I think a lot of people assume that the manga is the original version, as it's illustrated by Takeshi Obata of Death Note fame, so it looks the most high quality. Also light novels are not that popular of a format in the west (they are worst parts of novels and comics put together imo).
I think there were like two pictures besides the cover so illustrated sounds quite generous :D. I feel like these older LNs don't have much difference with novels. Light novel is just pretty much...

I feel like these older LNs don't have much difference with novels. Light novel is just pretty much a publishing format, that tends to gravitate towards certain types of stories. Modern LNs are pretty much amateur young adult fiction, which is very much a popular genre in the west.
That said, I read the original Japanese LN last year, so excited to see where this goes. Looks like it'll follow the books plot closer, but I'm not really a fan of the art style.

Extended thought with major spoilers
It looks like the anime might focus on Rita as the protagonist instead of Keiji, since the teaser seems to feature her first loops? That or the teaser is just focusing on the flashbacks. I don't know if they decided to just focus on her for the teaser because female characters get more attention. Keiji does seem to appear, assuming the man/boy with black hair and the blue exoskeleton is him.
Also, I'm obsessed with how young she looks. A key detail I remember is that Rita was younger than she claimed to be, she stole someone's passport so she could enlist as a teenager. Looking it up, she was around 19-22 in the series proper. She definitely looks young in this teaser compared to her manga design, which just adds this whole other layer of tension to the situation. Plenty of anime and manga are about teens fighting to save the world, but All You Need Is Kill is a bit more realistic and gritty than most, so it hits differently in that setting.
In the words of a fat, elderly, serial spouse murderer, "Oh my god, what's wrong with your faaaaace???" I like the look of this, though. The visual aesthetic takes me back to the 90s for reasons...

I haven't watched a lot of anime so the art work looks unfamiliar to me. But I really like the novel and the movie and I'm a big fan of the key concept of the story so maybe I'll give this a look....

I do like Studio 4°C's older stuff like Tekkonkinkreet and Mind Game and then kind of got out of touch.
But I'm looking forward to watching their stuff again!
The teaser is promising, but I'm nervous about it being handled by Studio 4°C. The biggest shows in their repertoire are Berserk 2016 and Halo Legends which are...mixed.

I'm not too worried. I looked at their works and those may be the most famous titles now, but people generally seem to have faith in their quality based on the reviews. While it's not recent and doesn't reflect their current work, I've seen at least the first two short films in Memories and can attest to them being well done.
From what I recall one of the biggest issues/complaints with the Berserk adaptations was the CGI, and it doesn't look like this will use that, so... Also this article on MAL confirms it will be a single movie, not a series, so I expect a lot more effort into it since they're not trying to rush multiple movies to meet some deadline.
Whoa, this looks really good. I'm also surprised I've never heard of it before either, since it's apparently an adaptation of the light novel + manga that Edge of Tomorrow was loosely based on.
The combat scenes shown in this trailer also seriously remind me of the game Risk of Rain 2, which is cool.
Took the words out of my mouth on all of it. Hope it can live up to the vibes because 100% excited to see it.

I wasn’t aware this is the fifth. Outside of the manga and Edge of Tomorrow, what else have they done?

Thank you for clarifying that up. I did assume the Manga was the main one that everything was pulled from.
It's probably going to be nothing like it but the environments look similar to Scavengers Reign (Spaceship, different planet, weird alien life).

I also found a nice music video they did which has raised my confidence level a bit. I'm hopeful it all comes together!
4°C is known for their movies, not their series. Mind Game, Tekkonkinkreet, part in Animatrix, to name a few.
