I would stay away from this. There’s no lack of red flags from the creator. At best, it’s just naivety. At worst, it’s a grift. Either way, I’d stick to the last build of yuzu if you want it.

The time when a project like yuzu gets removed is a vacuum where people who have no idea what they’re doing, malware authors, and grifters thrive. That’s exactly what happened when the original YouTube Vanced died. Best to wait to it for a year or more until the chaff has been filtered.

    The literal first issue:

You can't just change a project license without all the past contributors agreeing, Suyu needs to remain GPL-3.0.

shrug, it definitely got deleted, probably just reverted. either way I just took a quick glance at the commits and there isn't anything to be excited about yet. I'd still wait.

Isn't Ryujinx pretty good? Is yuzu that much of a loss if it still exists?

Yuzu is a loss for Android - Ryujinx is arguably better on PC anyway, but for Android there's nothing quite like Yuzu.

Yuzu tends to perform better than Ryujinx while sacrificing accuracy. Especially on handhelds like the Steam Deck Yuzu if often the only option with mostly stable FPS.

I had wondered about this. On my pc where hardware power isn't a concern, ryujinx is by far the better emulator. Yuzu has so many more problems rendering the games I tried with it. On a mobile device where performance really matters that makes sense. It's still weird that so many people seem to ignore ryujinx as an alternative though.

Nintendo is infamously litigious, and this guy is literally posting to subreddits about the very thing that Nintendo takes people to court over.

Well, moreover they still have the fatal flaw that Nintendo went after the first time around (that the emulator will do switch file decryption). They still have it, despite planning not, because none of them actually know what they're doing and not doing decryption in emulator is a very nontrivial change.

Honestly, if a successor is to exist, a skilled group of devs needs to get that part done in mostly secret, AND THEN make a public page, once that piece of ammo is gone from Nintendo.

I think Jeff Gerstmann had the best take on this. Good emulators are usually developed as passion projects from developers who want to create something. No good developer is going to touch this after the law suit when they could just make their own thing. Even without all the red flags this "project" is dead on arrival.

So are we going to have "new" emulator every time Nintendo takes one down? Ok, I can live with that!
