There is also TrueNAS Scale, which is a newer release that is instead based on Debian and meant to be more of an "all-in-one" OS for both NAS and other virtualization. Both options are free to use, as last I knew only the "TrueNAS Enterprise" products were pay-to-use.
I use TrueNAS Core as the stability that was expected was much more valuable for me, especially as I already have a box running Proxmox so I do not need extra virtualization from TrueNAS Scale.

But (perhaps I am erroneous here) it seems there is a large portion of the country that will go "Biden is in charge, therefore it is the democrats running and ruining everything" willfully ignoring what the republicans are actively doing. Perhaps I am mostly concerned that enough people in enough states will not think past that and throw their vote to the republicans again because "biden ruined everything".
I don't think that student loans restarting will drive young people from democrats to non-voters or republicans. I guess I'm just...worried that this will be used as another "rallying lie" while many people are hurting and struggling to just pay their loans.

Ubuntu Server will be "headless" AKA has no pretty gui and is just a command line. There are of course many other options but Ubuntu Server is an easy jumping off point, I use it in my lab to do many things!
TrueNas/Unraid make a lot more sense for a NAS (network attached storage) that would have high storage capacity and were intended to be content storage of some kind, like a media server etc.
After a quick google, it looks like Pop!_OS is based on Ubuntu that has customized GNOME (basically the GUI will be different than default Ubuntu Desktop), which will have the more typical "desktop GUI" experience.

First they have to be the party that restarted the loans, and then they'll have to stand by while every step of the process goes wrong, as outlined in the article.
In a country where that means the only other option is demonstrably worse in every way by an order of magnitude, this does not fill me with confidence.

I guess I was just more mentioning that I've noticed my device always err (sometimes frustratingly far) on the side of "can't understand sound, try again." And I agree, there's plenty of people who don't take the time to learn what the device actually can and can't do.

We're on the opposite end of that now, where almost everyone is operating under bad-faith and they've gotten rid of the few operating in good-faith.

Comment on Iran's supreme leader just made 5 tough demands for Europe to save the nuclear deal in ~news
Kronk So, let us into the coffers of the EU and protect us from US sanctions and we won't build nukes, or we walk basically. It seems very likely, at least to me, that they will be a fully nuclear...- Europeans must bring resolution to [the United Nations Security Council] protesting U.S. violation of UNSCR 2231 [the UN resolution endorsing the Iran nuclear deal].
- Iran's missiles and regional presence absolutely may not be discussed with European leaders.
- Europeans [must] clearly oppose all American sanctions against Iran.
- If the Americans try to interfere with Iran's oil sales, the Europeans must guarantee the purchase of oil from Iran.
- Europe must guarantee Iranian banking connections.
...according to [Henry] Rome [Eurasia Group analyst], Khamenei's demands should not be read as the final word on the Iranian position.
[Rome]"He has a habit of laying out guardrails for the government and he did this during the nuclear negotiations in 2014 and 2015, as well," he said. "But at the end of the day, he is known to take both sides of an issue and leave himself lots of opportunities to change his mind or refine his views."
"We think it's most likely that in the next three to four months, the Iranians decide to walk, simply because what the Europeans can offer — with regards to trade, investment and oil sales — it will not be sufficient to balance out the nuclear concession that Iran is making."
So, let us into the coffers of the EU and protect us from US sanctions and we won't build nukes, or we walk basically. It seems very likely, at least to me, that they will be a fully nuclear capable nation if we continue par for the course. I certainly hope things change, but I don't expect much from the puppet adminstration we have at the moment.

The few articles I read about them only seemed to confirm that. I am slightly sad essential and it's next phone are "going away" because its one less company competing in a marketplace where OEM's seem to becoming more and more monopolistic.

Comment on Amazon's explanation for why Alexa recorded a couple's private conversation and sent it to an acquaintance in ~tech
Kronk I would tend to agree. I have Google Home, which has its own issues, but if it doesn't understand you or isn't completely certain it'll reply with something along the lines of "I don't know how to..."...the fact that Alexa can interpret background conversation as a confirmation is a big problem."
I would tend to agree. I have Google Home, which has its own issues, but if it doesn't understand you or isn't completely certain it'll reply with something along the lines of "I don't know how to help with that" or "I'm not able to do that yet" or simply "I'm sorry I didn't catch that."
Another thing I think it's particularly good at is telling when it heard the tv and thought it was a cute, but quickly just turns off. True privacy with these speakers is of course nigh impossible, but at least GHome seems to be doing a better job of knowing when it's me saying something to it vs not. -

I guess it doesn't surprise me that he thinks they he can just ignore something he doesn't like, since that's how its been most his life.
I think what's really interesting though is that because of him, we have now defined any personal account related to US government officials as public forums. That will likely have some pretty big impacts down the road, although I don't know if it's a net positive or negative.

It's been a month-long project mostly on weekends and evenings, so past installing Proxmox on a Dell r710 and running cable management in my little rack (and terminating a couple rj45's backwards D'oh) I haven't done much else. But I have big plans!
Some planned highlights include:
-Learning/breaking and fixing Active Directory
-a media server
-pfsense baremetal on a little hybrid dell r210 with r210ii motherboard
-pi-hole resetup (I ran out of ports on my little 12 port switch!)
-feeling superior to other people cuz I spent a lot of money on equipment and electricity for my setup...or something hahaIt's very exciting, but I travel for work so progress is slow.

I'm super excited to be a part of this because (at least so far) everything I've read about the implementation of the trust system makes me go "Oh, well duh, that makes sense. Why didn't we do this before?" Can't wait to learn more and to help this awesome community grow in the right way. :)
To preface, I use Jellyfin instead of Plex so anything Plex-specific my only specific knowledge source is google.
Short answer - Yes, that should be doable.
Longer Answer - Yes, you should be able to install Plex Media Server directly on the Ubuntu Server (headless is generally implied when it comes to no-GUI servers like Ubuntu Server). Looking at this link, it explains what commands you would approximately need to run to get it installed - https://support.plex.tv/articles/200288586-installation/. From there you should be able to direct it to your Unraid NAS from the web GUI address in the install instructions.
Fun addendum - If you are interested in, or know a little bit about docker, you can use a docker image to set things up even quicker. This is not the only option, but I rather like hotio https://hotio.dev/containers/plex/ that you could use to get it setup. If you are unfamiliar with docker than this link may not make much sense, so you may need to dive into docker more to understand how to set that up.
