My band is playing a show tomorrow night. It's our first show in almost 9 months. We went on hiatus in September of last year while my wife was pregnant. We started practice back up in March and we've been working really hard to get back up to speed so I'm pretty confident that we're going to kill it.
Thanks! We play what I refer to as alternative 90's rock. It's kind of a mix of punk, alternative, and pop punk. We write our own material and play a couple covers too. Here's our bandcamp page if...

There's been a girl stuck in my head the last few weeks and I just put some films I was telling her about on a USB key there and will ask her out for some drinks and give it to her over the weekend hopefully! Been so long since I felt really smitten by somebody so I'm really looking forward even to just asking her out :)

I'm kinda yes and no about this, personally. If the movie is something I've recommended, I would feel weird sitting next to someone -- just willing them to like it and trying not to talk, it's no fun! Maybe that's just me.
Besides, it's a lot more fun to watch a crap movie and make jokes, if you're looking for a shared activity. I wouldn't ruin a decent movie by chatting, so we'd end up sitting in total silence for two hours.
... and then have something to talk about afterwards. There's also the shared activity of preparing to watch the movie: getting the snacks & drinks ready, setting up the sitting space, and so on....

... and then have something to talk about afterwards. There's also the shared activity of preparing to watch the movie: getting the snacks & drinks ready, setting up the sitting space, and so on. There's also a lot to be said for building up shared experiences in a friendship or romantic relationship: things you did together and can remember together. It bonds people together.
Of course, watching a crappy movie and making jokes is good, too! But, the commenter here is eager to share certain movies with their lady friend, and is obviously still in the early stages of getting to know her, so I thought this would make a good excuse for them to hang out.

Oh man! I went to our corporate office Sunday very early through last night very late. I am back home, and it is Friday! I am looking forward to finally getting my yard more cleaned up. The trees needed a major trim. I trimmed five trees weekend before last. I have two big piles of limbs and then the main branches I cut into fire wood size and the other limbs I just stacked up to later cut into fire wood size. It's all pecan wood so I hope someone just takes it for free off the curb. I couldn't pick it up last weekend because I had to work Sat before I left Sun in preparation.
I am leaving 30 minutes early today. It isn't through the proper channels or anything. I just am. Boss won't care and he isn't in today anyway.
I am going to order some ravioli from what is supposed to be the best place to get ravioli in the city here for take out and pick up on my way home tonight. I am highly debating going to a liquor store that supposedly has my favorite beer that I haven't been able to find. I'll probably just settle with the ravioli. I am going to sit under my back patio in the evening and just relax once it is dark. Maybe play some chess or watch something. Maybe music.
Basically the big three
clean up yard / mow / trim
ravioli dinner
relax under back patio in the great evening weather

After that, I'm looking forward to my yearly camping trip a couple weeks later

I'm teaching myself Python right now using Udemy courses. My goal is to learn a lot about the tools Data Scientists use everyday and combine it with my education in Industrial-Organizational Psychology, so essentially working with HR Analytics.
I'm not 100% fluent at Python but I am getting there and I seem to have struck gold olwith recruiters on LinkedIn. After posting a basic portfolio, my profile views and contacts have been way up and I seem to be contacted about a potential job opportunity twice a day.
That kind of feedback has really kept me driven on my self-teaching and really shows me there is a thirst for my skill set in the job market.

We are looking forward to relaxing this weekend, dinner is waiting in the refrigerator so no worries about that. Tonight we're looking forward to stress free evening, my dog (she is the best dog ever in the history of dogs) in my lap and watching the season ender of "The Expanse". I'll probably make some cookies this afternoon for a treat tonight. It doesn't take much for me.

I've just found out there's a Star Trek convention doing the rounds in Australia in October. I haven't been to a Trek convention in forever. My housemate & I are looking forward to that.

Double date with my girlfriend and her two friends, I think we're going to get sushi? I can't remember but I'm hyped for that regardless.
I get 5 days off at my internship, and Wednesday is Independence day which I get off anyways, so I'm seriously considering taking the Monday and Tuesday off and taking a 5 day weekend :)

My girlfriend and I will be moving to a new city soon where we will be working together. I’m very excited but a little nervous too
What's got ya nervous? Just general new-city jitters?
Yeah, mostly new city jitters. However, we’re also expats and the country we live in requires a lot of paperwork for foreigners to live and work here, so I’m a little worried about not having a form or some little thing like that which might end poorly for us.
Now that's an interesting twist! I hope it goes well for you!
If you don't mind me asking, why expatriate?
Partly for the adventure and partly because of the job. It’s something that pays a lot better and is much easier to get into here than in my home country
I had a surgery recently, to improve my quality of life, too. It was not a major surgery but it did change my life. The first days were really exhausting, but I am super happy I am better now. I hope all the best for you and your girlfriend.

That’s so awesome! Good luck! What kind of music do you play?

Why wouldn't you sit with her and watch the movies together? To me, this seems like a great opportunity to spend time together, and bond.

That's so nice, it really is a wonderful feeling. Good luck with the date :)
Lol believe it or not, the world cup. Knock out stages start tomorrow and since the cup only happens every 4 years it's always a special month for me.

Edit: in not tin
Canada Day! A full day of staying in and avoiding all people!
I'll have a drink inside my house, away from you, with you!
Cheers!

Wow, 8 years is one hell of a long time. If I can ask, why are you leaving?
I’m just looking for a change of pace. I feel like I have achieved all that I wanted to achieve at my current company. I started off opening boxes as a warehouse worker to running the IT department for the building.

I have started working on writing my own book :)
Awesome! I have so much respect for people who write. What are you writing about?
Thanks. It's an academic book on telecom.
I'm looking forward to my new working regime. Starting this week, I get to work from home 2 days per week. That's going to save me about 8 hours' travel every week, and greatly improve my quality of life (a lot less stress!).

Enjoy the work from home life, it makes life in general easier! Just remember to keep work and home separate, that's the hard part.
I've worked from home before. I know the deal. :)
Getting my first paycheck next Tuesday, gonna buy tickets to see Slayer in August. Also gonna take my license test within the next month so I'm excited for that, too. Double date with my girlfriend and her two friends, I think we're going to get sushi? I can't remember but I'm hyped for that regardless.
Fuck yeah, Slayer. They put on a fantastic show, you’ll enjoy it.
Took next thur/fri off, so a 5 day weekend incoming. And a short 2 day week. Just gonna kick it and relax.
I get 5 days off at my internship, and Wednesday is Independence day which I get off anyways, so I'm seriously considering taking the Monday and Tuesday off and taking a 5 day weekend :)
I'm get to spend the next week camping. That's a week off work with no summer classes to worry about; as many beers as I can pack; a warm and sunny forecast; a lake to kayak at my leisure; campfires to sit by every night; no worries during a week in the wilderness.
Vacations. As simple as that.
Oh man, me too. I've been crazy busy at work lately and once we move, we'll finally have some down time before starting up again. We're thinking of traveling to Vietnam, but nothing too official yet. Are you traveling somewhere or just going to relax?
A little bit of both. Going to France for a few days and then I'll have like a week to relax before everything gets going again.
