Oklahoma’s hate crime law doesn’t include protections for gender or sexual orientation, so it would not be considered a hate crime for legal purposes. I'm just hoping they get charged at all.

I feel pretty strongly about that too. If they require me to add a phone number, I'm just not going to. I'm not giving these companies my phone number. If they won't take a Google Voice number, I just stop. I don't want an account that badly. I don't want your two factor authentication going to my mobile number, give me TOTP. You don't need my number for anything. And I'm not even one of the people this could actually hurt. People whose governments can target them, for example. Even "minor" disenfranchisement of people who only have a VOIP phone number over wifi/data, like I did for many years. Perhaps that's why I got used to just not signing up.

From what I saw recently, it will need a valid mobile number though. So I'm glad I did sign up before that.

I am a native English speaker, and I got a half a point off because I was nervous and stuttering and hesitating.

They will ask you open-ended questions, so if you can, answer with anything even if it isn't true. They asked me about someone I look up to, and I panicked because I didn't have an answer.

My assessor was very kind. I think that generally they're not particularly antagonistic or hoping you fail, so pretend that you're telling someone new about yourself.

I've been vegan for a couple of years now. Right around 3 years, should be. I was vegetarian for 11-12 years before that. A friend basically called me out when it came to the suffering of animals, and I went the rest of the way. I never enjoyed meat, partially because of the knowledge of it being a dead animal, but also because I just found the taste and texture of most meats unpleasant. I don't seek out meat substitutes that are meant to emulate meat for that reason. (An exception being processed meat like chick'n nuggets.) I never thought I was lactose intolerant, but I have noticed a difference in my digestion since cutting dairy out, so maybe I was slightly intolerant. I know that going vegan is good for the environment, but any of the reasons that aren't about the ethical treatment of animals are secondary.

I've noticed how much easier plant-based foods are to find in regular grocery stores in recent years. There are more and more options available; even a lot of store brands are picking up vegan choices. I tend to have some trouble getting a varied diet, but that's more about my own laziness than a plant-based diet. I could eat garbanzo beans every day and never get tired of them.

I think one thing that I haven't encountered a good substitute for is gummy bears. There are fruit snacks and pectin gummies, but none of them have the right texture. The Swedish Fish types are out there too, but it's just not the same as a regular gummy bear/worm.

I think context is important in these cases. The reason behind scars can be meaningful, but what the picture is highlighting is important. Someone who just had a miscarriage might be triggered by stretch marks, but it's not fair to as anyone who has been pregnant and gotten stretchmarks to hide them. Nor is it fair to make them think of those stretchmarks every time they post a picture where they might be visible. It is a part of someone's body, even a part of their identity.

If I was posting a picture just of those scars, highlighting those scars, or posting with an implement to make those scars, that's a different thing. But it's just a body. Eating disorders are easily triggered too, but a thin person should also not have to TW their body, unless again, they're deliberately posting a body check with the intention to highlight being thin or emaciated.

Part of what it comes down to is that I don't think a person should force me to be triggered by focusing in on something that might make me insecure or send me spiraling so that they don't have to look at me and possibly be triggered. They can look away, but I'm stuck with me.

Vegan options are such a tricky thing to advertise. There are a lot of people that would happily consume something tasty and vegan, but will deliberately avoid something as soon as you tell them it's vegan, even it has always been vegan, like a lot of regular potato chips (since lard stopped being common.) Slap a vegan certification on it, and suddenly they refuse to eat it or it's "disgusting." However, if you quietly make something vegan, you also lose out on anyone who eats vegan, if they don't ask enough questions. (And a lot of people are turned off from asking questions because of the "that vegan" stereotype. When they do these test runs, it never seems to go well enough for permanent menu changes. I feel like a lot of companies are just doing it so that they can claim they tried.

I use endeavourOS with XFCE on a ThinkPad E495. Mostly I play indie stuff either from with Proton from Steam or native Linux running stuff from itch.io. I'm not "gamer" but I enjoy a diversion. I've spent some time with Final Fantasy XIV which runs without any problem through Steam. Boyfriend Dungeon and Cult of the Lamb worked perfectly too and I logged a fair few hours with those and never had an issue. I had to mod Guilty Gear Strive, but that was my hardware, not that it wouldn't run on Linux with Proton.
