Post one of your favorite songs have other tilderados recommend a related song
Probably best to have the parent threads be somewhat more well-known songs to make this easier, but anything goes really!

Alter Ego - Tame Impala (oh, and btw, fuck Trevor)
Battles - The Yabba
Pretty cool, thanks. I like it. I'm only missing some vocals. I'll check the band.
Homeshake - Call Me Up
Thanks! Not bad. A bit too R&B and soft but nice.
White Denim - Holda You (I'm Psycho)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yY4W3YEgQ80
Umm, haha, I don't know, I fail to see the resemblance. Too much rock, too much guitar for my taste. But thanks anyhow!
Let's get some suitably friday bangers up in here... DJ Fresh - Dibby Dibby Sound
This one was tough. Big Freedia - Rent
I was trying to think of what genre that DJ Fresh track might fall into when I posted it and Bounce was one of the things I thought of.
Great choice, I've always got time for some Big Freedia.
Yeah that's what I thought was tough, it came off sounding like a more melodic-dance-bounce(?) track. Freedia was the first thing to pop into my head. Cheers buddy
Art vs Science - Magic Fountain
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vbhJ9c-pFoI
It reminded me of Maskinen - Segertåget
Sia - Reaper
K.Flay - Can't Sleep
Marina and the Diamonds - Seventeen
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-gcs_wyw5s0
What a challenge... so many different songs i want to use for this! xD
How about Lone Digger by Caravan Palace?
I run to your song all the time!
It reminds me a lot of this song: Shoot Him Down!, by Alice Francis
Neat! Thank you for this. :)
Couldn't limit recommendations to just one.
This is a near identical genre match for "Lone Digger": Spider Girl by Shadrow
This is a spiritual match for the content of the song: Let's Have a Kiki, by Scissor Sisters
Scatman
And
Mr. Pinstripe Suit
Electro Swing! Good genre.

