Seems pretty clear to me. Ambiguity is undesireable, if you’re trying to find out how to apply to a job at github, and theoretically the link is in the ‘help’ section, it isn’t ideal to keep the user guessing between /help or /employment. Moreover, if the user ‘employment’ somehow formats their landing page as a fake job application, that’s potentially a security concern. If you namespace users behind /user/, then it is much easier to tell that /user/employment is not an official page.

Haven’t there been studies linking the renaissance to the rise in coffee consumption? It may not be life or death, but I wouldn’t be surprised if coffee is more significant to our society then people think. And yea $2 million is nothing in macroeconomic terms, and I’d say it's a worthwhile investment to preserve something so fundamental to our culture.

Oh yea and caffeine dependency is gnarly, I knew a guy who had to drink monsters all day or he’d start having withdrawals, akin to alcohol withdraws. Most people don’t know this but coffee is about as addictive as nicotine, I still drink it pretty often, but it’s important not to overdo it.

The title is sensationalist and misleading yes, but there is a point there. The whole point of lethal injection is to make us look like a modern society that executes criminals humanely (itself an oxymoron). If the result of that is an agonizing death that doesn’t work every time, maybe we should take a second look at this system. Saying there’s no evidence to support the idea that gas is more humane is beyond willfully ignoring the facts. It’s clear to me and hopefully anyone else who’s done a miniscule amount of research that what they really have is an issue with perception. Nobody wants to be the guy that reintroduced gassing, and damn the person who literally feel the affects of their decision. Whatever happened to land of the free?

One day in the future we might get on that level, but with the state of the current tech, and even in the near future, I just don’t see this being feasible. AI today is capable of abstract works of art and even music, but the kind of continuity and coherence you’d need to make even a paragraph that made sense, much less a multi-part novel, isn’t there. For that, you’d need something closer to an actual sentient AI especially if you wanted it to be good.

I think Snapchat’s just a weird company in general with really questionable practices at times. Like intentionally making it suck on Android, the Snapchat glasses that completely flopped, and from what I’ve heard the work culture is pretty messed up (not that I can link a source for the last one). Not sure what they’re thinking with this

What’s up tildorans, This is more of a thought experiment then anything else, is the impact of consuming calories more or less impactful then producing the electricity needed to power the bike? And I also understand this is extremely affected by circumstance. Let’s say you eat beef 3 times a day and live in a part of the world where power is mostly generated via nuclear or hydroelectric. At that point, would the impact via electricity be less then the one via calories? What if you flip the spectrum and you’re a vegan living somewhere that produces all its energy via coal and oil, how does that affect the equation? Thanks

My first question is what is the funding? Contrary to what others are saying, you can probably afford to be somewhat sloppy in your layout/functionality as long as the service itself is ethical. What tends to kill video platforms however is a lack of income. Hosting in itself is not a profitable service, and last time I looked into it YouTube is a net negative for Google/Alphabet. Without its’ external funding and all the ads it probably wouldn’t exist either. Vimeo managed to hang on this long by erecting a walled garden, but take a look at vid.me or any other video hopefuls, the common denominator between most of them is they couldn’t find a way to effectively monetize themselves

I never played it as I don't have a PS4 which I think you need but I watched some of the Roosterteeth guys play it a few years ago (Ray and Burnie I think), and I remember they got matched with this random person and spent the next like 90 minutes working with this guy to finish the story. It may seem weird but it's always been convention to start arrays (basically just a list of values) at 0, mainly because of it's relationship with the hardware implementation ('A' can be stored at 000, 'B' stored at 001, 'C' stored at 010...). Another way to think of it is like, on Sunday, zero days of the week have gone by, on Monday, one day will have gone by, and so on. If you work with that mindset for long enough you get an intuition for it, I feel like changing the convention to starting at 1 serves no purpose other then to further obfuscate what goes on behind the curtain, and confuse experienced programmers
