What are your favorite games on the Switch?

Looking for some new games to play. This is my list of liked games so far

  1. Worms WMD. This style of game just never gets old for me
  2. Mario kart. Looks really nice in 60fps and a ton of fun
  3. Golf story. Surprisingly fun golf RPG game, also great 2 player multiplayer
  4. Arms. Quite a bit more fun than wii sports boxing
  5. Baba is you. Really fun puzzle game with a unique idea
  6. Korg gadget. Not a game but I love playing with synths
  7. Night in the woods. I never got to playing this when it came out but I tried it on the switch and I like it

Warframe is on Switch as well if you're into that genre!

I bought a switch a few months ago, and with it I bought Breath of the Wild. I’ve been busier than I would like so I haven’t actually advanced much further than Death Mountain, so I have a lot of play left and probably won’t be getting another game for the foreseeable future. There are worse problems to have I suppose.

If you get the DLC you’ll be playing for a while.

My main plays (I know you have some and others are better on other consoles):

    • Baba is you

    • Hollowknight: this is hands down my favorite game of all time. Comes with all 3 DLCs for the same price as the original game, a badass looking sequel coming soon.

    • Smash Ultimate

    • Firewatch

Almost every game I play on any console I have found by listening to the SoundTrack online while at work. So I can say all my suggestions (other than smash) have good music! But also i don’t game much so I can’t help too much.

Surprisingly I found Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle to be pretty great. It's an Xcom-like game, with the characters from the Mario universe and the humour from the Rabbids games, and somehow it really works. It is also about a million times less frustrating than Xcom (and especially Xcom 2).

I only own a few games, but here's mine:

    • Diablo 3. It was one of my favorite games on my Mac, and now I can play it anywhere.
    • Super Mario Odyssey. It is my favorite Mario game and one of my favorite video games ever.

The other games that I have are good but these two are fantastic. I've been into Let's Go Pokemon also, but I've got to be in the mood to play Pokemon.

    2. Splatoon 2 - A good third person shooter from Nintendo
    3. Rocket League - For practicing on the go and playing quick matches
    4. Golf Story - Because I love golf games and this is a good 2D version!

If you judge from the playtime here’s my top row (the higher, the longer I played it already):

    1. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
    2. Xenoblade Chronicles 2
    3. Super Mario Odyssey – I’m currently stuck
    4. Shantae: Half-Genie Hero – already finished the main game
    5. Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap – I’m currently stuck
    6. Yoku’s Island Express – already finished 100%
    7. Hollow Knight – I’m currently stuck

    …and that’s already telling something.

But if I was to point out some games I enjoy a lot regardless of their play time, here’s a few (in order of last played):

    • The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – I absolutely adore the freedom of movement and craft etc. in this game.
    • The Way Remastered – scratches that oldskool puzzle-based adventure platformer itch
    • Tetris 99 – feck, this is addicting! Looking forward to the tournament this weekend, even though I’m not really that great at it (23 was my highest rank so far).
    • Dandara – very interesting approach to gameplay.
    • Another World – classic, genre defining.
    • Just Dance 2019 – hella fun to play with my GF.
    • Zaccaria Pinball – best pinball on the Switch IMHO.
    • ARMS – hella fun to play with someone and also online. Not quite as fun to play alone, but still great. I just love motion control games :D
    • Timberman VS – plain, stupid, cheap fun.
    • Membrane – interesting game, screwy art, reminds me of Beavis and Butthead on drugs.
    • Bayonetta 1 & 2 – again, a classic in its own right.
    • Rayman Legends: Definitive Edition – great platformer.
    • Snipperclips – haven’t played it in some time, as my GF prefers Just Dance and it’s a bit borin to play alone; but great fun.
    • Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime – same as with above.
    • Yoshi’s Crafted World – fun, fuzzy, easy (unless you want to 100% it) platformer.
    • WarGroove – for that Advance Wars fix, its a great match for the Switch, which has a great async multiplayer system and a Wesnoth-like user content repo.
    • Forgotten Anne – OK-ish as a platformer, great art and story though.
    • Mad Age & That Guy – mobile game port, but good puzzles.
    • Kamiko – short-ish, but great action game.
    • Xenoblade Chronicles 2 – an amazingly polished open-world action JRPG. It takes quite some hours before you grasp all the fighting controls, but it’s well worth it. Amazing story, art and characters as well. The only issue I have with it is that the jumping is implemented so badly (esp. compared to Zelda: BotW).
    • Fast RMX – my adrenaline rush on the Switch. I warmly recommend playing it with motion controls, which are much more responsive (some might say too much), but that gives it an extra edge as you’re playing at hyperspeeds.
    • Crypt of the Necrodancer – fun mish-mash of a rogue-like and a rhythm game. I’m not nearly good enough for it yet.
    • Katamari Damacy Reroll – if you know Katamari, you know you need it; if you don’t know Katamari, you need to check out the demo!
    • Snake Pass – 3D snake platformer with very inventive controls. Some hate it, I love it.
    • VOEZ – awesome rhythm game (yes, mobile port, but still great).
    • Hollow Knight – very poetic, melancholic metroidvania. Probably one of the best I’ve seen in a long time.
    • Valkyria Chronicles 4 – I finished the demo, and the whole series is a great spin on a turn-based strategy game with real-time FPS elements. I plan to buy the physical version.
    • Crawl – great back-stabbing game for parties, but most fun if all 4 players are humans, the AI is a bit annoying.
    • Yono and the Celestial Elephants – I haven’t played enough yet, but it seems like a fun isometric game with puzzles.
    • Shantae: Half-Genie Hero – a really good platformer/metroidvania with a fun story and art. I will very likely get the other Shantae title(s) as well.
    • Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap – great remake of a great classic platformer/metrodvania. As is often with great classics, it’s difficult as hell though.
    • Super Mario Odyssey – an amazing 3D platformer, I never liked 3D platformers before
    • Velocity 2X – an interesting mix of a shoot’em’up and platformer, where speed/time is often of the essence. Oddly enough, I thought it would be faster.
    • Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – fun and polished kart game, but I play it mostly as a party game
    • TumbleSeed – a very inventive spin on a rogue-like where you use both sticks to move a board on which your character rolls up the screen. Gets a bit difficult a bit fast, but I will get back to it for sure.
    • Yoku’s Island Express – this game just made me smile all the time. It’s a seamless mix of a cute platformer and pinball. First game I finished on the Switch.
    • VSR: Void Space Racing – 3D no-gravity space racing game. Simple to grasp the basic idea, hard to master. I haven’t played in a long while though.