Parov Stelar - Silent Snow
Little less refined but the first thing I thought of was Yolanda B Cool & DCUP - We No Speak Americano (bonus link to the brilliant original track)
There's something this Parov Stelar track really reminds me of but I can't quite bring it to mind. It's an acid/nu-jazz classic featuring a sample "put your haaands up" and this is going to annoy me for the rest of the day until I suddenly recall what it is at 3am...
Thanks for the link. Never knew the original ^^
The track I was thinking of but couldn't remember was Rose Rouge by St Germain!
They just played it on the radio and I remembered this post..
Crumbling Castle - King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard
Explosions in the Sky - A Song For Our Fathers
I spent a lot of time looking for a song, and I'm not really happy with my choice. Hopefully, someone else can find something better.
I like it! I might try out some more of their stuff. I actually appreciate instrumental/jam stuff cuz I like to listen while playing vidya games and theres not much to focus on so its great background noise.
They have hours of stuff to listen to. It's great driving/reading/background music.
Oh, I love KG&TLW. I'd suggest Matt Berry - Solstice which sounds quite different but I think they're are a little linked in terms both being from different ends of the neo-prog/neo-psychedelic movements. Also Berry likes a ten minute long track too.
I'm really diggin this. I'm gonna check out more of his stuff thanks for the suggestion!
S.F. Sorrow - Private Sorrow
Flower Travellin' Band - Anywhere [album]
King Gizzard is all over the place, but I think this album is similar to King Tuff - Psycho Star
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uiVnT1gSXZg
Two Steps From Hell - El Dorado
Egyptic by Beats Antique
Before the Storm
Little late to the party, but my first thoughts were all obvious, Four Tet, Scuba, lots of music you'd find probably on a related youtube/spotify suggestions list. So I gave a listen to the specific Burial track you mentioned, and it reminded me of a lot of things I listened to in the 90s that you may or may not be familiar with. Underworld, Second Toughest in the Infants opening medly or a lot of things from the WipeoutXL soundtrack, a CD born of s playstation game. Or since Burial can sometimes drift toward ambient, you may like early Autechre, Glitch
Yeah, was going for some older things. But also, I got heavy into Electronic again (comes in cylces) in 2010-2013. Seemed to be lots going on then. Actress. Flying Lotus. Gold Panda. If you're looking for interesting directions to sniff around, check out these live performances: Shigeto Ringleader on KEXP or Mount Kimbie NPR Tiny Desk Concert. And going a little more recent, there's little gems like Point Point Life in Grey or Jon Hopkins Emerald Rush It goes in so many directions. But flipping it, what other groups are you into? Any suggestions you've found similar to Burial?
Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros - Home
Shakey Graves - Roll the Bones
This was a good pick. It has the same spirit as a lot of Edward Sharpe songs.
Glad you like it! I stumbled upon his music on youtube one day and your song reminded me of it
Timber Timbre are normally liked by people who listen to Shakey :)
Very "related" (I think there was a law suit), and I adore this record for a lot of reasons not least being it was playing when I asked my girlfriend to marry me: Of Monsters and Men - Little Talks
One of my all-time favorite albums. I love this song. Haven't heard about legal issues, though.
I'm not sure if there was an actual suit in the end, but I've definitely heard some complaining about the two tracks sounding the same. Might have just been from fans.
Suitcase Man - Hjaltalín There's something similar there, I think.
That intro has a really strong spy movie vibe!
Haha, yeah, it does. I think the rest of the song is more similar to what you posted. Although different styles and times for sure.
Stomp and Holler is a great genre! http://everynoise.com/engenremap-stompandholler.html
Lots to choose from here. I recommend J. Roddy Walston, Apache Relay, Generationals, Shovels & Rope, etc.
Just like you - Roxy music
Cher - If I Could Turn Back Time
Not sure if this was what you were looking for..haha
Pulling from recent releases, you might like Kyle Craft - Heartbreak Junky
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JzuR4o5_V60
Hurray for the Riff Raff - Little Black Star
Feist - My Moon, My Man
Oh, good call. I love Feist.
I remember coming across the Boys Noize remix of this on Pandora ages ago. Fun stuff.
Houndmouth - Gasoline
Nice! This is a really good idea for a thread btw, thanks. I've already found some new music. :)
Thanks! Me too! Hopefully, the discussion keeps on going.
Great album. Tough to match.
Melanie De Biasio - Your Freedom is the End Of Me
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W0We6e7bZfA
Not a favorite, but been listening to it a lot lately.
Pacify - 65daysofstatic
The obvious comparison to 65daysofstatic is always Sigur Ros for me but I'll go for Plaid - Do Matter instead.
Yeah, I'm decently familiar with Sigur Ros so I appreciate recommending something else instead. To be honest, I wasn't feeling that song too much. It wasn't bad, but It wasn't for me. I really like the build-up type songs that just climax with tons of "noise". Some of my favorite Sigur Ros songs that I think are similar to the Pacify song I liked are Glosoli and Festival.
Sigur Ros are just one of those bands that I assume everyone knows about. They are great though - and if I had linked them Glosoli was going to be the track I'd have chosen. If you have an entire day free their Route One project is pretty cool. It's dip-in-an-outable easily enough though.
On the long tracks building up to lots of noise front... I recommended this on another ~music thread just the other day but I'll mention it again because I'm currently obsessing over this band like a teenager over an anime character: Heilung - Krigsgaldr
This is such a unique combination. I don't know anything else like it.
For the instruments, I recommend Andromeda Mega Express Orchestra - In Turmoil
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zl0h4cwHLNI
For the vocals, I recommend someone like Mars Volta. I wish I had a better recommendation than that.
The Genre Mars Volta is in is a bit heavier and more energetic. Includes bands like Coheed & Cambria, Closure in Moscow, etc.
Diablo Swing Orchestra - Rancid Romance
Reminds me a bit of World / Inferno Friendship Society
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=onrklAlfDIE
or Avatar
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FrvmURFvacc
I have no idea what this sounds like, but it's interesting!
Broken bones - kaleo
Broods - Couldn't Believe This song came up on one of my radio stations the other day and I just loved it for some reason.
Stronger Than Ever by Raleigh Ritchie.
I really love Louis Armstrong's La Vie En Rose, which leads me in a roundabout way to:
Dizzy Gillespie, Sonny Rollins and Sonny Stitt - On The Sunny Side Of The Street
I Wrote a Simple Song - Billy Preston
Nothing compares. Here's as close as I can get from 2018 releases.
The Dawn Brothers - Milk Truck

Castaway - Reuben and the Dark
