Who got the better end of that deal? It was in Google rewards. They were already involved in that transaction. How much is me matching their phone records really worth?

The problem is that the problems are well known. If I spend the money to replace the transmission, I won't get that back.

I had to bring my Nissan to the dealer and wait around for hours or pay for my transport on three separate occasions. None of those were news, and my Tesla recalls have been ota software updates. That Nissan still has a serious problem that I'm not going to fix because the car is no longer worth it -- partly because people that know how to buy cars know how to exploit this issue enough to cast doubt.
Meanwhile everytime a Tesla sneezes, the media is all over it. That phenomenon has a name: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Availability_heuristic (also related is base rate fallacy, but I've already ranted too much)
We all are fooled by it. Even if we know about it. You hear about terrorists or random violence or EVs catching fire or plane crashes. Those harm or kill so few people, statistically.
You don't ever hear about someone (non famous) dying of cardiovascular disease or suicide or cancer or non EV car accidents, so we all don't ever think about them as the dangerous they really are.

The worst pain I've ever had by a large margin. It's only then that I learned what a 10 on a pain scale actually meant. I've got some permanent parethesia and loss of fine motor control.
For those that don't know. The nerves that exit your spine at your cervical vertebrae innervate your arms.
Damage and inflammation there manifests as pain, numbness, and tingling in your whole arm. Not because it's there. Because that's where your brain thinks it is.
Once you learn and experience it, you can tell the exact nerve that's giving you a problem. The mapping is called a dermatome. Unfortunately, most of the images you find of them are incorrect, including the one in Netter (famous anatomist's book, incredibly beautiful).
The ulnar nerve is one of these nerves. It controls your pinkie finger and half of your ring finger, right down the middle. The median nerve controls the other half.
Because humans were clearly designed perfectly by an all powerful deity and not, say full of shitty weirdness that we inherited from our fishy ancestors.

Op is using posix syntax for text replacement to suggest that solving this problem is as simple as replacing all the phrases on the left side of the middle / with the ones on the right.
That is extremely simple computing. This problem is not.
It's understament for just how difficult accomplishing the goals of what I see this law to be.

Both my brothers had children in the last six months. Neither of the kids would have survived, and one of the mothers would definitely have died.
The better question might be: how many of you can say for sure you'd be alive without modern medicine?

I'm fine with that in controlled measures.
I want my parmigiano reggiano or jamon or whatever to be "real" and not the stuff that plenty of Europeans think Americans consider fine food. (I'm thinking of Hershey's and green top sawdust parm. We purchase that at gas stations for children.)
The eu seems pretty well protected from the potential fraud that the article is claiming. The Heath risks are also ridiculous. Cultured meat is going to need its own "immune system" dumping antibiotics on it will not solve the problem.
To me this is equivalent to the dairy industry complaining that "you can't milk an almond" when the term milk has been used for any milky substance since it was unrecognizable in any of our mother tongues.
If it's not confusing or misleading, go right ahead.
I'm plenty in favor of cultured meat. I know it's going to be similar enough to wild vs farmed salmon, but I hope my grandchildren can see some of the world I saw.

At the very least because there are very few people outside of HR who have that kind of visibility into salary distributions.
Google recently found that they were underpaying men compared to women. I've also hired a large number of engineers, and this has never been a thought. Outside of the absolute highest level, people come in with pretty standardized salaries.
Women engineers are the same as men. Some are really good. Some are mediocre. Some are bad.
There can be barriers to entry at the educational level, but once you get to the professional level, so very few people now a days are going to discriminate based on sex.
Good engineers are just too hard to find, and having good engineers on your team just makes your life so, so much easier.
Great answer. My sentiment exactly.
