I’ve actually just finished rebuilding my site using Django and Wagtail. I still want to go over some of the details but what the heck I’ll post it here!

It supports dark mode, but relies on the OS dark mode toggle. I opted not to include that on the site itself for simplicity’s sake.

I love the concept. I tend to lean away from companies like Google too. I use fastmail as well which you recommend. If you’re looking for web analytics that respects your visitor’s privacy, I can also recommend Fathom. That’s a referral link that gets you $10 off (if you want).

While Apple does some very annoying user hostile things to grow their revenue, I have some trust that their devices and services are privacy preserving. Only because failing to hold up that promise will damage their image and profits. So in our smart phone duopoly world, I’ll always choose Apple products over Google.

Cool site! I’ll be sure to keep checking back.

P.S., I’d love to be able to subscribe to updates via rss or mailing list.

I found this site recently and absolutely love browsing the art pieces. I think they have a great model that can support artists.

Yeah I hear you with the boredom... I definitely struggled with the same thing. But honestly the instructors do a really great job. It changed the workout into something I look forward to.

A couple years ago, I pulled the trigger on purchasing a spin bike online for around $300 CAD. It’s fully analog with a big heavy flywheel that spins. Using that with the peloton app has been a life saver in the winter.

I recommend the combo for anyone looking for a long term at-home solution that is “relatively” cheap.

A friend of mine once had a good point: CSS may not be great, but it’s the best styling language that exists. And he’s right. It’s weird, and has lots of baggage, but it’s the best we’ve got.

I recommend taking a look at Tailwind CSS. It provides utility classes for css. It is a great way to learn best practices since it basically is a bundle of best practices ready to be applied.

I’ve been using the Filson Original Briefcase for a while now and it’s amazing. Its expensive but I’ve already had it for 3 years at least and I expect it to last another 10.

It’s true. Librem has a long and uphill battle but their work is no doubt important. Even a small amount of competition in the area of privacy means that the competition can’t ignore it completely.

I would love to see ActRaiser make a comeback. It was an overworld city building game but was also a well made platformer where you beat levels to progress to new areas. It was tonnes of fun.

I’m happy to see that Apple is moving on this. Now that Apple includes privacy as part of its value offering, it has no choice but to respond to public pressure on privacy concerns.

I'm making good progress at work on my current task. And I'm wrapping up what I'm doing since I'm taking two weeks off starting next week!

I'm also chipping away at my side-project 30 Hour Jobs. I'm currently in the process of building out a more cohesive version of the site. As well, I need to write this week's newsletter which goes out Friday.
