Any good text adventures?
I've been starting to play some interactive fiction and I was wondering if any of you have any suggestions for good games.
So far I know about Zork and Anchorhead.

Photopia is a classic and among the first interactive fiction games I ever played. You can play it online here or download it to play locally from the same site.
Thanks. I'll check that out.
Haven't played that one, might have to look into it. :-)
I really liked Choice of Robots, Choice of the Pirate, The Eagle's Heir, and Community College Hero.
I would consider IF, CYOA, and VNs to be in the same genre, honestly. They are all games built around and focusing on narrative. "Walking Simulators" probably should be included, as well.
It has less of the "adventure" part as it's a relatively short one-room text game, but I would suggest checking out Violet. There's lots of little gags and interesting things done with the narration all structured by some neat puzzles.
9:05 is awesome, I also really like Kerkerkruip but haven't had time to really go deep.
I second Photopia too.
Are you familiar with the Interactive Fiction Archive?

I am. I was mostly using ifdb.tads.org. Is ifarchive.org better?
Looks like ifdb.tads.org might have a lot more sources of games. I was wondering if ifdb.tads.org only had TADS games, but browsing I found some z-machine games as well.
And I came across one of the greatest indie IF games ever. I played through this years ago and loved every minute. The puzzles are challenging yet logical.

Oh, also check out Glowgrass

If you like text-based adventures, you might want to check out MUDs (Multi-user Dungeons) and MOOs - they're the equivalent of MMORPGs but 100% text-based and were popular in the 80s-90s.
My friend runs one based on Mage the Ascension (pen and paper RPG): http://www.streetwitch.com/
Feel free to check it out.
Wow. That actually sounds really cool. Like DND run by a computer.
I would say that, unless you are particularly social and bring your friends into it, it's going to be more like your average MMORPG but without the graphics.
That being said, it's fun to join just to talk to the regular players. I recommend Discworld Mud, based on Terry Pratchet's Discworld books. It's got lots of interesting locations and mechanics, and it's a very large well thought-out world full of very welcome jokes.
I just posted it, and while it's not exactly a traditional text adventure, maybe it can be considered a bit similar? 404 Riddles
Some very good text adventures are The Chinese Room, Spider and Web, Kissing the Buddha's Feet, and Coke Is It! I think you can find them all on IFDB. Have fun!
