out there and talk to each other.

The Witch Door - A person dealing with trauma and stress finds she is next door to a witch who, after being introduced by a cat, decides to help her.

Gawdwin LinkMy daughter is growing up and doesn't need me as much. I'm so damn proud of her, her growth, her strength, her passion, and her compassion. It doesn't make it any easier though.... I'm happy she's so independent and strong but don't quite know how to balance me wanting to stay an active part of her life while not smothering her. Also trying HARD not to let my anxiety about the whole thing show to her as well. Only love and support.
She is away at a camp she has been wanting to go to ( she had to wait until old enough) for the week and I'm used to seeing her or at least talking to her during the day. My separation anxiety is HIGH.
She is only 10 and I know this is going to only get harder as time goes on so am absolutely up for any advice from parents, or anyone really, who has been through this.

Being placed in an underfunded facility that put me in over my head in debt would have been the nail in my...I've actively lived in Stage 1 my entire life and have entered stage 2 a couple of times. Being placed in an underfunded facility that put me in over my head in debt would have been the nail in my coffin.
I go to therapy, I take meds, even switched meds a few times and have a fantastic support system but Stage 1 is just my home I guess.

If we ever discovered FTL or wormhole type technology it would be so interesting to point back at Earth and look at it back in time. Something I would have loved Star Trek diving into.
Hopefully it would at least force colleges to lower their ridiculous tuition fees if no one can afford it anymore due to not being able to take crippling loans.
