Yeah, and I know that because of this, they aren't as huge of a net producer of oxygen as people might think. (since they consume it at night)

This guy was saying though, that by having to produce H2O2 instead of H2O to protect from heat stress and damage during the day, they become net consumers of oxygen over a 24 hour cycle.

I can't find anything to refute or back that up, and I don't see anything that did enough work on heat stressed trees (it's mostly food crop research for obvious reasons) to know if that's true or not.

Was hoping someone here knew where the science was to educate myself further on the subject.

I used to work with a guy who had three PhD's. (two in Europe, one in the US). He had them in math, chemistry and biology. He said a few fairly outlandish things over the timeframe that I knew him, but every one I ever dug into it turned out was basically accurate.

One of the things he mentioned in passing, but which I haven't been able to confirm to my satisfaction is that when plants reach certain high temps, they start producing H2O2 instead of H2O. (around 45 Celcius)

I've read a few papers that seem to indicate that part at least is true, but I've never found anything that says whether or not this puts plants into the 'consumer' column for oxygen.

Anyone here able to point me to something that has this answer? or anyone here know the answer, even if it's not specifically been published yet?

To me the fascinating part has been watching the AI written content creep out to infest the rest of the web.

Used to be some news sites were clearly AI written, but that was about it. Then it started getting tendrils into hardware recommendations. Recently I've noticed one of my hobbies (fish keeping) is suddenly inundated with BS AI generated content about whatever fish I might be researching.

it's insanely frustrating. I miss quality results and articles at the top that were written by people with knowledge and a passion on the subject.

It seems like once or twice a year (or every other year at most) I brush off NMS and start playing again.

For all the games I've ever paid for in my life, I think the content additions and improvements made to No Man's Sky have been the absolute best. The game is over a decade old now, and they'll still just adding new content for free.

I just wish more people would give this game a shot. The release was a train wreck, but the work done since then has just been amazing year after year. I'm super impressed with Hello Games at this point, and they've managed to turn their pretty terrible launch into a text book example of how to repair good will in a community.

I got up at around 6am, fired up the BBQ and threw some ribs on.

My wife and kid were out on the deck enjoying the sun, then said a baby deer was sitting just below the deck. it had been born maybe a few hours before at most. the momma dear was kind of freaking out with people out there, so we all went back inside.

20 min. later the baby deer tries to take its first steps, and ends up getting entirely tangled up in the neighbor's soccer net. I had to go out there, and untangle it from the net. the mom was not particularly happy about that.

put the baby deer back under the deck, and mom came and got it within 30 min. or so.

then got to chill with my son playing some NMS. all in all, very rewarding day. (and the ribs were awesome, had my parents over to celebrate father's day with us.)

one thing I've really enjoyed, is I got a few bags of peppers months ago, and I put them in the grill one day when I was smoking some ribs. super low temp, with a great smokey/meaty taste to them.

pulled them out, let them dry and ground them into a powder. great way to get some quick smokey taste on meats if you don't have time to smoke them.

Something like another 9% actually comment, and 1% create new content.

A site might only lose 4% of their users, but if that contains most of the mods and people who created interesting content, you're going to be in bot-land soon enough. Reddit was already struggling with that. I don't think this is helping.
