Maybe around 10% of it was singletrack at the end of a 80km route in 42C weather. That was... I'm not gonna say "fun", but it was definitely doable if not enjoyable.

I've had a couple of other races with more singletrack spread throughout the courses, and that was definitely more my speed compared to having it all at the end. A decently long road section to "rest" makes a big difference.

I think you're both watching more movies than the average person and your theater offers a good deal. I haven't been interested in watching anything except JW4 and Spider-verse this year, so that's twice that I've been to the movies the entire year. And tickets where I live are easily $10 to $20 depending on the theater.

I’d like to upgrade so that arbitrary, pretty numbers go up, but every time I randomly decide to start looking at better models, the prices are too ridiculous and the benefit doesn’t seem worth it.

I'm in the same boat, with the same card. It was already like pulling teeth to get the 2070 Super but in hindsight that was actually a good deal in comparison to the ridiculously nonexistent price/perf increases of this current generation of cards. If anything the GPU market seems to be going backwards instead of forwards.

While I can afford to buy top of the line now and not think about upgrading for another 5 years or so, there simply isn't enough benefit to my gaming and I can't justify supporting how corrupt and anti-consumer the industry has become.

Guess I'm sticking to older games until my 2070 kicks the bucket or prices return to sane levels, which seems unlikely.

Yep. Reddit doesn't deserve to profit off my content, so I'm not gonna jump through fucking hoops to give them traffic.

I like the fact that I have to actively click on the next page for Tildes instead of doomscrolling. Helps me put it away for when something more interesting is on the front page.

    Try chatgpt.

There is one I am having a little harder time: a kid wanted me to help her ask "tip of my tongue" for book title, and gave me descriptions to post.

    Try chatgpt.

Somehow the idea of potato chips and ketchup bothers me but I can't articulate why. Potato chips and jelly is out there enough that I'll give it a pass.

Single player games that don't have any of that are still pretty great. Everspace 2 has been taking up a lot of my free time recently, keeping in mind that things like exercise and spending time with family don't count as "free time" - they're responsibilities. I probably get in 2 hours of play every other day, which feels like more than enough. I guess that's in stark contrast to the bad old days of warcraft 3 and CS when I could play easily 8 hours a day without breaking a sweat.
