Past me would be disappointed I never pursued a creative goal of mine. The high effort and low chance of amounting to something worthwhile has kept me off it. I know I should just try, because if I did I could become better and maybe enjoy the process as much as the dream. But alas, I haven't managed yet.

Past me would be proud, and probably a bit surprised, that I went through a major career change recently that really altered my whole perspective on work life. Now I make a difference.

I have ambivalent feelings about this. It was annoyingly stimulating for a bit to long for my taste. On one level it was really stupid, but on another I really wanted to see how it would progress.

We have a shared whiteboard att work. In numerous occasions I've put a marker pen there but it always goes missing. I'm pretty sure I know who's taking them, so I talked to her about it. She just laughed and said something along the lines "I don't know, maybe it's me, I always lose my pens."

I asked some other colleagues who uses the whiteboard and they just always have a marker in their pocket. So basically the whole team has had to adjust to her kleptomania. I just wonder if she got a drawer full of pens somewhere...

Spoilers for later parts of the book how some of her actions affect the world through the loops and make her feel like a parasite on reality. Usually everything resets with each loop. Here there are consequences making a Groundhog Day approach impossible.

Well, to each their own of course, and I should admit that I only read the first book in the series so it might have picked up later on. But to me, it did not match my expectations at all. A lot of times the protagonists actions didn't make sense to me and side stories fizzled out with no payout. I felt like the whole time loop premise was squandered with so much of the book consisting of flashbacks to before the loop and I didn't care much for the diary style either.

I saw that you recommended Mother of Learning, and I agree β€” that is a great time loop book!

Oh yes! Time loops are amazing and I've been watching and reading them for a long a time.

Some great suggestions already, but here are some additions to the list:
    Movies
The Map of Tiny Perfect Things - cute, romantic story with two people stuck together
Happy Death Day - the main character gets murdered on her birthday, again and again...
Source Code - Jake Gyllenhall has to stop a bomb on a train from going off
Run Lola Run - how to get a lot of money
Day Break (TV-series) - a police tries to solve a murder
The X-Files, "Monday" (s6e14) - Mulder and Scully and a bank robbery

In this one the time loop is a spoiler

Triangle - Five friends end up on a mysterious ship after a storm

    Books
All You Need is Kill - The source material for Edge of Tomorrow
On the Calculation of Volume - Very low key and slow burning, but it has some interesting take on the concept
A Prince Out of Time - Fantasy progression where an irresponsible heir to a despot king has to avoid his own murder

    Stay away from these:
    Re/member
    Love Wedding Repeat
    Dear Spellbook (book)

It depends a bit on what it is about those books that you like, but here are some general recommendations.

The Liveship Traders by Robin Hobb - Merchants, pirates and sentient ships! It's a slow build up but it really pays off in the end.

The Deeds of Paksenarrion by Elisabeth Moon - A sheepfarmer's daughter becomes a mercenary. Some insight in the mundane life of a soldier, but also camaraderie and heroism.

The First law by Joe Abercrombie - A barbarian protagonist that blurs the line between hero and villain. Often called bleak and grimdark.

The Goblin Emperor by Catherine Addison - An unlikely and completely unprepared heir inherits the throne and has to figure out who to trust. Hopeful and heartfelt.
